D’Ambrosio has sung the praises of Victoria’s renewable energy during the heatwave, saying it was coal and thermal generators that failed the state. “We lost 1800 megawatts of power capacity generation in Victoria,” she said. “That is an extraordinary figure to lose. Essentially most of that was as a result of failed infrastructure from coal and gas units – in particular coal. “People should be rightly disappointed that the power grid was not up to the stakes today...we have a 20th-century energy system, for a 21st-century climate. “The fact is our thermal generators are ageing, they are becoming less and less reliable. Wind power came through today – it produced sufficient power generation. Our large batteries were available last night when we needed them the most. Renewable energy is the way of the future and the here and now.” She did also apologise to Victorians for the outages. “The market operator had to make the decision to minimise the impact of [the failures]”, she said. “At 12 o'clock today they directed load shedding distributed fairly across the state.” 150,000 Victorians had their power supply taken off “for a very short period of time”, she said.

ONE OF AUSTRALIA”S newest and most efficient “supercritical” coal-fired power plants – CS Energy’s 750MW Kogan Creek Power Station on the Darling Downs in Queensland – tripped unexpectedly on the weekend, taking out 500MW of generation out of the mix for several hours on a hot Saturday afternoon. Now, this is neither particularly unusual or even newsworthy, as Hugh Saddler has explained here, coal plants regularly “trip”, even the newest ones. And while inconvenient for the market operator and not great for wholesale prices, this rarely leads to customers losing power. It does, however, go to the point that coal power – regularly and vigorously championed by the Federal Coalition as the only reliable source of “fair dinkum power” – is not necessarily all that reliable. Bolt was unconvincing in the above post so he's come at it from another direction. He can't say the planet is cooling as he did for years not that long ago. He tried to convince us it was cooling and had been for 19-20 years. We realised he was an Abbottonian idiot then and he has shut up since. Now he's taken on the mantle that science is simply a religion based on faith and not facts but that doesn't tell us where he stands and on what he believes as an agnostic. If Science is a "faith-based" belief system what better epistemological system of knowledge has Bolt got to offer that's proven itself better over the past 200 years? Profit and ever increasing GDP that has benefited the few as opposed to all of us fairly and the widening wealth gap which makes the majority become payday survivors while select simply float above it all floating on investment. Labor what's that? Money makes real money, not productive work. Given that's the case what can we make of Bolt's vacuous threat the Greens want you to suffer?

Check the ratings whinge Bolt is having because he simply can't get people on his show that people want to listen to or haven't been subsidized by the LNP. 2019 it seems will be another year of promises watching people repeating themselves in the hope that the LNP Right keep watching as nobody else does.
Bolt asks: Where are politicians from Right of centre? Where are politicians from the Liberals, the Australian Conservatives, One Nation, the Nationals or the Liberal Democrats? Where is the Right-wing Fraser Anning or Bob Katter? Where is the balance?" They are on his show they are the ones he says makes him look great because they aren't questioned by Bolt an audience or other guests. On Bolt, they get a fair and balanced moment to bay at an audience that turns out not to be there.
Every investigation ever done on the ABC has proved them to be just what Bolt claims they aren't and even the last brought on by Pauline Hanson proved they weren't crossing any lines no matter how much News Corp rants and raves. I swear the ABC constitutes 50% of Andrew Bolt's time he wouldn't exist without them. As a result, the ABC looks great and Bolt looks a raving nut case. Mitch Fifield like Tony Abbott all cut the ABC's finances but in the end, they walked away with Bolt not naming or shaming either of them merely baying at the media moon. No mention that the ABC the most examined and hated media by conservatives was exonerated again.
It seems the conservatives are jumping ship and not wanting to face the shellacking to come and the blame with it in May for the outcome. The blame that at best will leave them with a shredded party and a PR company wondering where it's money will come from for the next decade or more. What will Sky News do after dark?
One can only hope with the fall of the LNP and the realisation the failure was brought on by the factional separation skewed thinking and insanity of the right-wing morons egged on by the IPA and promises sold them by the Murdochian Press that their house of cards collapse will require a massive reorganization back to common sense. News Corp too will need to scramble and dump their least needed their poisoned dead killed by their own cultural toxic bloom. We might in 2019 see a goodbye to the least needed like Andrew Bolt.
