  Tony Abbott and another tilt

Tony Abbott Wants To Be Prime Minister Again.Tony Abbott is confident he can have another tilt at the top job, with the convention of requiring 50% support the only potential hurdle. That would spring Bolt back to life with his dog back in the race.

Still on holidays, learning plentys

Bolt's fanciful excuse for not responding to his "independent" blog now is a declaration that his independence isn't what he has always made it out to be. He is a corporate worker for Newscorp and is a puppet on their string and when told to jump he too knows how high.  He openly admits his work has been less than investigative and largely value based and not as informed as  it should have been these past years despite the fact so many critics have told him that.  It's a job, he's a worker and he's been beholden to the values and interests of Newscorp.

When employees are generally asked to catch up  on sick leave, holiday pay and long service leave structural changes are in the wind. For all  Bolt's past declarations of independence and being able to do and express what he does without bias it appears to have been under researched and non investigative and value blinkered. In other words his views have been lazy and merely determined by his value based  conservative framework.  Here he admits to his short comings that the side is more important than the issue. Having said that I doubt his views will have changed.

2015 Was by Far the Hottest Year on Record

Bob Carter

Is this a short Eulogy by Andrew Bolt to Science huckster Dr Bob Carter one of Australia's most often quoted deniers of man made Climate Change who was renowned for applying short term statistics to discount long term conclusions regarding that Change.  No!!! No!!! this a  thank you to Andrew Bolt who thinks of  himself to be the greater man. Andrew Bolt has printed the thank you to Andrew Bolt for giving Bob Carter the media space and presence wherever and whenever he could. When others, particularly respected scientific journals ignored Carter's opinions. It never stopped Bolt  even when it was discovered Carter was taking monthly  payments from the very secretive and non transparent Heartland Foundation funded heavily by the fossil fuel industry who became also became equally non transparent  when the sources of their sponsorship became very apparent. Exxon, KochBros etc etc

"Professor Bob Carter had guts. He followed the evidence and not the crowd. He identified the pause in the warming and was abused for it by many in the media, and only years later did the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concede there had indeed been a hiatus." Bolt

The problem with Bolt is even after flat earthers were proven wrong  and stopped publishing he still turns back the clock and uses IPCC admissions of errors made in the past in order  to defend the his denialist stance  today of the current 2016 consensus on Climate Change. Bolt simply said never moves foward and accepts the notion he may be wrong. He has when all said and done the mind of a Creationist. He believes in the propagandists theory that if repeated often enough a lie will be believed by some when it comes  to crunch time and a vote. He's a Vance Packard man a professional Persuader.

Bob Carter wasn't a Climate Scientist however he was a Paleontologist. What he had in common with Global Climate Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics was that they all are macro-sciences applying scientific method to  macro level theories and yes in the main all science is sceptical and ongoing. That doesn't disallow a majority consensus ant any one time and we clearly know what that consensus is today. Carter may have been respected in his field of Paleontology he wasn't as a Climatologist. After his retirement he maintained an association with some political think tanks that disagreed with the current scientific consensus on Climate Change. Significantly conservative  ones like IPA ,NIPCC and Heartland Foundation and equivalent organizations. He died on January 19, 2016 after a heart attack at the age of 74.

In April 2006, Carter argued against climate change being "man-made" by asserting that the global average temperature did not increase during the eight years since 1998. Bolt continues today calling the hiatus 18 years and ignoring current findings to the contrary. Bob Carter was not only a denialist but a paid one.

In 2012, documents acquired from The Heartland Institute revealed that Carter was paid a monthly fee of $1,667 (USD) "as part of a program to pay 'high-profile individuals who regularly and publicly countered the alarmist [anthropogenic global warming] message'."While Carter did not deny that the payments took place, he declined to discuss the payments.Carter has emphatically denied that his scientific opinion on climate change can be bought.[32]

The Heartland Institute no longer discloses its funding sources, stating that it had ended its practice of donor transparency after experiencing the organized harassment of its donors. [118] According to its brochures, Heartland receives money from approximately 5,000 individuals and organizations, and no single corporate entity donates more than 5% of the operating budget,[119] although the figure for individual donors can be much higher, with a single anonymous donor providing $4.6 million in 2008, and $979,000 in 2011, accounting for 20% of Heartland's overall budget, according to reports of a leaked fundraising plan.[120] Heartland states that it does not accept government funds and does not conduct contract research for special-interest groups.[121]

Trump and IS: two sides, same (ignorant) coin

It's called Crisis Politics. Create the Crisis first withe the aid of Newscorp and Fox News

Elizabeth Farrelly 2:22 AM   Donald Trump and IS: the populist property buffoon and the jihadist militants. Are they really bitter foes, as the posturing suggests? Or are they weirdly co-dependent? Are they, in truth, allies?

A revolt among U.S. House Republicans delayed action on the Iran nuclear deal today as some members insisted they aren't bound by a Sept. 17 deadline in their efforts to kill the agreement.
