The first reality that can't be be forgotten whilst the election might be over we are not in any spin free zone on Bolt's blog. But rather entrenched in the Murdoch /Bolt save Abbott zone. Which for most Australians is somewhat nearer the twilight zone.
Bolt is not celebrating anything unexpected but rather a very expected reduced majority victory for Baird. Bolt's effort is to now drown out the sound of the very reduced majority which has resulted in a true opposition being voted back in NSW.
Scott Morrison's excuse for Abbott's significant absence was "we wanted to the NSW Libs clean air" which was ver true because Abbott is still very much on the nose. As for Dastyari's comments on Ferguson they were somewhat accurate. Bolt has called Jensen and Laming and Turnbull dis loyal in fact everything under the sun for wnting to strengthen and unite the Liberal party. He's called Malcolm Fraser a turncoat when Fraser never stopped being a Liberal. He resigned from the Liberal party when he felt it had become a conservative party. In other words he let it be known he couldn't follow such a right wing party. Bolt has spat fire and ranted at all of these men.
Ferguson remains in the Labour Party As does Michael Costa. Both disagree with current Labor policies and doesn't agrree with what he sees as a party shift to the left. Ferguson now works for the gas and oil industry APPEA and and has publically argued against Labor's current policy on privatisation and CSG. He even took it upon himself to be part of TV campaigns. Bolt is holding him up as a party hero had he been a Liberal he would have been lower than a snakes belly. Straight forward and outright LIE by Henderson and Bolt. Bolt and Henderson run the one Murdoch global argument presented to malign all public media world wide. US, UK, and they generally turn to ratings to try to vindicate it. Unfortunately they can't do that in Bolt's case because he rates like a concrete zeppelin. Ex Murdoch staff are presenters on the ABC Karvelas is a drive time host as is Amanda Vanstone and Tom Switzer to name some.
I'm not paid to be a researcher however I know a lie when I see one. Money buys people it's quite simple. Whether once left or right money speaks. Murdoch buys commentators and not reporters for their professionalism. He expects an editorial line and pays for it. His media is a business model knits with the money it's not independent of it is it is biased towards it. This same argument about being fair an balanced has been run past all Murdoch media and programs and fair and balanced fails miserably worldwide. Look at the Bolt Report line up of guests it speaks for itself. In one form or other they are part of the Murdoch stable.
Anyway the charter of the ABC and it's staff is not about who you vote for it's about professionalism what and how you present information. It's critical of all sides and not a cheer squad for any unlike Murdoch media that's the difference. All audits have found the ABC is in line with it's charter of non bias. That can't be said of the Murdoch message.
The ABC is owned by us all and presents critically for us all it asks the hard questions no matter who. That is journalism and it remains the most trusted media outlet in the country. No, it remains the most supported media outlet in this country and thank the wisdom of our forebears for that.
