In September Abbott declared troops were being sent to Iraq and declared a "war on terror" and started alienating Australian Muslims by saying they aren't doing enough. Until then we lived in the most livable cities in the world and we felt it.
Since we have seen Blair and Bolt put their foot on the media accelerator disparaging Australian Muslims. Bolt almost does it daily. Like the best klanners they have become recruiting agents stirring and provoking looking in hope for incidents they might call terror. The slightest of events are magnified as a sign of danger. Couple this with the governments ambiguous and Orwellian comments and warnings of "we won't be intimidated" "keep your eyes open" "go about your business" and a feeling of unease has been created. The rise of groups like Reclaim Australia and the Patriots Defense League supported by Bolt with their Nazi and Fascist symbols do give the impression that Australia is under attack from within but not by Muslims.
We are being sold a load of crap for the sole purpose of political advantage a tactic that Tony Abbott learnt from the time he was a pup mentored by Bob Santa Maria. It was rubbish then and it is now. There were no "reds under beds " then and there isn't an army of Jihadi's here now. However $2 bill dollars to have the ADF languishing in Iraq and failing to have any impact in their civil war and the AFP and ASIO playing terror catchers of teenagers has Australians under the tightest scrutiny in our history. It's as if the Abbott government is an invading force that will never have power wrested from it's hands again, and yes we have every reason to be afraid but not of our kids.
