2-3k dead in a world of 7.5 billion. There are bigger diseases than that and little attention paid. In fact, Trump brags about the amount of military hardware he's selling. The number of drones he's used but he hides the numbers dead as a result. Coronavirus isn't spreading as fast as  America's never-ending wars. It isn't as deadly as the most incarcerated peoples with the least life expectancy as can be found in Australia and that outcome largely ignored even when reported.
