Even if it's a regional problem Australia has refused to be involved. They are no longer interested in saving anybody from drowning nor it appears from being raped. A 23 year old woman has claimed to having been raped in Nauru. Abbott has brushed it off as an Australian responsibility which he says we handed over to Nauru. Totally untrue under International law as with the case of New Guinea and Cambodia. You can't just abrogate your Human Right's responsibilities with a payment to another party sovereign state or not.
After 2 months at sea without supplies of any kind fights have been known to have broken out and some 100 ++ deaths have resulted on a boat stranded in the Andaman Sea. Abbott's response has been neither to drop supplies nor have any involvement in their hellish situation. Simply Abbott says the deaths will stop only if you stop the boats. Well these people's boats have stopped and they aren't drowning but they are nevertheless dying which is of no concern to Abbott somebody else can do the lifting because we have definitely become leaners on this one.
Andrew Bolt of course applauds Abbott's hardline and even exports the ideas globally as advice. Stop the boats at sea if necessary tow them back illness or starvation no matter. In this case don't get involved just watch from a distance and let others take the flack. As far as Andrew Bolt concerned these people have no value they are just human detritus. So as long as they don't drown we are justified not caring what happens.If they do drown it was the people smugglers fault or one of our neighbours. Any wonder we are now no longer seen as global citizens.

Bolt makes no attempt to ask or listen to why people are so desperate and he simply accuses them worthless and a danger capable of terror or the worst of crimes. Just to create an atmosphere suspicion and fear. He seems to forget the migrants first brought to Australia were poor uneducated Greeks, Italians Jugoslavs and Turks some still have a poor grasp of English only their 2nd language after 60 years. However they aren't an underclass of under-assimilated immigrants Bolt talks of or maybe they are to this bigot. They have contributed to this country. They have run businesses and built more things than Bolt ever has. All he currently does is go to great effort encourage fear divide and tear things apart. Even the Lebanese he so disparages are largely Christian and those that are Muslim are respectable as any other groups of immigrants this country has seen. Shame Abbott Shame.

There is absolutely no indication here to what Fitzsimons participation in that conversation might have been. Bolt as usual twists things in order to get his disparaging point about academics out. Given the majority of employees of the public service are women. Bolt I suspect in an election year would be happy to see the Unions provoked into action, action that effects all Commonwealth departments and the services they provide. Yet again disruption for political advantage is Abbott's game. Are we to see an early election?

Unions are the association of workers. Workers create profit. Given that workers have no rights in the decision making of the businesses of this country they do have the right to sell their labour in a fair and organized way if they so wish. With unemployment at 6.2% and rising and only 12.5% unionized why are people like Bolt freaked? Isn't it better to be in a union and insure the safety of your job and the industry it's part of? In Germany unions representatives are ensured seats on company boards and look how well they run their economy. Is the example of Germany a problem Mr Bolt?
It's such a luxury Bolt has he just moderates anything he doesn't like out of his blogs. If Sales wants a question answered she is entitled to ensure the person being interviewed isn't allowed to just moderate her question to suit themselves which politicians tend to do. Leigh Sales was not responding to Turnbull and he has no problem with differing interview styles used by journalists. He said he himself adopted both as a journalist and changed when acting as a barrister before the bench. Bolt has just changed the context of what Turnbull said. Bolt alters facts their history to suit what ever purpose he wants. It's why he has 3 defamation suits upheld against him and a conviction under the RDA for vilification and loose use of facts and lies. Turnbull actually agreed with Sales when on the Bolt Report that various interview styles are used and all are valid. However he adopted a more forensic approach when he acted as a barrister in court and that's what Bolt conveniently omits suggesting he agreed with Bolt which wasn't the case.

It's pretty convenient way to shift blame and put it fairly on the shoulders of those experiencing poverty. It's also convenient way of side stepping the issue that there 750,000 known unemployed even more under-employed and many more unregistered because they are incapable of interacting with the authorities. People just living hand to mouth on the fringe. After all there are only 150,000 jobs. Nice deflection from economic realities.

Billie Jo is not the pivotal point about which conversation of government policy should take place nor should she be. Billie Jo stories are about a growing scab in our society. She is a symptom. She can't manage herself nor could her mother. Yes she is also a failure of an understaffed and struggling Human Services Department an embarrassment to this prosperous country brought to light by SBS. We know that Billie Jos exist but really don't want to.
Don't give Abbott the moral justification to just intervene in her life and that of the rest of the poor without also intervening in the relationships in our economy that insure the growth of the unemployed and underemployed which spits out more and more Billie Jos. If that happens and is ignored we will have just created another manufactured stand alone political issue to draw attention away from the main game our economy and the poverty it feeds on. The truth is there are Billie Jos that cut across all classes however not all are as economically damaged as Billie Jo. They remain hidden and have wealthy parents or relations it's the only difference.

I wonder when this horrible thing called war began and humans did atrocious things to each other ? In 1995 Christians killed 8000 Muslims in Bosnia raped and made pregnant countless women. So no Mr Bolt it's not the exclusive domain of Islam. However won might ask in the case of Iraq who is doing the most to defend and liberate the Yizidis from this abhorrent state of affairs? Yes it's Muslims the Shiia Militia and Kurds backed up by the Australian trained Iraqi Army if they can ever get their act together. What Bolt fails to ever mention is that Muslims are in the main heroes in this fight as well as victims but that doesn't suit his narrative.

Again History has no relevance for Bolt in understanding what goes on because it often reveals facts that are inconvenient to his narrative.

and violent insurgencies such as the ongoing Boko Haram Islamist
terrorist campaign, which has killed and maimed Christians and Muslims

The rise of these sects has also been linked to politicians for their selfish ambitions. What Bolt fails to conveniently leave out is the Christian involvement that gave rise to these movements in the first place.
Again Bolt conveniently overlooks the fact that Christians (his team) are far from innocents. But then he's a propagandist. What of those children left behind in Bosnia?
There is a hell of a lot more people around the world that watch and listen to John Oliver than Andrew Bolt. Wouldn't Bolt just love to be doing the BR from the US what an ego boost. What a ratings boost. Just a dream of a man dying in a desert. Attacking women (frightbats) unfortunately doesn't go over as well in the US.
One thing is for sure Bolt media isn't a reflection of reality whereas Oliver's satire is a true eye opener. If we need Bolt to to advise us on forgetting the cultural cringe then it's certain to exist because he more than most feels it. He prefers to be Dutch.
Bolt advises us on forgetting a lot of things Abbott's International bloopers, our most livable cities, they're dangerous, First Australians, Climate Change, multiculturalism, our lack of Foreign Aid and the list goes on. Watch John Oliver he's not only as funny as, but revealing.
However now that George Brandis is director of the Arts he might go the way of Pistol and Boo 
Why all this media chatter from the bleachers we run a free market don't we? Andrew Bolt is certainly not one to make anyone the wiser on economic matters. The TTP and Pharma companies is another matter bye bye free market.
Two very thirsty bloggers Bevis Blair and Butthead Bolt rushing to the first real drop of water they have seen in a year. Be warned mirages also occur in deserts this just might be one. The coalition just might be creating manufactured issues after all they were given center stage with the new budget. Any rabbits pulled out of the hat by Hockey are sure to be in edible just a fluffy show.
