Fighting Fake News with REAL 7/11/21; Bla Bla Bla, Greta defines Scott, Michale West Media, Alan Jones

18 year old Greta Thunberg nailed shamed and revealeled Scott Morrison , his  Plan, and slogan “The Australian Way” with her simple rebuttal ” Bla Bla Bla ”

The Paris Agreement doesn’t even mention coal, oil or gas, which is why a movement has been launched for a Fossil Fuel Non-proliferation treaty, modeled on the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Much of the energy and direction in the climate justice movement is coming from young people around the world. Greta Thunberg, the 18-year-old Swede who sparked the global Fridays for Future student strike movement, slammed the decades-old climate negotiations at a “Pre-COP” in Milan last month: “Build back better, blah, blah, blah. Green economy, blah, blah, blah. Net zero by 2050, blah, blah, blah….This is all we hear from our so-called leaders: words that sound great but so far have led to no action. Our hopes and dreams drown in their empty words and promises.” These global youth leaders, including Brianna Fruean from Samoa and Vanessa Nakate of Uganda, bring personal, frontline experiences with the climate emergency and a deep commitment to intersectional organizing and global justice to their work. “It’s now up to people,” Asad Rehman concluded. “People power is the only solution that’s left.”

For all the benefits wrought by the information revolution, social media has become a tool of dictators. Its profit-driven, surveillance-based business model favours those with deep pockets and deadly motives. In the first of two articles, cybersecurity expert and human rights activist Manal al-Sharif suggests way to invent the digital world for the better.

Alan Jones

It’s always about the money and Jones at 80 no longer warranted the cost.

Culture has little or nothing to do with Sky before or after dark, they are paid influencers and are selling a product. Selling a product boosted by overseas financing as they are failing to impress here. Murdoch has Americanised Australian politics. The staff they employ tend to be on their last legs, they represent the past, and certainly not the future. Like Jones Andrew Bolt has seen better days but never because he was a talent rather than a loyal corporate leech a tic too frightened to try out anywhere else he fed off the Murdochian teat. When he did try independence he failed. As we saw when he dragged his poor son Dom into The Andrew Bolt self-produced podcast that lasted 5 episodes.

When News Corp unveiled plans for Piers Morgan to headline an international prime time talk show we flippantly said “Move over Andrew Bolt, Alan Jones and Peta Credlin – there is a new conservative loudmouth in town”. Sadly, for one of these Australian conservative loudmouths at least, our prediction appears to have come true.

Veteran journalist Margo Kingston accuses Alan Jones of a smear campaign against media organisation Al Jazeera after he sided with Pauline Hanson in the aftermath of the How to Sell a Massacre documentary.

Jones works for Sky Channel an arm of Murdoch Media. Did he ever challenge News Corp because the Saudi Prince Alaweed and billionaire had a significant shareholding in Murdoch's companies?
Has he ever mentioned that Rupert Murdoch is on the board of Genie Oil and has major investments in illegal oil exploration in the Israeli occupied territories of Syria's Golan Heights which Trump has just declared as legally held?
Why does News Corp only write positive stories on Israel never the factual, yet negative ones? Why is it that Jones never declares Sky Channel, a suspiciously biased organisation?
Funny how easily someone Murdoch staff readily yell "fake news". But in defence of Pauline Hanson give us a break!! (ODT)

How will One Nation retaliate?

The question remains, however, what One Nation will do in its preference decisions, as opposed to what the Coalition does.
At the 2016 election, One Nation in Queensland adopted different "how to vote" cards in different electorates, sometimes suggesting split tickets to its voters, depending on whether they were disgruntled Labor or Liberal voters, or whether, as in the case of Wyatt Roy, there were scores to settle.
In response to Scott Morrison's declaration on preferences, Senator Hanson said on Thursday that "you, Prime Minister have just handed the keys to The Lodge to Bill Shorten, Di Natale and the CFMEU. You're a fool".
This sits rather uneasily with the fact that what she is suggesting is that her party's own preference decisions might not achieve exactly that result.
Senator Hanson's ultimate interest, however, rests not in who wins control of the House of Representatives but whether she gains another seat in the Senate and, with it, a balance of power position akin to the one that her colleagues were discussing so lustily in America.
This is the real election that voters in Queensland will be determining when they look into the eyes of One Nation on polling day.( Lara Tingle)

The comments were broadcast at the tail end of part two of last week’s Al Jazeera documentary on One Nation, the compelling result of the covert recordings.
“You cannot, in life, and especially in politics… take into account everybody’s emotions,” Ashby, Pauline Hanson’s chief of staff, tells Rodger Muller, the undercover operative he believes is the head of an Australian gun rights lobby group.
The men, accompanied by One Nation's Steve Dickson, are about to board a plane back to Australia, having completed their piss-powered bumpkins' tour of the odious Washington gun lobby, trying to solicit cash and pick up tips on how to weaken Australia’s gun laws.

A firm given the $14 million job of upgrading critical security at Parliament House in Canberra is in disarray with allegations of cocaine use, a sideline in an Uber-style app for escorts, debts to Russian friends and the intervention of a Morrison government minister.
Almost a year after the $75 million state-of-the art upgrade to protect MPs from acts of terrorism was due to be completed, the marble entrances of Parliament remain shrouded in scaffolding and 400 businesses across Australia are owed $21 million.

'We’re going to see young people die': Ecstasy use by school students doubles in three years

Andrew Bolt has a tendency an urgency, in fact, to remind us of drug and alcohol addiction among the Aboriginal communities of Australia but avoid mentioning that over 500,000 other Australians, in fact, are too. That figure is almost the total population of Indigenous Australians. Furthermore, he makes no mention of the fact that each of us knows and has known someone suffering from an addiction of one sort or another legal or illegal.
The use of just Ecstasy and Cocaine has doubled in the past 3 years which makes it highly likely that his children have used drugs of one sort or another if you take cannabis and alcohol and put them into the mix as well. Yet Bolt's focus is never on drugs used by all Australians but intensely concentrated and focused on Australia's First Nations peoples why? To be able to generalise that it's their Culture which is to blame and is somehow less than ours. The problem, however, is Bolt doesn't seem to be able to explain who it is that uses and can afford to use the vast quantities of drugs consumed in this country far more than what the small %of Indigenous users are able to afford and absorb.
If 500,000 is the estimate of current overall addicts needing help today and the number is doubling so fast, it's only logical to assume Australians of all classes are drug users. Further, there are far more addicted or and verging on addiction than even gestimated number put forward. Some possibly among or close to the holier than thou Andrew Bolt himself who he knows and helps keep their addiction secret. If it's normal for all of us to know an addict why would it be an exception for Andrew Bolt after all he says he's Australian. (ODT)

On 2GB and 4BC tonight - Turnbull takes credit. Abbott who?

How will history remember Tony Abbott? Badly!! Actually Abbott will be remembered for his harshness and discipline not of himself but others. Harsh primarily to workers and any organizations that fought to better their conditions. Harsh to asylum seekers, Harsh to those on welfare simply Harsh.

Saudis are the UN’s new human rights police

Link Independant  UK

" This does not just show the United Nations is a disgrace and a menace to the West. It also underlines a truth that collectives do not represent the most moral positions but the least inconvenient: "

Bolt is quite clear he doesn't believe in boards committees or any form of democratic process which entails a ballot. He believes in the rule of the jungle the rule of  the strongest leader whether they be Alexander the Great or Pol Pot. Democratic committees simply prove to be the least convenient to somebody's interests and are not always in the interests of regressive conservatives.
Bolt as usual doesn't tell the whole story which tends to distort what really occurred.  Mr Trad, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador at the UN in Geneva, was re-elected as chairman of a two week panel and not the head of the 49 seat council. Whilst controversial Saudi Arabia does not head the UNHRC as Bolt's banner suggests. Apart from that the USA  has an atrocious human rights record and is filled with more religious fruit cakes in congress than you can find on any planet. What on earth makes Bolt for one minute think the Saudi ambassador Mr Trad is someone incapable of chairing an UNHRC comittee? He is certainly more educated than Bolt most likely speaks more languages than Bolt.

Bolt seems to believe we are all as bigoted as he is and should show it.  Any wonder Andrew Bolt has been declared lazy and loose with his facts by judge M Bromberg. He hasn't really filled out the story, only presented an intentionally ambiguous post full of innuendo about someone who on any other day we call our ally in the Middle East. Who needs enemies if you have Andrew Bolt? Whatever reputation he has is at the behest of News Corporation respected for sport and entertainment but definitely not news anywhere in the Anglosphere. Again: Saudi Arabia Elected Chair of UN Human Rights ...

Green rentseekers get sniff of Turnbull cash

Link Murdoch's AFR

Can we assume Greg Hunt who so struggled under Abbott's leadership now sounds so much happier and refreshed since the spill.  Did he support Abbott in the ballot I assume he did. It goes to show if the ballot was rerun today just how different that vote would be 70 ++ in favour of Turnbull. I guess we should take notice if the growth in investment in renewables accelerates and fossil fuel declines which seems highly likely. Australia welcome to the real world. One thing is for certain Bolt hasn't a single $ invested in coal. However Turnbull will A truth Bolt shrugs off and fails to reveal in order to make his anti-Green stance have more impact.

An Aside

No Royal Commission required for business. The myth of systemic corporate fraud and mismanagement. I believe Corman and Bolt would blame  over regulation for the crime. Abbott said that when 10 Liberal MPs were busted in NSW. It's the laws fault!! Makes a $63million investigation into pilfering a political joke.

ABC wants reward for backing Turnbull

Link The Canberra Times

The ABC could be dead, buried and expect nothing and it would be a reward just to see Abbott go given his election lie and the hand in glove Faustian relationship he had with Murdoch. The only thing that stood in the way of Aunty being chopped liver was a hostile senate.

Murdoch's is in his 80's and wants to not just control of 66% of print but  a much larger share in the total Australian media market in which there aren't that many players. In particular he want's to steal the ABC's successful and long term investment in digital media. Having cherry picked what he wants he couldn't care less in other aspects of the ABC.

The ABC didn't back Turnbull it did however reflect the Liberal Party sentiments on just what a poor job Abbott had been doing.  30 successive disastrous  polls showed the public were  crying out for an explanation too. Explanation that in the last 2 months Bolt no longer tried to defend. The obvious propaganda for Abbott was dragging News Corp's readership down so much so wars were breaking out between it's National masthead The Australian, news.com.au and the Herald Sun. Their demographic readership just wouldn't accept the crap that Bolt, Devine and Akerman could dish out at their worst. Even they turned from supporting Abbott to attacking Shorten and focusing on every sideshow issue that seemed to make the Abbott government look better than it was.

They really will be just another also ran with Turnbull as PM Guess we won't be seeing any Lomborg articles in the Conversation they will no doubt be reserved for the Quadrant if and when he ever bothers to write one.

Column - Why Alan Jones and I are still high-fiving

" So boo hoo hoo, we cry. We helped get Abbott elected, but couldn’t save him."

No Bolt it just goes to show what a minority you and Jones talk to. Even clocks are right twice a day. But in your case even that's in doubt. It's not the influence you have it's the" apparent "influence Murdoch claims to provide politicians  that makes the fearful  beholden. That was Abbott's fault he didn't trust all media or take them into his confidence only some 2GB and News Corp.

Turnbull is not as frighted or as controlling he knows that not all commentators in the Murdoch hive are Andrew Bolts or the Herald Sun. Because even News Corp needs to be relevant sometimes to survive. However what a minority voice you in fact are. Your ego will just have to deal with it for a while but you'll forget humbleness isn't your forte. I doubt you  even speak for Alan Jones or that he sees you as some sort of comrade in arms. You both may have supported Abbott but I suspect that's all you have in common. Manipulated media do the pollies’ dirty work

Tears before bombtime

Link Murdoch's Herald Sun

Bolt over the past 6 months has selected some 6 cases worlwide of suicide bombers. He loves it when he can get up close and personal. From these intimate events he generalizes that anybody who says 'allahu akbar' is a potential terrorist therefore all Muslims must be potential terrorists.

All Austrians say 'gruess got' also 'god is great'  this is a greeting common to Christianity and Islam both . Using Bolt logic we are all either potential terrorists or using simple logic all human  and have that in common. How would you prefer to live life with common sense or nonsense?

There are lots of cases when Christians who self sacrificed in their belief they were performing necessary acts and we often called them heroic we have canonized some and called them saints. Sorry Bolt six cows don't make a herd let alone a cattle station or an industry.

African and Arab media report Turnbull softer on border policies

Link Paywall to Murdoch's Australian

" Malcolm Turnbull has made his first mistake in playing the uncomfortable role of a conservative - giving the impression he will soften our border laws."

Why does Andrew Bolt prefer to believe and take the words of ISIS as gospel but then distorts Australian media report? His comments aren't just opinion they are a total distortion of what was being said.

UNHRC have commented on the inhumane conditions in Australian offshore detention centers. This has been well documented and confirmed by the Moss report and others. So if the slightest concern is acknowledged about the conditions and their possible need for improvement Bolt takes the opportunity to notify people smugglers that our "border laws" are to be soften. I believe providing advertising material for people smugglers to use in promoting their  core business is tantamount to assisting in a criminal act. Bolt is far more proactive in encouraging people smuggling and crimes against humanity than the reverse.Transfield and detention centres: It's no longer business as usual
