This is not the past, it's right now. How Bolt talks about the mentally ill, immigrants, the
elderly,The indigenous and about the disabled disgusts. Listen to Andrew Bolt and what do you hear? Isn't it eugenics to send restaurant workers to work
knowing that they might contract a potentially fatal illness? To declare an MP innocent because someone had a mental illness? Andrew
Bolt doesn't care. he doesn't even think it's discrimination, or colored racism, those are great terms too. But underlying it certainly reminds us eugenics and a picture of Bolt in uniform.
It's
not just Professor Bruce Pascoe. Another academic says she's
Aboriginal - a member of the "Winninninni" tribe. But no record of the
tribe exists, and her "Aboriginal" father turns out to be her adoptive
father, and apparently not Aboriginal at all. Can we choose our race
like we can now choose our gender?
I don't know what Andrew Bolt's cut off point is as to how people can or can't identify themselves but it's but it's certainly not 'free' in Bolt's mind's eye. Unfortunately it's a very narrow and strict. Non fluid social, legal parameters set by white man's historical laws and documents and modern genetics all seem to be in the mix. But the primary factor appears to be Bolt himself who will dictate who you fucking are.
Andrew Bolt and identified as Dutch and did so for the first 35 years of his life and he still does but lays claim to have changed and has now added Australian. He wasn't born Dutch he was born here. I was born in the CSFR but don't ID as Slovak. The CSFR no longer exists and the Slovak Republic doesn't recognize me today. Bolt's a rabid anti- multiculturalist. Yet in a weird accepts Indigenous Australian name changes. Many were given Anglicized Christian names by whites for easier record keeping. Much like Jews were because because Jacob bin David was too fluid for the narrow record keeping of the day. Did Jacob Arbeitman leave the local office and ID as Jacob Workman? If Bruce Pascoe was given an indigenous name Andrew Bolt would scream blue murder because it wouldn't be in the record books.
There have been cultures Mayan Aztec Egyptian and Aboriginal cultures all without written histories yet we know a lot about them does Bolt deny Archeological and Anthropological data and discoveries? Does he deny persons identifying with them today. It would seem so. Andrew Bolt certainly doesn't allow them the freedom to do so because they don't fall within Andrew Bolt's strict parameters of what identity is to him. He will freely however tell you what yours is. Just as someone told Jacob the Jew who he was going to be.
Andrew Bolt's adamant "record" means "written record"and that is the only history. So there were no 'stolen children' so you can't identify as one. If there were it would be written. So Bolt anchors all his arguments on on 230 odd years of history. Otherwise it's just "he says she says" Andrew Bolt is very strict authoritarian on our history, who can or can't identify as what and it seems to be tied ever so much fixed to color, gender and the written record.
However the world he's trying so hard to hang on to is fast disagreeing with Andrew Bolt and yes it is allowing people to choose their gender and their race because genetics isn't even clear. It's reflected in changing laws, documents and is not dictated to by genetics or the ridiculously strict parameters Andrew Bolt places on individuals other than himself. The very fact he's allowed dual citizenship and I'm not has nothing to do with how I identify. That I wasn't born in Australia is indicative of that relativity as is he being able to declare himself to be Dutch but I can't be Slovak. Bolt's narrowness of Identity is the problem not fluidity and relativity. He telling Pascoe and this unnamed academic who they are is. Deep knowledge of the cultures they defend and claim is certainly not. Andrew Bolt has no qualification other than bigotry to fall back on.
