Muslims denying a terror problem exists need to acknowledge it

1. A Muslim with a knife and gas bottles with Shire Ali’s security profile probably does a terrorist make, just as the white supremacists who have acted out their hateful ideology in various countries shooting up mosques, synagogues, multicultural gatherings and black churches are unambiguously terrorists.
2. “Terror” is not just a word but a reality. Not just a tool dictators use to intimidate their own people, but a weapon of intimidation religious zealots use against free societies.

There is no more clarity in Julie Szego argument than any other that justifies singling out lone wolf attackers as unambiguously terrorist even if carried out by those born to Islam. Why is the descriptive Muslim attached when the same isn't done to Christians or other religions. The issue of mental health whether a common thread or not is pushed into the background in these cases, why? Because there is less of a want for understanding that there is a battle for the ownership and control of the narrative. In a multicultural nation that seems far simpler and more realistic explanation as to what's going on.
For instance, Szego doesn't call white supremacists Christian terrorists why? Radical Islam is called an ideology but there seems to be no extreme equivalent radical Christian ideology only white supremacist who strangely enough seem to use a lot of Christian symbols. There are radical anti-Semites who hate Jews but they aren't called Christians and there's the nub. Christians seem to wear an invisible cloak where Muslims don't.
Were the IRA politics branded  Catholic only and the British Protestant in the same way? What we seem to be seeing is a narrative battle to claim victimhood when the issue of individual motivation is far more complex particularly in a Multicultural environment where antipathy and fear of a minority have been promoted so widely.
Terror is not just a word but reality true but in the case of 5 events defined as terrorist over the past 5 years and 3 very questionable when mental illness is considered. The reality of terror is as much the responsibility of those describing it. Tony Abbott's use of it for political advantage escalated in 2013 assisted by Murdoch Media and is clear. In 2017 alone Newscorp published some 2,850 Islamophobic articles and that is a reality add to that 2GB and Sky News commentaries and the real meaning of terror comes into relief. Prior to Abbott anti-Islamic sentiment was confused and ran at some 9% today the political battle for the power of the narrative by largely conservatives has seeped into the community to negative sentiment of 33% and by those claiming they are the victims as well. However largely ignorant of some 54 ++ cultures here some of whom practice the Islamic faith.
No Szego doesn't shine any light on the reality of terror Anne Aly MP whose office was vandalized but never described Christian. The rise in abuse and physical harm experienced by Muslim women in public by bigots is sometimes acknowledged yes, but never as Christian because "fucking raghead" isn't a Christian identifier.
So yes even in democratic and what Szego calls 'free' nations the tools and methods of fascism are put into effect look at Trumpland today arming itself and seeking asylum against an invasion of terrorists mostly disguised as women and children. They too need to self reflect on their true identities. The reality is that's the story Murdoch media and the White House put out across the country everyday time and time again prior to the Midterm elections and has now gone silent.

Since March 2017, the Wayward Taskforce has investigated 78 home invasions, five carjackings, 74 armed robberies and 84 robberies. It has made 285 arrests, while a parallel disruption and suppression patrol operation has made 711 arrests and detected more than 3400 offences.

Wayward is managing 79 at-risk persons of interest (POIs), 31 of whom are in custody on remand or serving sentences. Twenty-four ‘‘extreme risk’’ offenders have been downgraded to high or low-risk after they have engaged with police, reconnected to school or a job and have not been detected committing a crime for at least six months.
Wayward found 40 per cent of their high-risk offenders broke bail conditions. That has now dropped to five per cent.
