PR,payola people like to crow they write most of what's in our newspapers. Problem is, they’re right, but now it’s think tanks like the IPA too.
Guardian Australia’s analysis today by Katharine Murphy: “Rising US isolationism means Australia must become more resilient and autonomous, think-tank warns” was based on a research paper by the University of Sydney’s United States Studies Centre (USSC).
The story by did not reveal that while also being funded by the United States Department of State and the Australian government, the think tank also receives funding from weapon makers Northrop Grumman Australia and Thales.

The first step in fixing the hidden wealth system is ownership transparency—requiring disclosure of beneficial ownership in real estate, trusts, and companies and corporations. Cities like Los Angeles are exploring municipal-level disclosure of real estate ownership so they can know who is buying the neighborhood. But we should sign a spotlight on the enabling wealth defense industry. Days after the release of the Pandora Papers, U.S. lawmakers introduced the ENABLERS Act, to require such attorneys, wealth managers, real estate professionals and art dealers to report suspicious activity. The attention on Russian oligarchs has revived interest in this legislation. If the U.S. wants to clamp down on Russian oligarchs, the first step is to get our own house in order.

Liberal MP Catherine Cusack has announced she intends to resign from the New South Wales parliament over the selective distribution of disaster funding in flood-affected northern NSW.The ABC has reported that Cusack is “outraged” by how funds have been allocated to flood victims in the Northern Rivers, specifically that areas in the Nationals-held seat of Page were given more assistance than areas in the Labor-held seat of Richmond. It means Ballina, Bryon and Tweed shires – in the Labor-held Richmond seat – have missed out on the federal government’s additional disaster relief payments.
