Jihad plot in Melbourne

 In Melbourne, police today arrested seven people over a “substantial attack" allegedly planned for Flinders St Station, Federation Square and St Paul's Cathedral on Christmas Day. To the surprise of nobody, they were Muslim. Yet Premier Dan Andrews still insists such plots are "not acts of faith". Do the arrested men agree?

Bolt sounds as much a religious fanatic as do his imaginary united world of jihadis. Did all his accused and often alleged jihadis all have a common reason for their actions as Bolt seems to think. Does calling out" God is Great" a common greeting in Austria among Christians and equally as common in the daily language of Hindus  make all these disconnected people belong to one uniform mind set as Bolt has us believe? A 12 year old boy is driven by the same reasons as a suspected Tunisian who was a known drinker and non religious person  and an Iranian nutter in Sydney seeking attention. Globally the only thing that unites all these events is Andrew Bolt. The Germans certainly don't the French aren't joining the dots the way Andrew Bolt is. The Australian police aren't even echoing Bolt's seemingly perceptive wisdom. One could if they had  Bolt's energy and motivation look for all the individual crimes committed by Christians around the planet where people have justified their actions with some holy intent. We don't because we tend to examine these acts as varied as the individuals who commit them. Isn't that what Bolt advocates that we are all individuals and should be treated as such? Who doesn't practice what he preaches and categorizes all Muslims under the varying degrees only along his one Islamist continuum. No matter culture, nationality, class, gender, age etc etc they are all connected as far as Bolt is concerned and thus potentially as dangerous as any suicide bomber. It's why Bolt readily attacks and smears Waleed Aly even more than he does others he declares to be extremists such as Haider, Monis  and others. The reality the only thing that connects these people deemed " Muslims" is Andrew Bolt, News Corp and the political class that see an opportunity in doing so to get votes, Pauline Hanson being today's most obvious. None actually reflect the pluralism of multicultural Australia.

 Remember when Abbott and Hockey were in urgent need of showing how Wayne Swan the world's best treasurer had fucked the economy. Abbott gave the Reserve Bank $10 bill  to cook the books and make the deficit look worse than it in fact was. Bolt loved it was a brilliant and bold political maneuver on the part of two dishonest men.  However here he is  predicting MT will do a similar stunt  in 4 years time  to look good and true or not Bolt's prediction is deployed to make MT look bad now! How desperate are these conservatives when they need to dream up scenarios beyond the horizon in order to prove their enemies are their enemies.

 As if Moody's and Standard and Poors know nothing about dodgy accounting! Bolt's blurb is from Peter Foster's 101 course in  grifting.  Moody's and S&P   rated the junk bonds being sold by Wall st  bankers as gilt edge AAA and they caused the GFC as much as those that invented and sold them.  Bolt acts as if these rating agencies  need his advice.  Like they read Andrew Bolt & Terry McCrann bollocks they look to Donald Trump on The Apprentice for economic genius when they want it.
