In the 80s and 90s Secular Arab States were regarded as far more dangerous than the anarchic sectarian ones that are fighting each other today. When intelligence, analysis and the Chilcot report now show what a gung ho disgrace it was to invade Iraq and the inevitable push back that has resulted there is absolutely no disgrace saying John Howard's Australia must accept some consequence for the Bali bombing.
What is absurd today is Bolt demanding we break diplomatic ties with the UAE and close their embassies here when Tony Abbott has deployed our troops and air force there. How smart is Bolt? Is he demanding our troops dig in, be sent home or evacuate and be based in Israel? Bolt shoots from the hip and does so often. Given strategic advice who would we choose Andrew Wilkie professional ADF intelligence officer or Andrew Bolt Australia's public war monger?
