 When doing what's right matters, not sides. Should Dave Sharma ex- LNP be our Ambassador to Israel if he's not prepared to act for Our Australian Government but rather criticize it as if he was still a politician and not our appointed Ambassador to Israel ?

 Sharma, who lost his seat of Wentworth to teal independent Allegra Spender at this year’s federal election, said he respected that Labor made their opposition to the recognition of West Jerusalem known at the time but labelled yesterday’s policy reversal a classic example of “policy on the run”. Sharma: I’ll just point out that the United States and Russia, which are two countries which agree on very little at the moment, both agree that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

Karvelas: Given what we’re seeing unfold from Russia at the moment, are they really a good example of best practice on foreign affairs?

Sharma: No, but I’m just pointing out that the idea that this is an isolated or unusual position is not the case.

The Australian foreign minister, Penny Wong, announced on Monday that the Labor Party government of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese would reverse the country’s recognition of West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. She said in a statement that Australia’s embassy would remain in Tel Aviv.
