The President of the United States of America stood on a stage at a Make America Great Again Rally and, on live tv, mocked and ridiculed a woman who was sexually assaulted at age 15. And the crowd in the room cheered, laughed and chanted "lock her up"
LOCK HER UP.
Let that sink in. They are cheering to lock up the victim of a sexual assault.
And for what? For coming forward? For sharing her story?
There is a reason why so few women come forward with their stories of sexual abuse and assault. Even now, in the era of MeToo, women (and men) are terrified. They are scared to not be believed, so be victim shamed, asked if they had too much to drink or if they dressed slutty. They are scared to be accused of lying to get back at a man who scorned them. They are scared to be mocked.
And Donald Trump. What does he do? He mocks a victim from the Presidential podium.

The racial and ethnic makeup of Amsterdam as of 2012 was 49.5% Dutch and 50.5% foreign ancestry. Non-Dutch immigrants in the 16th and 17th century were primarily Sephardi Jews, Huguenots, Flemings and Westphalians. Huguenots came to Amsterdam after the 1685 Edict of Fontainebleau, which rescinded the right of the Huguenots to practice their religion without persecution in France. Flemish Protestants immigrated to the area during the Eighty Years' War. Westphalians immigrated to the area in the 18th and 19th century for better economic conditions.
Amsterdam experienced its first mass immigration in the 20th century as Indonesians moved to the area following the independence of the Dutch East Indies. By the 1960s, guest workers emigrated from Italy, Spain, Morocco and Turkey. In the 1970s, a large number of Surinamese moved to the city after Suriname gained independence. There have also been waves of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers from Asia, Europe, America and Africa.
Individuals of non-Western origin account for 35% of Amsterdam's population and over half of all children in the city. Non-Westerners are concentrated in certain neighborhoods, such as Nieuw-West, Bijlmer, Zeeburg and Amsterdam-Noord.
Amsterdam had a 10% population of Jewish people prior to World War II, but only 20% survived the Holocaust.
Amsterdam has 176 different nationalities, which makes it one of the most diverse cities in the world in terms of nationality. Greater Amsterdam's population density is x10 that of Greater Melbourne and that's without the 9 million tourists that come to stay there. Yet it's Bolt's heaven. What a bullshit artist he is the city is even more diverse than Melbourne and has a Left-wing Green Council.
Cycling into Amsterdam’s red-light district from Dam Square on a summer evening requires advanced maneuvering skills. Throngs of tourists clog the sidewalks. They spill into the road without warning, blocking traffic while they check their phones or take a picture, though it’s not clear what they hope to capture. Walkable, picturesque, and famous for its ample supply of sex and drugs while still feeling relatively safe, Amsterdam is more popular than ever. In 2018, the city expects to host almost 9 million overnight visitors, double the number 10 years ago. And that’s only counting hotel guests; an additional 1.6 million stay on cruise ships or rent through Airbnb or similar services. Together, they bring in billions of dollars but also put a huge strain on the city’s infrastructure, services, and environment.
Though much smaller than Paris, London, or New York, Amsterdam has long been a cosmopolitan city. Some 53 percent of its 845,000 inhabitants are first- or second-generation immigrants. After reaching a low point in the 1980s, its population is now growing at its fastest rate ever. But while the city attracts thousands of newcomers, it drives almost as many away. Soaring housing prices, pushed even higher by housing shortages, real-estate speculators, and Airbnb, are expelling middle-income and working-class families from the city proper.
All of this has pushed Amsterdam to a tipping point. The massive global money streams flowing into the Dutch capital threaten to destroy the fabric of what has long been one of Europe’s most livable cities while, at the same time, a sharp rise in inequality at all levels—income, employment, health, and education—is segregating neighborhoods along ethnic and socioeconomic lines. A new generation of organized criminals has taken to liquidating each other in broad daylight with little concern for bystanders. And schools, hospitals, the police, and the fire department are all understaffed because their employees can no longer afford to live near their work. In July, the city announced that
7,000 kids might not have a teacher for this fall.
In pursuing these plans, Amsterdam’s new leaders have opted to look for guidance outside their country’s own borders. Shortly after they assumed power, Amsterdam joined the Fearless Cities network. Founded two years ago in Barcelona, the network aims to unite cities worldwide into a progressive front to check neoliberalism, stem the rise of radical right-wing movements, feminize politics, and defend human rights.
