 Australian Border Force Commissioner Michael Outram says Victoria was aware that Kiwi travellers could fly to Melbourne.

Australian Border Force commissioner Michael Outram has countered a key Victorian government claim about travellers from NZ in an escalating dispute over who is responsible for the international arrivals.

Mr Outram told a Senate estimates hearing in Canberra the meeting at Melbourne Airport last Friday at 2pm discussed the issue of passengers from New Zealand and heard no objections from Victorian officials.

"I am unaware of any objections being raised through any of those discussions or meetings that occurred," Mr Outram told the hearing.
