The Murdoch propaganda machine needs to be stopped

News Corp's political influence and power over the media is in need of regulation for maintaining journalistic integrity and democracy.

Democracy needs to regulate the private market and the corporate players in it.

In the battle between Murdoch against Facebook the LNP are right but for the wrong reasons. Right because the primary principle that Democracy should regulate the "free market" is correct. Private corporations shouldn't be allowed to run rampant in a social system designed for the people and run by them. It's why we vote who works for us and supposedly for the benefit of us all. That is the founding principle of Democracy.

However what the LNP is doing might be right in regulating Facbook they are doing it for all the wrong reasons. Their reason is the belief that the cabal of the LNP, Murdoch and the IPA serves them far better politically than the LNP and Facebook would at an election. It definitely serves Murdoch financially and the IPA giving private corporations greater skin in the game. However does nothing for the supply of News and Information as an industry that serves the nation and improves Democracy.

The ABC and SBS budgets will continue to be slashed the ambition to privatize their best parts by Murdoch won't fade. Their their output increasingly LNP controlled rather than questioned is in the interest of the triumvariate cabal but not the people. Any skepticism will be left to the smaller independent players who don't stand to gain financially from the current arrangements made and whose messages will continue to be delivered by algorithm to their already converted readers rather than those that make the difference in an election. One could argue it's an indirect form of conservative voter manipulation favoring the LNP propaganda machine that's been in place since Whitlam and the 70's..

COVID is boosting right-wing extremism: Police

Conservatives are the new "good Germans," enabling and defending Trump's crimes

Conservatives are the new "good Germans," enabling and defending Trump's crimes

Chauncey DeVega

The most benign and generous understanding of "conservative," in the traditional context of American politics, is drawn (however loosely) from the 18th-century Anglo-Irish philosopher and statesman Edmund Burke. It signifies an aversion to change, or perhaps even a belief that change, when necessary, should be gradual. "Conservative," at least in that conventional context, denotes a respect for stability, tradition and existing societal norms and institutions.

Donald Trump, his movement and its allies have almost no relationship to that tradition, and overwhelmingly reject such values. In the Age of Trump, American democracy is under assault by neofascism, white supremacy, authoritarianism, gangster capitalism and other antisocial values and beliefs.

Trump and his Republican Party and their followers have no respect for the rule of law, and have consistently sought to undermine it.

Guess who Murdoch's News Corp still supports. What Murdoch opinionators say they are but recommend should be done.

Contrary to widely-held folk theories of democracy, which presume a shared commitment to consensus politics, Trump and his movement have now normalized right-wing terrorism and political violence directed against liberals, progressives, nonwhites, Jews, Muslims and others deemed to be "the enemy."

Public opinion polls and other research show that Republican and Trump voters embrace such values and beliefs, and now believe that political violence (on the order of the Jan. 6 Capitol attack) may be necessary as a way of protecting their power and privilege in American society.

The version of conservatism that Trump and his voters and followers have embraced is "conservative" politics as destruction. Its goal is to return the United States to a mythic (and largely imaginary) past of complete white — and male and "Christian" — dominance over every area of American life.

Such a plan is made possible through a radical, extremist right-wing politics in which "conservatism" and an appeal to "traditional values" are used to mask or camouflage an assault on multiracial democracy and a more cosmopolitan, inclusive, democratic and humane American society.

This is exactly what Tony Abbott, The Right of the LNP, One Nation the IPA and News Corp have brought to the table and want normalized in Australia

Today's Republicans love Donald Trump and his policies. Most of them, however, do not want the shame, stink, blood and filth of his neofascist project on their hands. Like the "good Germans" of the Nazi era, Republicans want to believe that they are good and decent people who can hide behind fictions of plausible deniability for the evils committed by their leader. Calling themselves "conservatives" is an effort to shield themselves from responsibility and complicity. Will this subterfuge succeed? The American people and the world will find out soon.

We need to break from the easy of politics of the LNP that's allowing us to become simply Americanized. It's what Morrison has been doing and not standing up to be counted as a REAL Democracy and not the FAKE shadow of America's.

FAKE NEWS EXPOSED

LOUISE MILLIGAN ACCUSES AGAIN. BUT LET’S WAIT TO JUDGE

ABC journalist Louise Milligan - and Labor - should have learned that rape allegations are just that: allegations. But now another Minister could have their name and career ruined before the proof is in that he's a rapist. Let me remind you of a truly shocking case that involves Milligan, a politician and another accuser battling mental issues.

Andrew Bolt isn't a journalist, he himself has admitted he hated the rigour and standards required to be one. He has remained schtum about  others in the profession that have  reported on a number of cases at the moment. Louise Milligan isn't the only journalist to have reported on unnamed men an MP and the staffer involved and accused by Brittany Higgin's and  other women. Why would that be?

Not a word about the misogynist culture within which we live and it's systemic nature reflected in our social institutions. No, Bolt deflects and distracts us suggesting we should generalize from a single case in which a woman is not here to defend her allegation. It's what Bolt does best tips social science and statistical probabilities about climate Covid on their heads. The real victims are men like him whose reputations are of far more value. So not just men but men of high status and repute as being the most vulnerable to unbalanced and lower status younger women. Is it because Louise Milligan is a woman that Bolt sets her up for his bullshit attack or because she works for the ABC? Would he be so ready to disbelieve his daughter accuse her of being mental, a frightbat or misandrist?

Louise Milligan hasn't been alone reporting the allegations. Bolt didn't make any noise saying "rape" or any other allegations of "crimes" need to be hidden from our purview of news until after they'd been investigated. That's the LNP claim lets all shut up until things have been thoroughly investigated and forgotten. Bolt didn't do that when "defending" Pell did he? In fact Bolt has a history of raising unfounded allegations about all sorts of people himself ignoring statistical data and probabiliies. A Muslim alleged to have done something wrong Bolt points out it's the very nature of their religion. Not so however, Christians. They tend to be the exceptions from which generalizations can't be made even if history suggests otherwise. Africans were all guilty after a single report. In fact, Bolt's been threatened with legal action and has had walk back on statements he's made in the past. The same can't be said of Milligan.

Milligan makes no judgement doesn't name or shame the MP but Bolt has targeted her in order to do just that. It's not that she works for the ABC either but that's a bonus as far as Bolt is concerned. Bolt has a personal history of attacking Milligan. A  past because of her book The Rise and Fall of George Pell. Milligan wasn't sued Pell wasn't declared innocent. It was found there simply was insufficient evidence on appeal. Nevertheless Bolt has been running what seems a one man vendetta on her. Strange he hasn't mention that background here. Maybe Bolt should write a book one day his first instead of the collections of crap he's had published under the guise of books. At least he can admit to having written fiction he's certainly been convicted of it. Does Bolt suffer from"mental issues" some might believe he does. We certainly learn more about about him than Milligan.
