One that confuses a national poverty, lack of education and political conflicts with the religion itself.
He loves Hirsi because she cobbles together some of the worst cultural practices and blames them on Islam. The fact that Sunni Imams like Rabbis are only a collection of scholars and have no central organization for the religion lends it to have been a more flexible, complex and culturally tied to the mix in any community of its' economic political and social practices. These are what the simplifiers like Bolt and Hirsi ignore. Bolt readily attacks the circumcision of women declaring it Muslim and essential to the way Islam treats women and not a cultural practice. Shouldn't Bolt be then equally critical of the practice of male circumcision which is universally tied to Judaism?

Ayaan Hirsi Ali seems to believe most of the world's Muslims live as they do in the Middle East and Somalia. She seems give no consideration to the fact that the majority don't. Indonesia is the largest secular Muslim nation . I'm suspect Indonesians don't recognize themselves in Hirsi Ali's description. However Bolt is prepared to put them all in one box.A survey of Islamic nations in fact showed the majority of citizens in populous Islamic Nations wan't a separation of religion and state and not Sharia law.
