Canning: not much better than was expected under Abbott
Bolt makes the figures up to suit himself. The reason the Liberal Party enacted the agreement put in place in February is quite simple. Canning polls showed a 10% swing against the Libs with Abbott in the lead. That swing has now been reduced by 4% to 6% . Canning was always to be a safe Liberal seat. Until Abbott threw it in doubt.

The Liberal Party pollsters got it all wrong Andrew Bolt has more verified knowledge than any of them except he make no effort to produce it. The majority in the Liberal Party beg to differ Mr Bolt. No matter what you can possibly say the majority is happy with the outcome. You Mr Bolt have always been in the position of what seems like pushing shit up a hill with a pointed stick. Times are changing Nick Cohen seems to prefer the days of 130,000 Labor members rather than 550,000. Bolt also preferred the days when a minority of conservatives controlled the Liberal Party. They both prefer the tail to be wagging the dog and don't like times to be changing.
Cohen is complaining " they will always put sectarian unity first, and find reasons to be elsewhere." Isn't that exactly why the current turnaround has taken place in the Liberal Party? Abbott was a divider for the purpose of politics rather than politics played for the purpose of unity.

Morisson, Bishop or anybody else could have put in a third party challenge but nobody did not a single conservative put their hand up. It was time to go!!!
Bolt's spin before the spin will ensure the spin will be there. One can only see the election results and let the interpretations arise from them. What Bolt fails to abide by is what's done in the party should stay in the party but then he's not "in" any longer. It's not in his interest to appear unimportant but now that Turnbull is in power he will be important. That can be said of 2GB and the rest of the swarm of drones in the Murdoch hive. Turnbull is not obliged to any media and as Abbott once said only good press produces good government. He however was lying at the time.
News Corp can try to insure what Rupert Murdoch wants and that's to drive Turnbull to an early election by trying to undermine and whiteant him. Of course they will still align themselves with the Bernardis of the party. They certainly can't revive Abbott before the next election. They can try to revive a conservative putsch though and drive Turnbull to the polls. Why is it that Murdoch and his drones see the Liberal Party as "their" Conservative Party and why are they shoving it down the throats of moderate Liberals? They hate Democracy and it's process which threatens their notion of "born to rule". They are like a disenfranchised branch of the Hells Angels at the moment and tear down the house. They would like to split and form another gang like the Bandidos but can't. So their just all noise and Bolt's just their amplifier.
Bolt is trying to tell us just how accommodating Abbott was as a leader making all these compromises. He was magnanimous without any kicking any screaming everybody's mate a good negotiator and leader who to his principles. In fact he was a shit leader and bad communicator and the back bench let it be known. Mr Bolt, the rose tinted glasses will never work because he was non collegiate iron fisted a central office controller who on last count had broken some 65 promises. The true Tony Abbott showed himself on Monday when he attempted to throw Hockey under the bus with a bribe to Scott Morrison.
Bolt runs the sideshow list of what he regards as Abbott's successes, yes the sideshow list. There is no mention of the economy and the disaster this government has made of it since coming to power. No mention of the growing income and wealth gaps. The persistent attack on Australians hip pockets and our drop in living standards and confidence. Abbott's persistent attack on those who have only their labour to trade, the fast diminishing middle class and those on welfare. These are the productive force of Australia without money in their pockets they don't spend so all business does is try to cut costs. Bolt's favorite catch cry for the road to progress is "cut spending" , profit before people.

There is nothing new here the national educational curriculum laid down & advocated by the Abbott government is one with an emphasis on training less of critical thinking. Emphasis on ensuring that history has a much more singular focus On Western and Christian tradition and less emphasis on the indigenous and migrant aspects of Australia. A nolonger "see it through their eyes approach but a see it through my eyes only" one. There's nothing here that's totally unexpected and that that isn't reflected in the Abbott Captain's call of reconstituting the honour awards of Knights, Dames and one nation. It's definitely a move away for an inclusive curriculum. Good little white boys from Malvern will never know the pleasure they too may have shared knowing of their country's indigenous culture. It's definitely a step back in time but not history,

I love Lloyd Reece because it shows just how well he could see when he couldn't. Reece was almost blind. Does that make him a realist? I stood looking out of the window of Dali's studio in Port Lligat and came to realise the landscapes Dali painted were real despite the melting time piece. He hasn't been as surreal to me since. He was still alive back then and used to come to a bar in Cadaques with his bodyguard and psychiatrist a somewhat fallen hero in Spain but especially Catalonia as he was on TV advocating the Spanish to vote for Franco.
