Whistleblower

With Mark Dreyfus’s ancestry, you’d think he’d go out of his way to do something.

The rise of the Albanese government spared hopes of a new deal for people blowing the lid on government malfeasance. It isn’t working out that way for one prominent whistleblower, writes Callum Foote.

IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN.

There are lots of problems with cults, but one is that they’re not terribly self-aware. The Make American Great Again (MAGA) “movement”, to frame it generously, lacks even the most rudimentary self-awareness. Many of its staunchest adherents – zealots, perhaps; those who disseminate their religion with furious keyboard strokes and oddly-placed capital letters (you’ll know them from the Kool-Aid running down their chins) – are not even cognisant of the ideology they’re embracing.

We all know there are Nazis at Trump rallies. There were Nazis at Charlottesville. There were Nazis storming the barricades during the attempted coup on 6 January. We all know the KKK endorses Trump. But the people who don’t know it, the people who deny it with every misspelled slur, every comedic self-own, are Trump supporters.

It’s weird. They don’t even know what they stand for.

 VAN BADHAM

Stop whatever you’re doing and spend 2:15 on watching this. Pastor Jamal H Bryant doesn’t just take down Republican Herschel Walker; he buries him.
THIS is how you do political oratory. The clip has gone viral and it is pretty obvious why. Brutal.

Angus Taylor comes out swinging like a see-saw at the press club. The abstract economy is resilient and doing well. However, the people and small businesses that make it up aren’t. Good Onya Angus isn’t Labor saying that and acting on it when the LNP weren’t? It’s why you’re in opposition now and not the government.

The economy is about people – and people are struggling to keep up with the cost of living.

That’s the key message shadow treasurer Angus Taylor wanted to get across in his first major speech since the Albanese government’s first budget.

Mr Taylor said the overarching economy was in a relatively good position but businesses were struggling to find workers, waterlogged roads were deteriorating and power bills were hurting hip pockets.

“The Australian economy is fundamentally resilient,” he told the National Press Club on Wednesday.
