No to racism. Winston Peters attacks the tribalising of New Zealand
" Our first Prime Minister with Aboriginal ancestry will be someone who preaches the kind of anti-racism message that NZ First leader Winston Peters, a politician with Maori and Scottish ancestry, preached in New Zealand this week:" Andrew Bolt

Journalist Stan Grant calls for Australians to embrace Indigenous history - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)According to media man Bolt he ignored, didn't hear or was totally uninspired by Stan Grant's" I'm a proud Australian and more" speech and the ABC interview given attention because they were highlights of Australia Day. Treating the West like children
Bolt's long blogs tend to be long winded deflections, distortions one sided attempts to grab attention Donald Trumpesque style. They are intended to divide rather than unite opinion. It's amazing Bolt's first instinct was to champion the locking up of Indonesian children declared "adult " people smugglers by our Immigration Department because to do otherwise would seem weak. These kids were also declared fraudulent when declaring their age why? No reason they simply looked older and failed the concocted wrist test Immigration said was infallible. So they spent time imprisoned in Australian adult jails until it was proven in court our Immigration Department was wrong and compensation needed to be paid. We were embarrassed internationally and made to look like fools. Bolt believes acting against the interests of children is better than the presumption of innocence or truth the basis of our justice system " I suspect the same fraud has been perpetrated in Australia, as I noted six years ago: " He simply ignores the mistakes made. So for him it's fine to have children kept in detention for over 400 days raped molested and sent mad because it's in the political interest of his extreme right wing party or side and they call it Australian values. Making regular blunders is nothing to Bolt because he controls the distribution of his own misinformation and later avoids apologizing for all his lies and errors.
We can expect yet another year of accusing refugees like the little drowned boy Alyan's parents of being liars and then shutting up when they are accepted by allied countries like Canada for resettlement. It will be another year of Bolt trawling globally for single case exceptions to prove his misinformed generalizations false facts to support his right wing stance just as the whacko extreme right Republicans are doing in the US. Bolt's rarely original.
A Labor tax brawl, where no one mentions cutting spending instead
The liar is back even though he said he wouldn't be until next Monday. That was a promise made only 2 days ago. Then the economic whizz tried to convince us the GFC was caused by over-regulation of the world's biggest banks that had to be saved by ordinary tax paying people via government bail outs that sent the world into a tail spin. Our banks and treasurer Wayne Swan were regarded as the best in the world back then, why because they were regulated and always have been and they don't like it?
"Indeed, the idea that the Curtin government had guaranteed the banks remained Labor lore for decades. In 1973, Gough Whitlam told parliament:“No bank registered under Australian Parliament legislation can go bankrupt. In return for that guarantee against loss, banks pursue a lending policy which the government of the day approves”.The relevant provision in the Banking Act did not change, yet by the mid-1980s the Reserve Bank was explicitly denying any deposit guarantee existed.
So what happened? The Commonwealth Bank might have just forgotten about the guarantee. Central banks are human institutions, and to be fair the legislation on the page is deeply ambiguous. A more concerning explanation is that the Commonwealth Bank might have deliberately forgotten about the guarantee – contrary to the intention of parliament - given how unhappy it was with its introduction.
Until the global financial crisis, academics and commentators used to bemoan the stubborn belief held by the public that bank deposits were guaranteed by the government, apparently contrary to Australian law.
But rather than demonstrating the ignorance of the public, the story of the 1945 deposit guarantee reveals more the fallibility of government, as the Commonwealth government either accidentally or intentionally forgot its own policy."
Here's Bolt champing at the bit to tell us Abbott's increased spending is Labour's fault that the ratio of Spending to GDP of 24% under Labor in 2013 and now 25.9% under the LNP had nothing to do with Tony Abbott and and Joe Hockey when it was Hockey who raised the borrowing ceiling to $500 bill. All that increased spending on Defense, Immigration, Security and a botched NBN was to do with Shorten and Turnbull. Yes there is a refreshed "devil may care" attitude to Bolt who has lied about Monday and has snuck back to spray us with his fictitious facts and interpretations as usual. While Shorten declared yesterday Labor's Economic Policy was fully costed to pare back Abbott's 1.5% over spending in 2 years. Maybe a start on the planned overseas monuments Tony was planning, the wars he was taking on, the Detention Centers and resettlement schemes like the one that gave Cambodia's corrupt pollies $50 mill for 4 refugees might be a good starting point.
Billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Trolls Trump: 'I Bailed You Out Twice'
Tony Abbott was backed by NewsCorp, Rupert Murdoch and the Saudi Prince in 2013. Alwaleed Bin Talal was the second largest shareholder. Abbott is now in the US lunching with Murdoch again. NewsCorp controls 66% of Australia's print media, has shares in Ch10, Sky News and Foxtel which broadcasts Fox News and produces the Bolt Report for gratis on Ch10. This seems to be a point overlooked by MSM...why?
Global heating and the dilemma of climate scientists
In private conversations, many climate scientists express far greater concern at the progression of global warming and its consequences than they do in public.
