Fighting Fake News with REAL 25/12/22, Dutton, Sobhraj, Monsters, Murdoch , Meghan,

Will Charles 'Serpent' Sobhraj be forever in jail?

MERRY XMAS CHARLES SOBHRAJ

Charles Sobhraj, a convicted killer who police say is responsible for a string of murders in the 1970s and 1980s, has been released from a Nepal prison after nearly two decades behind bars.

DUTTON WISHES HE WAS AS HAPPY AS CHARLES SOBHRAJ

So, this hardworking team – officially known as the Bi-Annual Liberal Strategy and Campaigning Secretariat (BALSACS) – is currently meeting in Biarritz to develop new and innovative strategies to promote Peter Dutton and the Liberal Party.

FAR WORSE THAN CHARLES SOBHRAJ

If this past week presents any single lesson, it’s the social costs of greed. Capitalism is premised on greed but also on guardrails – laws and norms — that prevent greed from becoming so excessive that it threatens the system as a whole.

Yet the guardrails can’t hold when avarice becomes the defining trait of an era, as it is now. Laws and norms are no match for the possibility of raking in billions if you’re sufficiently ruthless and unprincipled.

Opinion

Private Media chairman Eric Beecher, the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and Lachlan Murdoch.

MURDOCH TRIES THE MONSTER MASH

Melbourne once had a tabloid called The Truth the very opposite of it's masthead title. It disappeared when media barons like the Murdoch's swallowed it's space, stole its content and put tits on page 3. Nobody lowered the standards of western journalism more than Rupert Murdoch and now his son Lachlan wants to protect them

LM heir-apparent was “thin-skinned”, unlike his father Rupert, who always thought it a bad look for a media proprietor to sue a journalist.

Murdoch media executives told me a commitment to free speech was Lachlan’s “north star”, and his habitual response to abundant criticism of both Fox and News. Lachlan may or may not agree with everything Andrew Bolt or Peta Credlin say in print or on air, but he will defend their right to say what they think.

The danger for Lachlan, it seems to me, is that even if he wins his case against Crikey, he loses.

Murdoch v Crikey: even if Lachlan wins, he loses

 Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

The Duchess has retaliated, saying through a spokesperson that a true apology would be a change in the Murdoch tabloid’s coverage and ethical standards.

‘Not holding our breath’: Meghan rejects apology from Murdoch’s Sun saying true contrition would be change in coverage
