After public outrage that the NSW government had ruled out
trying to pursue the $30m, the state crime commissioner, Michael Barnes,
on Friday committed the agency to revisiting its previous investigation
into whether it could confiscate any of the Obeid family’s assets as
the proceeds of crime.
“Senior Counsel’s advice at the time was that
there were no reasonable prospects of recovering the proceeds of any
Criminal Asset Recovery Act orders that might be made. For that reason,
the cost of pursuing such orders could not be justified, the statement

Efforts by Israel and its lobby to equate criticism of Israeli crimes

overdrive. Yet a new poll indicates that this campaign has failed even
with the vast majority of Jewish American voters. The survey
commissioned by the Jewish Electorate Institute, a group led by
supporters of the Democratic Party, contains several eye-catching
findings. A quarter of Jewish American voters agree that Israel is an
apartheid state – a number that shoots up to 38 percent among those
under age 40. Twenty-two percent of Jewish voters overall agree that
Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians, a figure that rises
to an astonishing 33 percent among the younger group. Moreover, Israel’s
treatment of Palestinians is similar to racism in the US, according to
34 percent of Jewish voters surveyed. That figure exceeds two in five
among those aged under 40.

the price of war,” the headline read. The article came a day after the

victims of Israel’s most recent 11-day offensive, in which the IDF
frequently targeted residential areas of Gaza, known as the world’s
largest open-air prison. Haaretz’s focus on the children killed in Gaza
was especially noteworthy, said author and Brooklyn College professor
Louis Fishman, considering the newspaper’s “readers also send their
children to fight in Israel’s wars.” “This is unprecedented,” Fishman
tweeted.
Israel Attacks on Gaza Left Strained Health Care System in Tatters
After
a ceasefire on Thursday, Palestinians took stock of damage wrought by
airstrikes that left doctors dead and at least 19 health care facilities
destroyed.
Israel’s missile attack on media offices in Gaza City last weekend was successful. A gratifying response
came quickly from the head of The Associated Press, which had a bureau
in the building for 15 years: “The world will know less about what is
happening in Gaza because of what happened today.”
For people who care about truth, that’s outrageous. For the Israeli government, that’s terrific.
The AP president, Gary Pruitt, said “we are shocked and horrified
that the Israeli military would target and destroy the building housing
AP’s bureau and other news organizations in Gaza.”
There’s ample reason to be horrified. But not shocked.
Andrew
Bolt simply reports the Israeli statements as rote when in fact they
are very opposite is true. He never publicly apologizes when wrong even
when convicted in our courts. Rarely a sorry is said unless in secret.
In settlements dictated by his lawyers not to be made public.
What's of major significance is that no matter how prominent the news stories are if they fall after Thursday night or before Sunday eve you generally don't hear from Andrew Bolt.The current Israeli war an example despite Bolt telling us over the years just what a friend and supporter of Israel he is. The impression we get is Andrew Bolt only works to rule. He's treading water and complaining he's locked in, can't fly out of the country he despises. That relationship with us has always been what it is and as his mother thought of us far to far from being European.
It seems Bolt doesn't have the passion you'd expect from a lead journalist or other headline entertainer. It makes one suspect that he's not the real productive force behind his output and that he's just going through the paces. At sixty Bolt hasn't any of the enthusiasm he once had when he and Tony Abbott were "mates" and he felt he had the inside running rail and saw himself as a front runner. Bolt appears a jaded, fading star only there for the money which is more than the value of his productive output and shrinking ratings,
