Why Are We Still Working?

No seriously, why are we still working? Mike Dowson explains in simple terms the great con that keeps you chained to the wheel. This may be an opportune moment to consider the question. Especially if you’re not actually working. You may have retired. Perhaps you’ve just left university, considering your options. Perhaps you’re taking a welcome break. MaybeMore

Australia bet the house on never-ending Chinese growth. It might not end well

Assumptions about coal and iron ore exports helped build Australian prosperity. But with China’s economy threatening to unravel, a less rosy picture is emerging

Day by day, however, the evidence becomes increasingly clear the probability of a severe economic and financial downturn in China is on the cards. This is not good news at all for Australia. The country is heavily exposed, as China comprises Australia’s top export market, at 33%, more than double the second (Japan at 15%).

Chinese tourists in Sydney. The two countries have prospered through their close economic ties but there could also be a downside.

Corruption isn't only in the realm of unions.

Draconian recommendations from the Trade Union Royal Commission will erode basic democratic rights without affecting corruption and may cost the Coalition [...] DYSON HEYDON'S 79 recommendations from the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance represent a steamroller approach to industrial democracy and basic human rights, such as the right to collectively bargain and the freedom of association.

Corporate-style regulation of unions won’t defeat corruption

Terror groups 'merge, create IS powerhouse'

It's as if this announcement in our media is one telling us Xmas is over and we need to go back to scaring the the public. The fear namely held in the phrase "outside of the Middle East" is so non specific as to be meaningless. This is a reminder of an Abbott style headline worthy of Newscorp but coming from the Fairfax group.
Lindsay Murdoch Four Islamic terror groups come together, video claims, creating new fears outside of the Middle East.

A video reportedly showing an Islamic State training camp in the Philippines.

Terrorism is ok if you are 'a good guy'

Scale of mass NYE sex attack grows

It seems Munchausen's syndrome by proxy has spread to the German right wing. They seem to be spreading the ever increasing the rumour that they were victims of a  sexually deranged group of asylum seekers that Germany has promised to protect. It's now the 11/1/16 and the NYE rumour keeps growing.

Reminder of the days when the KKK accused blacks of sexual molestation of white women and even the thought of molesting a white girl was  sufficient justification for segregation and legalized  violence.

More women come forward to report assaults at train station, where 1000 men had massed.

A flashmob gathered in front of Hauptbahnhof main railway station on Sunday to protest against the New Year's Eve sex attacks in Cologne, Germany.
