Listen, Victoria . . . We’re sorry, ok? A couple of months ago, Gladys Berejiklian spoke for much of the state when she said: “I fear for Victoria and I worry about what their government may do. I hope we have demonstrated to other states it is possible to manage an outbreak and not shut down a city.” Not one of us shouted her down, at least not publicly. We so assumed that in this state our systems were better than yours that we either just pitied you and your endless lockdowns, or looked down our long noses at how badly you had stuffed it up. And now look at us. We stuffed it up by not doing what you told us to do: go early, go hard.

There’s abundant evidence about the climate change problem. On July 7th, writing in the the New York Times Henry Fountain observed: “The extraordinary heat wave that scorched the Pacific Northwest last week would almost certainly not have occurred without global warming, an international team of climate researchers said Wednesday. Temperatures were so extreme — including readings of 116 degrees Fahrenheit in Portland, Ore., and a Canadian record of 121 in British Columbia — that the researchers had difficulty saying just how rare the heat wave was. But they estimated that in any given year there was only a 0.1 percent chance of such an intense heat wave occurring.”

Gasoline demand in the U.S. rebounded vigorously in the week leading up to the 4th of July, to an average of 9.6 million barrels a day, the highest rate seen since September, 2019, well before the pandemic. This is bad. During the 2020 pandemic year, global carbon dioxide emissions plummeted from 36.6 billion metric tons to a mere 34 billion metric tons. It is the kind of 7% a year reduction we need if we are to avoid the worst effects of the climate emergency. The bad news is that as the post-pandemic economy rebounds, our carbon emissions are shooting right back up. In China, where the government used masking, lockdowns and social distancing to all but defeat the virus by late summer of 2020, carbon dioxide emissions were down less than 2%. As we blithely go back to our gas-guzzling ways, and as brain-dead state governments like that of North Dakota actively attempt to keep unprofitable coal plants in operation, the earth atmosphere on which we are inflicting our 36 billion metric tons of CO2 (sort of like blowing up myriads of atomic bombs up there) is taking revenge on us with rocketing temperatures.

FAKE NEWS AND MISINFORMATION EXPOSED
WHAT THE ABC FAILED TO SAY ABOUT THIS “STOLEN GENERATIONS’ STORY
The ABC last week tried again to push the "stolen generations" story. Once again it left out critical facts. Why did it want viewers not to know Margaret Somerville was actually a saint, and much loved?
Andrew Bolt proving his racist credentials yet again by challenging anyone to name any indigenous child "stolen" and on the historic record as being removed from their parents simply because they were black. Bolt's challenge in fact amplifies his racist identity simply by his demand for evidence on the colonialist white record of evidence. It's like asking for evidence for violence by police to be shown on their official record. Or the Nazi ledgers showing the records of Jews gassed. Evidence of medical mismanagement on the record is as rare as hens teeth. Bolt certainly acts like the Dutchmen did post WW2 claiming themselves as heroes who saved their Jewish citizens from the Germans rather than transporting them to the gas chambers. They too said for 40 years look at our "official records".
There is on the record the countless benefits the Christian institutions recieved when removing children from their parents in the guise of welfare. Profits in the guise of Social Welfare became an industry in a path to slave labor and in which Aboriginal Children were taken as the easiest and unquestioned option and charity scam for money. What Bolt is refusing is evidence and it's provided on the official record when critically examined. For example the differing rates at which black and white children were taken from their families stands out. More so the differing rates at which children were later returned to their parents and even the numbers lied to after their release. Hiding and preventing their reuniting in case the real truths came out. Bolt never bridges draws any attention to the vastness of the numbers of personal histories that claim today that historic records need to be rewritten. The numbers so great they simply cant be ignored.
Bolt fails to even consider these personal histories and experiences like those of Stan Grant's and others that weren't removed but were fully aware of family members who were and of the stories handed doawn by others that were simply removed and never seen by their families again. And others who found them after years of seperation. Statistically these stories and numbers of them are so large they don't fit with anything Bolt has offered as reasons for his historic denial that the descriptive "stolen" isn't the appropriate one. His persistent denial rather magnifies and amplifies his typically racist attitude to Australia's less than glorious history.
AL GORE SHOULD SAY SORRY FOR THESE DUD PREDICTIONS
Al Gore is flying here, 15 years after launching his film An Inc0nvenient Truth and scaring a generation of children with its fake claims of global warming doom. Now would be a good time to say sorry.
Just last week Andrew Bolt posed the question "what warming" totally ignoring the fact that records are being broken across the planet as he spoke with temperatures never recorded before. Note Bolt doesn't mention the fact the US and Canada and other countries are currently experiencing droughts also never experienced before. That Greenland is melting and space laser technology has shown the rate of rise of the oceans. How threatened the land mass has become.
Bolt never mentions the fact that he was, and still is really, not just a denier of global warming but a believer in the reverse that planet is cooling and man has little or nothing to do with it. His position is that Global Warming is not a science but a religion and that deniers like himself are the real the sceptics, the scientific rationalists in face of the evidence we have today. Bolt's proposition is that the peer-reviewed research accumulated over the past more than 50 years has been a conspiracy of sorts that has blinded us to the fact. A conspiracy among 97% of the specialist scientists operating in the field and none of which stand shoulder to shoulder with Andrew Bolt. As far as Bolt is concerned they are the QAnon of the modern era.
