What’s in it for me? That's our PM’s guiding man

“He looked at me askance and said, ‘What for?’ I said just to catch up and have a chat about issues.

He said, ‘No, mate. I’m purely transactional.’”

Xenophon laughs at the memory, but he wasn’t laughing at the time. “It was pretty blunt. It was a pretty terse response, basically fobbing me off. I thought, okay. I felt a bit chastised. I thought ‘this isn’t someone you want to shoot the breeze with’.”

Republicans Discover Dangerous New ‘Covid-19’ Virus Sweeping America

“Why have the Democrats done nothing to stop this new 'COVID-19' virus which has been devastating the nation since Wednesday?”

Much of the current system’s imbalance comes down to who has the resources to nominate deserving others, notes one observer: “If you’re trying to stand up your fences and tend your crops, you don’t have time.”

Want an Order of Australia? It helps to be rich, powerful and male

Critics of the Australian honours system claim it is too politicised, too weighted towards the wealthy, too pale, male and stale. Can the growing movement to make it more egalitarian really make a difference?

Controversial 2020 honours recipients included former Speaker of the House and lifelong Liberal politician Bronwyn Bishop, who left politics following an expenses scandal. Also honoured was Graham Richardson, the former Labor politician and notorious factional headkicker once known as the “Senator for Kneecaps”. Eyebrows were also raised at the honouring of retired broadcaster Mike Carlton, who often turns the air blue with abuse of his ideological foes on Twitter. But by far the most controversial honour went to Bettina Arndt, the sex therapist and media commentator associated with the men’s rights movement. Arndt was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her work on “gender equity through advocacy for men”.

Australia cannot shirk ‘moral obligation’ to tackle climate change: Brian Schmidt

Australia has an “urgent moral obligation” to help lead international efforts on climate action, Australian Nobel laureate Brian Schmidt has told an international summit.

These are the words of a leader and not those of our current do-nothing say-nothing PM, A PM always looking back rather than forward.

The Age's View

The Age is a Corporation not a citizen. It aim is it's bottom line and not the nation. It isn't represenative of "Free Speech" yet it is of "influence" simply because it's unlike unions a capitally resourced distribution platform which has government support.

Trumpist fantasy still captivates the odd Australian politician

It certainly has and will stay well entrenched into the future at Sky News and the other Murdoch outlets.(ODT)

Donald Trump’s “alternative facts” worked. But Australia needs to embrace a new era anchored in reality.

FAKE NEWS

Propagandist Andrew Bolt has stuck his head above the parapet to Phish for your Subscriptions and point you on the path of ignorance

TRUMP INCITEMENT BAD, COMEY INCITEMENT GOOD

The Guardian accuses Donald Trump of inciting violence. It does this in an article inciting violence against Republicans. But that's OK, because... you know. Side, not principle

You can see he's out of practice because when Bolt incites and radicalizes  right-wing  Christians to to commit mass murder it's Ok. Bolt has readily said he admired the conviction with which suicide terrorists fight and wished Christian youth had as much. When they do he denies he's ever said such things. Like Trump and Charlottesville Bolt decontextualizes left and right violence falsely claiming they are equal. We know he doesn't believe that because we witnessed just how hard he fought when two pranksters glittered him. It was Bolt who showed he was prepared to practice GBH and not to be charged made out that he was the intended victim of harm and not just his suit.

To suggest any equivalence between Comey and Trump when it comes to incitement is to do just what Trump did after Charlottesville and that did not fare well for Trump. Then to watch Fox and Murdoch media suggest the BLM Riots were worse and the equivalent of Jan 6th is even worse. It does however show why Andrew Bolt will never be nominated for an OA while Mike Carlton has been. The question to be asked is will Carlton keep it Bolt we know wants it.

The Police and national security of the USA, UK and Australia have all deemed the greatest threat to domestic terrorist activity in all of their countries is the extreme White right-wing terrorists incited and radicalized by the media and right-wing politics and not as Bolt would prefer us to believe Antifa and othe left-wing or outside agencies like ISIS.

Guess Trump saved millions of lives from Covid-death Far more than Fauci who didn't really know what he was doing. Bolt is delivering Trumist spin and cancelling culture in his effort. (ODT)

 Bruce Pascoe

HIDING BRUCE PASCOE

Karl Quinn complains that we've lost the ability to discuss differences, thanks to a cancel culture where "opinion trumped fact". But he then proves he's part of the problem by hiding Bruce Pascoe behind a straw man while screaming "racist" at people pointing out Pascoe has no known Aboriginal ancestors.

It goes to show just how lazy Bolt is when he has nothing to write about he has to pull Bruce Pascoe out of his hat. Karl Qinn isn't hiding Pascoe. Pascoe is certainly not hiding himself. What Bolt is however hiding, is the fact that Bruce Pascoe is and has been the first to say he has no verifiable proof of Aboriginal ancestors. Bolt makes out or intentionally doesn't mention that.

Further over the years many more historians archeologists and anthropologists have uncovered evidence that shows the Aboriginal history Bolt refers to as accurate isn't. That what Bruce has helped add to all the research is a history very very different from the one Andrew Bolt defends and it's being changed. It's that which Andrew Bolt makes great effort to hide by focusing single mindedly or should I say mindlessly on Bruce Pascoe.(ODT)
