Colonisation was ‘luckiest thing’ for Australia, John Howard says ( The Guardian)

Former prime minister, John Howard, is making international headlines for his interview which was published yesterday in the Australian.

The New York Times and the BBC have both picked up on Howard’s words that colonisation by the British was the “luckiest thing” to happen to Australia.

The former leader’s words came as he was comparing it to being colonised by other countries. Howard told Janet Albrechtsen:

I’m totally ­opposed to (reparations). You have to understand that in the 17th, 18th century, colonisation of the land mass of Australia was next to inevitable.

And I do hold the view that the luckiest thing that happened to this country was being colonised by the British. Not that they were perfect by any means, but they were infinitely more successful and beneficent colonisers than other European countries.

 

The history of British Colonisation says otherwise.They destroyed the Indian economy which was the worlds biggest before their arrival. They left African nations a mess of warring tribal division where there was previously harmony. The Germans on the other hand left Tanzania and the French left Senegal in Democratic Harmony compared with the British. One only need look back at what occurred in Rawanda and what is happening in Sudan today to see Britian's Inglorious slave trading and drug dealing past.

 Lets not forget the American Revolution that ousted the British in favor of the formation of a Democratic Republic great American experiment in Democracy rather than a colony raped by Britain it's Monarchy and the British East India Company that had left India in tatters.

The new superseding indictment filed Thursday by special counsel Jack Smith in Florida says that on June 27, 2022, a maintenance worker at Mar-a-Lago, Carlos De Oliveira, told another employee, who is not named: “The boss” wanted a server containing the footage deleted. The alleged exchange came a few days after Trump’s lawyers received a grand jury subpoena seeking the footage.
