Fighting Fake News with REAL 10/9/20 Murdoch's battle to win either way; Pro Life agenda of a Neoliberal Economic Rationalist God Botherer "Shit Happens"

Royalties according to Morrison won't be allowed the ABC which makes Murdoch's battle with Google and Facebook much much clearer (ODT)
But stuff Google and Facebook, says Morrison and his gang of dollar store Batman villains, if Rupert wants something, no matter how obviously idiotic, odious or borderline corrupt, Rupert will bloody well get it. His media monopoly is the only thing keeping the Coalition in power, after all.
Irrespective of how you look at it, the Murdoch media is working with the Morrison Government to achieve its goal of controlling the narrative and manipulating the way people can find news and information. A job which they already fulfil with aplomb, but which will be that much easier without pesky Google searches and Facebook sharing platforms unearthing more and more alternative views.
Whichever way it goes, Rupert Murdoch gets what he wants. Either a new stream of revenue from Facebook and Google, or a potentially crippling blow to his emerging online news rivals.
Come to think of it, maybe the old coot does understand the internet? More likely his staff do.
So much for freedom of information.

Wasting away in the West

We tolerate some of the dirtiest fuel in the world.

Dirty fuel is a bigger killer than COVID: Australia is failing on emissions

Pro lifer Tony in London " To Abbott, the “price” of saving lives from COVID-19 by “health dictators” enforcing lockdowns has been too great and “people should get on with their lives even in the presence of death”. Abbott particularly laments the evolution of concern over the virus to now want to “preserve almost every life at almost any cost”. Except of course in the case of women.

By contrast, the “trauma doctors” and “health dictators” were apparently not consulted when the current government set our national fuel standards with an approach closer to Abbott’s prescription.

Australia tolerates some of the dirtiest fuel in the OECD.

When the government set the fuel standards it claimed to base the decision on a cost-benefit study. It would be a particularly revealing study to apply the same cost-benefit framework and assessment to its medical and economic responses to COVID-19? It obviously didn’t put a very high price on a human life.

FAKE NEWS

TONIGHT: TWO LABOR PREMIERS, THE SHAME OF AUSTRALIA

On The Bolt Report on Sky at 7pm: two Labor Premiers, Daniel Andrews and Annastacia Palaszczuk,  have exploited the virus panic and got cruel with power.  Self-serving political bullies causing misery to win the votes of the timid and the savage.  Plus Mark Latham, and whisky with a mate - the first Australian foreign correspondent in China.

Reality: Dan Andrews is a leader with 70% of Victorians backing him in keeping them safe and the rest of the country looking on. We do after all live in a Democracy but it seems Andrew Bolt disagrees no matter what Morgan or the Essential polls have shown. Andrews is being scapegoated simply because he's acting and is seen as a leader while Scott Morrison appears so clearly not to be. As soon as voices were heard speaking of Andrews as a future PM of this country the LNP and all it's members Morrison and Frydenberg panicked and returned to what they know best. Which is the Abbott approach of always being the best opposition they can be.

Andrews day in day out stands before the media answering every single question thrown at him. while Scott Morrison does the reverse. He refuses to answer and or simply walks away when the media becomes too investigative. Frydenberg has lost the plot when it comes to any plan to tackle the economy and both have become Australia's Trumpsters. Blame China Andrews blame and claim victimhood.

Andrews being raised as what a future national "leader" should look like is needed to be brought down and so  Murdoch media has been called in to save their butts. Andrew Bolt's script tonight will have been scripted for him and we will see him and Latham about to fall into line and fill the gap with scripted monologues.
