Suddenly, publicly, it’s all about the “whitelash”: the backlash by the largely British-descended settler class (aging, usually non-urban, often poorly educated) against the increasing recognition that Indigenous culture is a defining force in the way we think about Australia.

The only Racists here are the "No" voters crying Racism and raising Cain over color dividing the Nation by voting "Yes". The "Yes" Voters simply wish to correct history and like Canada NZ, and so many other Nations recognize the First Nation peoples in the Colonial origin of their constitution and not "cover it up". Burying it under the carpet is burying the nation's true historical identity. The term First Nation People has no color.
