"We didn't realise it would involve actual work"

Government fucks up rollout of its own corruption

Strangely, Mr Frydenberg’s broken promise wasn’t the front page of “The Herald-Sun” in Melbourne today. No, there was a much bigger one. The Independent challenging him for the seat has a secret. She doesn’t like the government and, even worse, she once declared her love for some Labor politicians on Facebook. Now, given that it came out that she was once a member of the Labor Party a few months ago, I wouldn’t have considered this front page news, but I guess that’s why I’m not likely to ever be asked to edit any of the Murdoch propaganda sheets.

I would have presumed that the announcement that Josh doesn’t intend to demonstrate his commitment to recycling by using the same car park policy that he took to the previous election would be an indication that he feels completely safe. However, when the papers feel the need to do a hit job on his opponent and not some Labor person in a marginal electorate, the polling must be closer than I thought.

Ok, well, it’s only a matter of weeks before Morrison has to either call the election or else we’ll all know that it’s on May 21st. Unless he really is intending to have a half-Senate election and hold off the House of Representatives so long that all the newspapers running Clive Palmer’s ads become viable businesses again.

Scott Morrison shames Australia yet again

Distant Australia, whose participation in the illegal war against Iraq which produced refugees and asylum seekers that would eventually head towards the antipodes, is now offering to accept a higher intake of refugees from Ukraine and “fast track” their applications. The same politicians speak approvingly of a system that imprisons asylum seekers and refugees indefinitely in Pacific outposts, promising to never resettle them in Australia. The subtext here is that those sorts – the Behrouz Boochani-types – deserve it.

In the words of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), “The Morrison Government has presided over the dismantling of Australia’s refugee intake, leaving Australia unable to adequately respond to emergencies,” with 2022 “marking the lowest refugee intake in nearly 50 years.” True, the global pandemic did not aid matters, but COVID-19 did little in terms of seeing a precipitous decline in refugee places. Australia’s refugee intake cap was lowered from 18,750 persons in 2018-2019 to 13,750 in 2020-2021.

The reduction of such places has taken place despite Canberra’s role in a range of conflicts that have fed the global refugee crisis. Australia’s failure in Afghanistan, and its imperiling of hundreds of local translators and security personnel, only saw a half-hearted effort in opening the doors. The effort was characterized by incompetence and poorly deployed resources.

The grim reality in refugee politics is that governments always make choices and show preferences. “Talk of moving some applications ‘to the top of the pile’ pits the most vulnerable against each other,” opines the critical founder of the ASRC, Kon Karapanagiotidis. “This is a moral aberration and completely out of step with the Australian public.”

Is Abbott looking for a way back?? Is  Climate Change denial still his point of difference? It is what had him kicked out of Warringah by Zoe Steggal. Is it still his secret weapon to drive his return? Heaven help the LNP because Tony Abbott won't.

Australia may not be entering the war in Eastern Europe, but it’s clearer than ever that we are facing our own deadly battle here at home, with lives and livelihoods at stake. What a shame that the culture warriors have decided to use a week positively bursting with examples of why we need to do more on climate to claim that we need to do less.

For some employers, wage theft has become part of their business model, and it costs workers an estimated $1.35 billion every year.
It happens across industries – from construction to health care, from retail to accommodation – and disproportionately affects vulnerable workers like women, young people and migrants.
Across Australia, a worker who steals from the till is committing a crime - but in most states and territories an employer who steals their workers’ wages is not. This is completely unfair.
Australians deserve a better future.

Fighting Fake News with REAL; 3/10/21; Abbott and Australia's global influence shames the nation; ICAC and Morrison's Federal do-nothing promise; Glady's political posture

Tony Abbott’s global reach, his pride, influence, and "want", for a better word a knighthood, mirrors his moral position that runs counter to that of his Pope who he simply ignores, disrespects, and doesn’t believe is his Catholic leader. Abbott’s Inquisition like legacy now stretches across the English-speaking world and will shame Australia and our history for years to come. His inhumane influence stretched to Trump on the Mexican border and now is being enacted in the UK when it comes down to turning backs on the desperation of those seeking asylum or in danger at sea.

The (UK ) Bill came into being despite warnings from various Australian lawyers, doctors and former civil servants that their country’s refugee model was hardly the sort of thing that should inspire imitations. In the view of Australian Greens Senator Nick McKim and Benali Hamdache of the UK Green Party, the “New Plan for Immigration imports all the worst parts of the Australian government policy.” This includes the possible establishment of offshore processing (read detention) centres to places ranging from Rwanda to the Isle of Man and the creation of a temporary protection scheme. The Bill takes the battering ram to a range of maritime practices, proposing to criminalise the practice of offering voluntary assistance at sea by targeting “those assisting persons to arrive in the UK without a valid clearance.” That good Samaritan service provided by such bodies as the Royal Lifeboat Institution, which has been accused of being a “migrant taxi service” by its detractors, promises to be roped in.

  Britannia Turns Back the Boats

With this ruling, the court has lumped together skin colour and nationality – it cemented the idea that to be Dutch is to be white. Of course, this was something racialised Dutch people already knew, but the court ruling made it official. The ruling is the legal, and seemingly sophisticated, stand-in for its uncritical and banal version: “Well, ‘we’ are white, and ‘they’ are Black, is it not so?” As a result of decades of migration and colonialism, thousands of people from different corners of the world – some voluntarily, some not – ended up in the Netherlands. And their presence in the country cracked the notion of “Dutchness as whiteness”. The post-colonial migration from the Dutch East Indies and the Moluccas, and later Suriname and the Dutch Antilles, the labour migration from Turkey and Morocco, and the more recent arrival of refugees from Bosnia, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Congo and so on, shook up the whole idea that being Dutch equals being white. Or so you would think. But, being “white” or “Black” are not objective indicators of anything. These racial classifications are political, not biological. What we are dealing with here is a colonial legacy.

Gladys Berejiklian shows she knows Morrison will push her under a bus.

Well, I could be wrong, but I suspect that any day now there’ll be media articles about what a mistake it would be to have a Federal Integrity Commission when ICAC is responsible for such a great Premier as Gladys having to stand down when she’s done nothing more than have loyalty to her partner and if we’d had a similar one at federal level then who knows how many of the great performers like Stuart Robert or Richard Colbeck would have lost their portfolios over some minor issue like forgetting where they left it.

An Investigation "isn't a trial" as Liberals make out and they aren't procedures meant to be done in secret. They are non partisan independent inquiries. Berejiklian decided to fall on her own sword for political reasons entirely of her own making.

Constitutional law expert Anne Twomey says the NSW corruption watchdog acted appropriately by ignoring the political implications and announcing it was investigating Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

“This shows that ICAC was acting regardless of the circumstances at the time, that it was acting on the basis of what it had before it. I would have thought in relation to any integrity body that they should act without taking into account the criticism of any political party,” she said.

“They shouldn’t take into account the politics of the day. ICAC should fulfil its responsibilities and not worry about politics in NSW.”

the demise of a third NSW Liberal Premier over an ICAC investigation has also prompted fresh questions over Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s promise - more than 1000 days ago - to introduce a Commonwealth Integrity Commission.

Federal Labor’s legal affairs spokesman Mark Dreyfus said Ms Berejiklian’s resignation highlighted once again the absence of a federal anti-corruption commission .

Australia cautioned the French contractor – hours before the $90bn submarine deal was cancelled – that its achievement of a key contractual milestone did “not provide any authorisation to continue work”. The letter, sent to Naval Group on 15 September, is at the heart of an extraordinary diplomatic rift between France and Australia, with the French foreign minister telling a parliamentary hearing this week that “someone lied”.

At a press conference earlier in November 2020, Shoebridge told reporters that the information’s release finally allows the NSW people to see the truth about Berejiklian’s role in the $250 million grants scandal.
“All year, the Premier has been ducking and weaving about her role in $141 million in grants. Documents were shredded; documents were deleted.
“After being forced to produce these documents, having undertaken a forensic document recovery process, we now see that the Premier had a central role in the approval of these projects. Fighting Fake News with REAL 14/8/21; Morrison has taken a bat to or for the Afghanis. Who the fuck knows? Climate denial is over; Abbott is back will we throw a paid for party?

Afghans crowd into the Herat Kabul internet cafe to apply for visas.

Afghans crowd into the Herat Kabul internet cafe to apply for visas.

Options being considered include getting the US or Britain to rescue those who worked with Australian troops and Canberra sending its own evacuation planes.

Australia will urgently rescue more Afghan nationals who worked with Australian soldiers during the decades-long conflict under a plan to be unveiled within days, as the Taliban advances towards the capital Kabul.

Senior Australian officials are talking with their American and British counterparts about possibly joining with those countries to rescue Afghans who have worked with Australian soldiers.

The options being considered include the United States or Britain rescuing people on behalf of Canberra as well as Australia organising its own commercial flights to pick up Afghans who were engaged by Australian forces.

Typical of Morrison making yet another "announcement" about what he may or may not do. If the Americans do it for him he will claim the success. If they don't then wait for yet another announcement to hide this one as if it didn't happen! Didn't Australians pick up on the fact that it's the Afghan's fault for not lining up for visas? That there aren't many to be processed only 50 is their fault and a sign they don't want to come. Well they that do haven't been certified to even apply. Yes they have to apply to apply and we haven't even begun to give out the applications for the applications yet. That's how urgent the matter is for this government. It was the last thing Morrison said at his press conference and it was almost in a whisper. He was victim blaming which comes so easy for SloMo because it's become normal for him.

The bottom line is Afghans are unwanted in Morrison's Australia. Dutton made that patently clear when he pointed blame for terrorist acts at Dandenong " His Australia" was the Australia that put up the barriers to prevent these probable terrorist sympathizers getting here. It's so embarrassing for us as a nation  to listen to Morrison pushed into bullshitting, being a "gunna" having to lie. But then, Morrison's natural born bullshitter so it comes easy and he's been doing it even before his political career began. He's been sacked by two countries for for bullshitting having failed to do what was expected of him.

Abbott laments lack of substantive figures in public life compared to Howard era

Andrew Bolt's hey day was with a PM who knows he wasn't the best for this country and neither were the senior ministers in his cabinet. It goes to show just how self occupied Bolt is. He really doesn't know he was just a toy in the hands of much politically smarter persons.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison (Image: AAP/Mick Tsikas)

Scott Morrison — a bad marketing campaign’s version of a leader

Given the disaster that is aged care in Australia — the ongoing misery so many senior Australians endure in substandard care in an industry chronically underfunded and under-resourced — surely we would get a break from the prime minister’s incessant focus on spin and presentation and get some substance?

The very fact Morrison says rape, sexual molestation of women is Australian Culture, workplace culture something he can't change, only about talk about makes him the nation's current day leading enabler. No matter how much he feigns sorrow maintains it's a police matter or supports any male simply because they say "I didn't do it" he's maintaining a culture that should be cancelled. One that continues to blame women.

Morrison listened to Jen didn't he but neither of them put their mind to change anything. Porter needs to do more than just say "I didn't do it". He needs to step aside and let an independent investigation take charge. Then we just might be able to say we have leaders.

Fighting Fake News with REAL;19/11/20 Koala Extinction Bill; China; Abbott Murdoch's first true marionette

Extinction of koalas means the death of our country's soul

As the NSW Government, through its National Party coalition partner, tries to shove yet another koala killing bill through the Parliament in spite of thousands of protests, Australians need to know we are on the verge of a historic, irreplaceable, avoidable loss.

According to a historic document by the Aboriginal Sacred Sites Protection Authority:

‘The power which the Spirit Ancestors give the land animates that land and its creatures. The land has a will, a life force of its own.’

We must act before that life force is terminally ill.

The governments of Australia are ignorant towards the significance of keeping our koalas alive.

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivers an address to the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo in Novemner

It seems a perfectly reasonable statement coming from a Nation that sees Australia as an echo of Trump who began the trade war that China now finds itself in. The difference however China is succeeding where Trump and Morrison aren't. RCEP and opportunity for the Asian states it's merely a domestic political posture for Morrison and China is not blinded by our governments fake representation

"Beijing has issued an extraordinary attack on the Australian government, accusing it of "poisoning bilateral relations" in a deliberately leaked document that threatens to escalate tensions between the two countries.

The government document goes further than any public statements made by the Chinese Communist Party, accusing the Morrison government of attempting "to torpedo" Victoria’s Belt and Road deal, and blaming Canberra for "unfriendly or antagonistic" reports on China by independent Australian media."

 FAKE NEWS

BELIEVE COMMUNIST CHINA, OR WATCH THIS INSTEAD

Do you believe what China says or what it does? This is the claim of the Chinese mission to the UN: "The freedom of religious belief is well protected." Now watch what it does just before Christmas to a church that won't sign up to the dictatorship's "official" church.

Do you for one minute consider that over the course of time Australia didn't practice religious persecution and demand individuals convert to Christianity. The very grounds for stealing indigenous children was premised on the need to convert them to our Christian ways. Andrew Bolt demands our schools be structured to promote Christian values  to all those attending no matter their religion because we are a Christian Nation. He certainly doesn't advocate or welcome religious freedom in Australia so why for one minute should we pay attention to him.

CHINA ATTACKS. AUSTRALIA MUST SHUT UP ABOUT FREEDOM

COLUMN China has stated its price for ending its crippling trade bans on Australia.  We must shut up about freedom. So forget the Prime Minister saying he’s “available to open dialogue” to end the bans. "Dialogue” is not what the dictatorship wants. Surrender is. That's what China’s foreign ministry spokesman demanded in an extraordinary media conference.

China doesn't advocate anything of the sort it advocates mutual respect " do unto others as you would have them do to you" No Nation on earth has enabled basic human rights as has China. Health Wealth and Education have been provided for a nation and are still rising. Something that cant be said for Australia. The Federal Government want Victoria to stop dealing with China while it would if only it could. Morrison and Murdoch support the American  trade war with China and indirectly blame China and the CPC for Covid not in any scientific way but politically. So the CPC did what anyone would.

When the Abbott/ LNP abandoned the Pacific the Chinese sought to help the island nations on a much grander scale than Australia did and we simply were told by the Americans to become the Pivots of the Pacific and not pillocks. Abbott and the LNP have always regarded us a European first and an Asian Nation second while Americans view us as their 51rst state. Bolt unfortunately can't see past the horizon. The probability he has Eurasion grand children is shortening daily.
