Andrew Bolt, conservative columnist, hints at stepping back
Bolt, a high-profile and well-read Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph columnist, hinted over the weekend that he was set to make a major announcement about his career, fuelling speculation among News Corp Australia staffers that he was planning to cut back on his many duties.Attention seeking self-proclaimed lightening bolt for the conservative cause leaks a media hint but then declines to comment the shy petal that he is. Fact that it's irrelevant isn't fake. There is nothing to deflect, distract, promote or spin and Andrew Bolt lets it be known he has the inside track here on a well-kept secret that he's worked on for 80 hours to leak. Well, we have calculated real time he's spent on his working weeks and it certainly isn't 80 hours on either his blog or media obligations. It certainly isn't on the robotically over produced autocued Bolt Report or his column which after all are based each week on one or two seeds of ideas tested out on his blog after which they become repeated incessantly for the rest the week. At least an agony aunt is varied.
So with the aid of an overpriced production team, all Bolt really has to do is "spin" the same thread for the week. Bolt never looked comfortable or convinced on Sky reading his autocued editorials. His blogs seemed to be work off the backs of "fans" Peter from Bellvue Hills being the most significant until this year when even he gave up the ghost. Whenever Bolt was missing he came into greater focus showing he really didn't do much at all and his replacements actually did it better. Remember that photo of Bolt in his study it was like an untouched set from a Franco Cozzo ad.
So what can Bolt surprise us with? That he's taking up a meaningful job with the IPA to help groom his son to become the Andrew Bolt he never was rather than allow him to just be James? He's raised his kids like his tulips. Bolt spoke of those endearingly but only spoke of his family as if they were luggage he had to take on holiday as he was the only breadwinner ouch! It seems his only real friends were a couple of magpies. Does anyone crave as much attention as Andrew Bolt does telling us how a cultured he is and as rare as the air on Everest? Now a hint to Fairfax of a secret announcement that's coming like Godot? Does Andrew Bolt really need that much media attention or ratings maybe he's conceded that Tony Abbott's not coming back? FEAR FRENZY: GOP FLOODS AIRWAVES WITH CRIME ADS
"The Republican Party has aired eight times as many ads focused on crime and public safety as it did during the last midterm election, according to a HuffPost analysis, a reflection of President Donald Trump’s strategy of trying to fire up the GOP’s base with fear. "
During the last midterm elections, in 2014, Republicans running for House and Senate seats aired ads about public safety more than 12,000 times, according to data from Kantar Media/CMAG. That number spiked to nearly 107,000 for the 2018 election, an increase of more than 800 percent. While just 2 percent of GOP ads in 2014 dealt with crime, about 12 percent of their 2018 ads have touched on the subject.
Matthew Guy and Peter Dutton will do the same here and "F--K the Truth. Crime has dropped in Victoria but you won't hear that on Murdoch media.

Of course, it's nothing to do with Trump unless they get shot. (ODT)TRUMP HATERS HELPING TRUMP
Two things in the US mid-term elections should wake up the Left. First, Donald Trump is actually a strength for the Republicans, not a weakness. Second, the Left's growing violence and hatred is scaring a lot of voters. Check the mileage that the Republican's new ad campaign is making of it.
