What a jerk. Bolt operates from a position of trying to stop progress rather than trying to accommodate it it. Yes Australian politicians do represent their electorates are in the parliament. Well spotted Mr Bolt. However they don't necessarily represent themselves or another group of which they are a part. Julie Bishop is a woman but does not represent women. Bolt lies Pearson doesn't wants an Aboriginal council written into the constitution and believes it unnecessary. It's as much a lie as Bolt telling us there's been a 17 year hiatus in global warming. Bolt just distorts issues entirely for his own purpose.
Yes Pearson does want a council elected by Aborigines Yes he wants it to be recognized and to advise soley on Aboriginal concerns . In much the same way Banks, Mining, and other groups advise on what concerns them. Women have an electoral lobby does that mean men are disadvantaged?
Bolt continually argues that Aborigines can't be identified as a group because the lines are too blurred ? Gender is also blurred all societal groupings are but it doesn't prevent being a nation. Bolt denies history but invokes it in his denials he denies colour but invokes it when claiming white Aborigines are charlatans. Bolt is allowed to prove anyone identifying as Aborigine not to be. However he better get his facts right. The last time he was caught lying and being loose with facts. It was settled in court.
It's what Abbott doesn't want. To identify someone he elects to lose their citizenship knowing Bolt's experience and that of Kevin Andrews vs Dr Haneef, he wants the decision entirely in his hands of his minister and not with the law. "What if the courts prove me wrong?"
The Aboriginal Council can be elected by whoever is deemed Aboriginal not however by Bolt but by them as a group.. Bolt can appeal if he wants and lose if he wants he's entirely free to do so. But he can protest about the recognition of a council by Aborigines for Aborigines who identify as a First Nation people but it will get him no where. So why is he doing this? Why is something reasonably simple made so complicated. A request just to be heard and recognized from the bottom up rather than the top down. I suspect it has more to do with Native title and land rights than anything else. In British law individuals are simply given title to land to do with what they will. However recognition of Aborigines as differing nations and acceptance of the Native title Act complicates things and complicates the sale and leasing of property rights. Individualizing Aborigines and ridding the country of the Act would facilitate the opening up of property and disadvantage the indigenous further. Murdoch online churnalism site just might have altered the news taken off the wire. T Chad has banned the full face veil that only exposes the eyes however the image used is of Afghanistan which is the only country to wear that Burqa shown in the report. Above are images of women in Chad and their normal dress. It simply shows the sensationalism of Murdoch media most women in Chad are in fact uneffected by the ban as it's not a general part of their dress. Well done Murdoch exaggerate and lie with pictures.

Shorten knows most millionaires are running SMFS and realize there are more than enough concessions there not have them grasping for a pension. Abbott's scheme is in fact a hollow one that saves little over a 4 year period. Those millionaire pensioners who will be effected are already devising schemes to ensure they still get the full pension by divesting their wealth among their children and getting cash inerest payments for the loans.
However look at the length of the trolls blog to tell us otherwise and how important an issue this is. There is an enormous bluster over nothing which is made to sound politically important but isn't. Shorten realizes the purely symbolic nature of Abbot's exercise. The real target should have been the super concessions allowed the rich on the super funds.

Abbott put his foot in his mouth. He didn't just want to "toughen" the laws he wanted to remove the law altogether and allow an arbitrary decision to be made without scrutiny by a minister on the most important right a person has citizenship and why? He tried to trash central tenet of British law.Abbott now needs Malcolm in the middle to help pull his foot out. If the GDP is growing why is it the public sector workers are required to take a cut but business allowed to increase their profit? Surely that's simply widening the income gap. As it is the middle class is shrinking in this country the very class that's the engine of the economy that creates the small business jobs we all rely on. Abbott's interest merely aligns itself with the mega corporations. Fast cars, villas, and luxury goods aren't the investment that drives the country foward.
Bolt fails to mention that this terrorist was a white supremacist and a Christian to boot because according to Bolt Christians don't jihad only Muslims do.
However imagine if we didn't have the gun laws we do what those bent white supremacists with Nazi symbols who Bolt lauds as good old boys and merely exceptions in Reclaim Australia and Patriot Defence League might get up to. What is it that holds them back from their sordid dreams but our gun laws?

Sounds like the ranting maniac of yesterday Bolt is taking a few steps backwards but still claiming the territory. Shorten is prepared to front the commission sooner than later and doesn't seem intimidated by the likes of Bolt and Abbott's media hive at Newscorp. Bolt thought Martin Ferguson was his ally but found himself naked with nobody there to help. The aggressive tone has now settled to a whimper and has become a "but".
Bolt finds integrity a strange beast because it has no sides. Ferguson is acting in a most unpredictable way for him. It's something Bolt doesn't understand because he throws principle overboard in a win at all cost and by any means game.
Yes faith is a rant as is much of denialist rhetoric. However rant backed by scientific method with the interests of the poor at heart is on far higher moral ground than rant for the mere purpose venal interests and the profit for a few.

Always in Bolt's raves on trying to discredit the Pope he just distorts and lies. One of his constant lies is there has been a 17 year hiatus in warming. Science is a continuing activity which Bolt seems to ignore. NOAA one of the worlds leading scientific bodies on climate has completed the most comprehensive 3 year review of past research in the field correcting errors made over the years. Their conclusion has put an end to any suggestion there has been a hiatus in warming, there hasn't. Bolt is wrong.

As with science Bolt simply ignores the truth of technological progress which has reduced the cost of green power to well below that of coal. However in Bolt's calculations the fundamental cost of pollution and it's effects on public health that has to be born by the communities it services is never taken into consideration. Let's remind Bolt ,who claims the moral high ground, that the grumpy old man the Pope, who has no insight, has 1.2 billion followers and science on his side. He is telling his followers if you want to fuck wear a condom and prevent abortions. If you want to fuck the planet make sure you also wear a condom and don't create an abortion of it. Bolt in all his wisdom and advocacy is complaining about is the cost of the condom and like all rapists if he hasn't got one who cares.

Recognition and white mans guilt. Did Newspoll do a survey of indigenous people and ask if they wanted recognition? Sure as hell not. The statistics would show the majority would agree with Bolt and Pearson forget the constitution. However Bolt for the purpose of his argument strongly denies this because then all of his so called "dangers" would simply prove to be a fantasy of his racist scare mongering.
Yes Aborigines want a voice in Canberra. However they want their elected voice a recognized body not one appointed by the government of the day, not another Mundine. Pearson doesn't expect it to be a body with constitutional recognition or statutory powers but he does want it to be a recognized voice and one listened to on Aboriginal issues. There are plenty of self elected lobby groups and think tanks governments do listen to. Pearson is asking for a voice from the bottom up not top down.
Yes race is blurred as is gender as are all socially created definitions. Only the Bolt's of this world argue that the blurring is proof of their non existence. Bolt however argues for some undefined idealized monoculture we should all aspire and assimilate to that somehow not a blurr in his mind however he can only describe it in his blurred terms. He simply denies there's any illegitimacy in the distribution of wealth and power when it comes to the social construction of reality.
