Because he's chasing the same market Murdoch has chased and captured here and it's not just readers but the corporate advertisers paying for "influence". 

A totally independent broadcaster like the ABC, once was, needs a central role for Australian Democracy to work. Without it we start looking American and Murdoch certainly wants that.

 Australia’s diverse news media do not answer to a single regulator. There’s a model we could follow that would boost faith in journalism.

To build trust in the news, we need a trustworthy watchdog
