Fighting Fake News with REAL 16/9/21; Morrison has handed the Pacific over for an Anglo/American Industrial Military bag of beans for which we will pay, News Corp the new Climate Change crusader. An Informed Comment, The world of alternative facts

Orcus (Latin: Orcus) was a god of the underworld, punisher of broken oaths

A US nuclear submarine in the water

The Anglo-Speaking White, Christian, covered wagons have circled in the Asia- Pacific. The EU has been dumped unceremoniously and the region’s Asian nations totally ignored in a nuclear agreement declared not to be a nuclear agreement. Morrison, Biden’s  “little mate down under, announced this morning. Basically, he’s given pride of place and handed Australia over to the US and UK turning us into the most significant Anglo-American & British nuclear military base, no target, on the planet. One which we have to pay for and build. Now that’s leadership. We are in effect the Mexicans and we are paying for the Biden/Johnson wall.

Can you believe Morrison is building an absolutely new nuclear submarine fleet that’s not a nuclear submarine fleet? He’s torn up the contract the LNP signed with the French less than a decade ago now that’s fucked good-will and future trust all for an Industrial Military trade deal. It does nothing other than in the short term and on the surface make us look and sound more like Kim Jong-un than the “goodies” to the rest of the world and definitely the 51rst State of America. In effect, the LNP have given the keys to the US and UK to invade the nation, have made us their worker bees in their new trade agreement that’s very very different from China’s Silk Belt road

“Australia is not seeking to establish nuclear weapons or establish a civil nuclear capability,” Mr Morrison said.

Morrison sounds like the head of Phillip Morris who declared they were becoming the world’s foremost anti- smoking organization bringing “iQos technology and heat sticks” to the world. Or was that Rupert Murdoch who said his Media had turned the corner and become the world’s foremost media spruiker for Climate Change? The nuke subs just might be built around the time the LNP get on board with the rest of the world in saving the planet. In the meantime it's the desperate but costly old posturing of a political limp dick.

They were appearing to talk up their close friendship, but Scott Morrison and Joe Biden’s AUKUS announcement quickly turned awkward when the US President appeared to forget our Prime Minister’s name. Mr Biden thanked British Prime Minister Boris Johnson but then paused as he addressed Mr Morrison. “Thank you, Boris … I want to thank, ah, that fella down under,” Mr Biden said.

Doing Business with LNP Australia and “That Fella Down Under ” = Shake hands and deal with the LNP & Morrison and you'd better count your fingers. All this to change the Australian  front pages for a few days

Australia signed a multi-billion dollar contract to buy French submarines in 2016. The new agreement effectively ends that deal. “This is a decision contrary to the letter and the spirit of the cooperation that prevailed between France and Australia,” France’s foreign ministry said in a statement. “The American choice, which leads to the removal of an ally and a European partner like France from a longstanding partnership with Australia, at a time when we are facing unprecedented challenges in the Indo-Pacific region… marks a lack of consistency that France cannot but note and regret,” it added.

The faux Damascene converts have been doing the rounds in the Murdoch empire of late, stirring interest in matters green and attempting to shift, if ever so slightly, discussions on climate change. Known for being a stable of environmental vandals and fossil fuel standard bearers, News Corp has gone for a green turn of sorts.

News Corp Turns Climate Change Inactivist

May be an image of fire and text that says 'Let me get this straight.... In Australia a Citizen cannot use more than $10,000 cash in any transaction because of transparency of corruption. @cporterwa can use $1,000,000 without knowing who gave it to him. Sounds fair.'

The way countries are currently being governed or taken over, for that matter, one couldn’t but agree that nationalism, dictatorship or a mode of fascism is prevalent.

That Australia needs a change in Government is becoming more apparent by the day. The current one has all the ingredients of a recipe for disaster – corruption, dictatorship, secrecy; if it governs for much longer, and should it win another term, I fear change might become less likely over time.

Indeed, if Morrison and his corrupt band of Ministers win the next election, they will become emboldened to shift the balance of power further to the far right.

If we acknowledge that we live in a world that is more complex, more scientifically advanced than at any other time in the history of the world, it then brings on a moral and ethical dilemma that we are at a loss to explain or cope with.

Socialism comprehends empathy; conservatism and its partner capitalism do not.

Some thoughts for the day (John Lord )

I think accepting and embracing change is one key aspect of what we try to define as wisdom.

How is it possible for the inherited rich and privileged to understand poverty – how can those with the means to pay medical costs understand the inability of those with ill-health who cannot?

In 2011 Malcolm Turnbull didn’t think there was a need for an inquiry into the news media but agreed with the then PM Gillard that Newscorp should stop publishing crap.

Fighting Fake News with Real ,8/1/20; The toxic puppeteer; Craig Kelly the bright spark Morrison helped relight; Who Scott Morrison admires but you were never told; Bad Faith and leadership;

It's so easy for Murdoch to hit the front pages for the benefit of Fake News and the interests of a few of us. So hard and much longer to discover the truth it requires work and a ticker. It's so easy to divide people and groups that really have a common bond and it's why the ALP find it more difficult to show the unity in diversity. It's easy to lose sight of history when it's no longer searched or taught. So easy to normalise the abnormal when all the LNP, IPA, Murdoch,2GB and donors have to do is simply attack togetherness and the common good. He simply put what we've seen during the fires on page 3 (ODT)

Fox Business doesn’t disclose guest on Iran is a lobbyist for defense contractors

Fox Business hosted a guest who supported President Donald Trump's actions on Iran without disclosing that he’s a lobbyist for the defense industry.
Don Bramer is the founder, chairman, and president of the Bramer Group, which states that it works “on issues that relate to defense, intelligence, and small / medium manufacturers.” He previously served in the Navy and worked for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the George H.W. In the third quarter of 2019, Bramer and his firm lobbied for defense contractors ARCH Global Precision - Tuscaloosa, Kongsberg Protech Systems, and MSI-Defense Systems US, according to federal lobbying data.

Clear Link Between Craig Kelly And Total F*#king Stupidity, Scientists Claim – The Shovel

We are in many ways an incomplete democracy struggling along, so overburdened with the luggage consecutive conservative leaders have packed into bags so small that we never seem to find time for the bigger issues of nationhood.

Think a republic, a bill of rights; an overdue rehash of our Constitution has needed attention for many years. Indeed, a rethink of our democracy and how it functions should be at the very centre of our thinking.

But alas, given the conservative preoccupation with incremental change it would take them an eternity to make any major transformations.

The baggage they have lugged from one year to the next means 2020 will be a hard slog (part 2) - » The Australian Independent Media Network

The mates in faith that Scott Morrison admires

In 2008, Scott Morrison used his first speech in parliament to tell us how he had been “greatly assisted by the pastoral work of many dedicated church leaders”, specifically mentioning “pastors Brian Houston and Leigh Coleman.”
Most people are aware of Brian Houston, leader of the Hillsong Church, after he was censured by the Royal Commission into Child Sex Abuse for his failure to report to authorities his father’s confessed serial sexual abuse of children, and for the grave conflict of interest in dealing with the sex claims himself.
This is the man that Scotty wanted to bring to dinner at the White House.
But you may not be aware of Leigh Coleman, another former Hillsong executive who, two years before Scotty’s confession of admiration, was investigated for allegedly ripping off government funded Indigenous charities, as reported by The Australian.

Andrew Bolt's Blog, 14/2/18; The Shovel; Informed Comment so not by Andrew Bolt obviously; Israeli Police call for Bolt's hero Netanyahu to be charged for corruption;

Malcolm Turnbull has moved to clear up any confusion about the meaning of the word ‘partner’, after earlier claiming that Barnaby Joyce’s girlfriend was exempt from nepotism regulations because they were not technically partners at the time.
Mr Turnbull said that, where he was from, a partner was always defined as ‘A senior position within a legal, accounting or financial practice, traditionally indicating co-ownership or equity’.
“As far as I can tell, Ms Campion is not involved in any of those professions, and so I’m really not sure why people are referring to her as a partner,” Mr Turnbull said.
“It does a disservice to the men and women of Minter Ellison, of Allens Arthur Robertson, of Mallesons, who have spent years working their way up the ladder, to all of a sudden attach the term ‘partner’ to a woman who is basically just a well-paid social media coordinator”.
Asked to use the term in a sentence, Mr Turnbull said, “Malcolm was a partner in global financial firm Goldman Sacs, and later sold his shares for an undisclosed sum”.

Why are our politicians held to much lower

Why are our politicians held to much lower standards than the rest of us?
In what workplace would the married boss promoting his pregnant girlfriend be acceptable?
In what workplace would there be so little transparency about the employment, duties and remuneration of staff?
In what workplace would it be acceptable to tell blatant lies about the state of the company?
In what workplace would it be acceptable to turn up drunk?
Imagine how it would go down with the ATO if I tried to claim my attendance at a colleague’s wedding as a work expense.  Or if I claimed for publications that have absolutely nothing to do with my work.

While 'Not the Worst' of His Crimes, Israeli Police Call for Indicting Netanyahu on Corruption Charges

Observers note Israel "won't put him on for war crimes and crimes against humanity, but hey, guess it's something."
The recommendations on Tuesday will now go to the attorney general, who will decide whether to prosecute him or not.
"Police allege Netanyahu received champagne, cigars, jewellery and clothing valued at around $280,000, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported."
Case 2000, involves allegations that Netanyahu tried to come to a deal for positive coverage in the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, in exchange for weakening its rival, Israel Hayom.

Alleged terror stabber's sister attacked police with knife

When we can't get the records of our own politicians like Barnaby Joyce's  correct who are we to blame. His Nationality and his Army record were wrong. So how can we expect Dutton's new Homeland Department will get it right from here on in?

An international student who allegedly stabbed a man in Melbourne home linked to a terror organisation by her sister was given a 5-star rating.
Conservatives like Dutton tend to the wholesale blaming  Islam and all Muslims for events like this when they don't do the same for Christian inspired cases. MSM amplify the circumstance, however, offer little context. The real failure, however, is ASIO and Immigration that seem unable to do their job of informed checks on who it is applying for a visa. Given the family record, it couldn't have been that hard to discover the sister's past after all the media has in a very short period of time.
Apparently, in this case, the wealthy and the elite of Bangladesh or any other country there isn't considered any need for the closer supervision and rejection lesser people on the social ladder get. This failure on the part of what is now known as Dutton's Homeland Department. There is no justification for the wholesale banning of immigrants when the biggest failure is, in fact, is ours. We let Milo in knowing full well he's here to stir up trouble and cost us.  We fail to advertise jobs for Australians and create problems and corporate scams associated with 457 Visa's which have been blatantly misused. Basically, it's our incompetence that's the problem and not the victims of it such as those on Manus and Nauru. Bolt will nevertheless call for a blanket ban.

“Our lives should be subject to constant reflection, otherwise the way forward is locked into the constraints of today’s thoughts.”John Lord
"As I write I reflect on the year 2017. I can only conclude that it is another wasted in the advancement of our nation. I try to think of things positive that I might share but I cannot.
I stop, hesitate, because marriage equality must surely go down as a magnificent victory for the people. I can’t even count how many pieces I wrote on the subject. Yes, it was a victory for the people, we did it in spite of the politicians not doing what they were elected to do.We showed what we are capable of doing when we turn our collective attention to the common good." John Lord

I thought I'd end 2017 with word of reflection attempting some truth that doesn't attempt to evoke hatred the hatred of difference that we happened to hear from Andrew Bolt ,the Herald Sun and News Corp all year round.

Andrew Bolt's Blog,21/1/17; Informed Comment; Quick the truth before Andrew bolt gets back;

Bourke Street driver identified as James 'Jimmy' Gargasoulas

The man who allegedly mowed down around two dozen people in Melbourne's CBD on Friday, killing four and injuring more than 20 others, has a history of drug use, violence and psychological problems. He's young white Christian and had a mental health problem and was calling on god's revenge. What would have Bolt said had he been Muslim. Young white men are a far greater problem when it comes to terrorizing us with potential violence and we call them Australians. We know today what Bolt would have ignored had James been Muslim he has done in the past with others like Hader and Monis that this Melbourne Killer Driver Had A Long History Of Family Violence And Mental Health Issues. Given that knowledge haven't our Mental Health Services been failing us?
