Fighting Fake News with REAL 3/6/22; American Hypocrisy; Liberals trying to be Teal; Mutton to Lamb = Dutton: Electricity Prices;

American hypocrisy

 Lobbyland

 Their next obvious hunting ground is the Victorian election in November. The Andrews Labor government faces re-election after eight years in office and a tough pandemic. One slight brake on the Teals is the shortage of viable targets. Labor smashed into the Liberal heartland in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs at the 2018 election, even winning Hawthorn. A Teal assault on the depleted Liberals might set up secondary contests between Labor, the Greens and Teals. Nonetheless there is talk that Liberal seats such as Kew and Bulleen would fall to a well-resourced Teal.

 The success of Teal candidates on May 21 has their advocates already eyeing new worlds to conquer.

Here comes Dutton the slow thinking slow talking non nuanced Dutton. He's the man whose going to turn the SS Liberal Party around 180 degrees starting on himself. His rebranding of the Liberals and himself to the "Family and Small Business  Party" and not the  "Big end of Town Party" is a change of slogan. Yes, that's easy but he has to rid himself Taylor, Tudge Robert and Cash to look cuddly. A slogan change is one thing its execution however is another. Copying the Republican playbook in America is going to be a much more difficult task.

 We got rid of the Trump like flamboyant ad man/ evangelist preacher Morrison but they've replaced him with a dullard bovver boy. The half-witted slow thinking Dutton, and are trying to convince outer suburban Australia that he is more like them. They have heard and listened and now have a new agenda and he is more like them a multicultural man. The outer suburbs have heard and listened too. Dandenong and suburbs like it around the country have heard and listened to Dutton and haven't forgotten who he is. Who will Dutton be taking advice from let alone giving advice to now?

"
Peter Dutton has signalled he wants to take on teacher “extremism”, in the debate over the development of Australia’s new national school curriculum, hinting at a United States-style education culture war.
On a Tuesday broadcast of Sky News’ Bolt Report, the freshly elected opposition leader signposted the party’s intention to make what’s being taught in Australia’s schools a hotly contested political issue."

Australia is the largest exporter of gas in the world, and the largest exporter of coal, too.
In fact, we export double (or more) what we consume, which means we have to compete with the international market for coal and gas supplies when supplies get tight - so we pay the international price
Those factors alone are enough to cause high domestic energy prices.
But in addition to that...
Coal-fired power plants are out of service in droves...and new outages or extensions of
existing outages continue to plague the market.
This means we need to burn more gas to generate electricity
So, actually, because we haven't invested MORE in renewables, our energy markets are stuck tied to insane international fossil fuel prices.
Anyone who says renewables are making wholesale electricity more expensive right now has it all a bit backwards.
