Ratings are the only thing that count to current crop journalists, not journalism, and it's all been brought to us by Murdoch Media wrapped up in his sensationalist cash for comment American style business model. News and information are no longer necessary celebrity is. Andrew Bolt hated journalism and it's necessity for work, analyzing facts and their verification. He much preferred the creativity afforded the obit columnists, and publcisists. He found that slot in Foxtel's Sky News After Dark and chased the job from the get go when Roger Ailes came to town to set up Fox News down-under. Real journalists weren't interested. After all Bolt had already incorporated his skill for no news in his weekly column in the Herald-Sun. However he wasn't a celebrity.

Judge Mordecai Bromberg hit the nail on the head defining Bolt as the model of a lazy journalist vengeful and careless with his facts finding him guilty under the Racial Discrimination Act. His ex fiance had threatened to sue him for his Walter Mitty fantasy when publicly describing their relationship as him working as  a"belly dancer's minder". Bolt was a celebrity when Tony Abbott Murdoch's man was Bolt's mate and he had the inside stories. Abbott was almost the fore runner to Donald Trump. It was as if Australia was Murdoch's laboratory for a new style of business model which turned journalists into ratings chasers and lawyers ambulance chasers. It may have worked in the USA but failed to gain traction here largely because of the lackluster personnel chosen for the job. Kenny Murray and Bolt simply didn't rate Credlin Jones and Hinch weren't TV stars and Rowan Dean and Panahi also rans. Australia was simply not America and it had the ABC and SBS which needed to be nuetered for Murdoch to progress and Americanize us.

Tips and Murmurs: All quiet on the Rupe/Jerry front ...

A Brisbane nurse completing her tax return has calculated that she contributed $13,000 in annual tax payments this year, approximately $13,000 more than the average multi-national mining company operating in Australia.

Australia’s solutions over the last nine years leads one to doubt not just the humanity but the sanity of those who implemented the Morrison solutions. The United Kingdom under the apparently intellectually challenged and spoilt man-child Boris Johnson is merrily heading down the path that Australia created.

The same self-serving populist speak and a rather bizarre solution, sending refugees and asylum seekers to Rwanda. What would we find if we followed the money trails, both in Australia and the United Kingdom? There are still many questions left unanswered and the mainstream media is complicit by giving race baiting and populist propaganda oxygen.

While Australia was chasing the UK after Brexit it's still only in negotiations with the EU on an FTA which has been jepardized by Morrison's and the LNP's climate emissions policies and targets.

The European Union and New Zealand say they have concluded a free trade deal after four years of negotiations.

According to the EU, trade with New Zealand is expected to increase by 30 per cent as a result of the deal, with removing tariffs alone saving businesses 140 million euro ($A211 million) in duties per year.

The 27-member bloc said on Thursday that EU investment flows into New Zealand could increase by more than 80 per cent.

Bilateral trade in goods between the two partners has risen steadily in recent years, reaching almost 7.8 billion euro in 2021.

The EU is New Zealand’s third-biggest trade partner.
