The notion of free speech is a bit of a joke given the Abbott has declared tightening the National Security Laws . The very nature of tightening laws will reduce freedoms. Freedom of speech is limited in proportion to the privatization of the technology available to deliver it. So to be really free speech there must be equal opportunity of delivery and that simply doesn't exist.
The closest media organization able to provide any semblance of free speech is the ABC and or community media. However their freedoms are restricted by politics.
Today on Channel 10's Bolt Report the audience were fed the idea that the Imam's of Australia weren't countering radical Islamists strongly enough. We the audience are meant to take this as truth. However it's a lie, a lie told us by our PM and supported his Murdoch media man Andrew Bolt. The truth not told is the Islamic Council of Australia does make pronouncements as do countless Australian Muslims in responsible positions. However our media organizations of distribution choose not to give them the voice which would show what liars Abbott and Bolt in fact are.
Given freedom of speech is a myth and not available to everyone and the notion of a level playing field is also. Protections do need to be in place to protect us from the total dominance of corporate organizations currently held in check. They employ banks of lawyers not just to protect them from crossing the line but also to advise what they can get away with. Section 18C is not there to stop John Doe or Rupert Murdoch but it's there to keep organizations like News Corp and it's agents in check. The conservative right want these corporate dogs unleashed.
History is continuing to be written as we speak and Bolt does not want the present addressed and neither does Abbott. The present acknowledges the boats have been stopped. But it fails to present an explanation of why 190 kids are still in detention. Why those in detention still need to be kept under sub standard, no sub human conditions? If the game has been brought to end and won why does the brutality still continue? The light is being shone on the present yes. You simply can't carry on with the narrative "it was worse before" but continue to abuse human rights. We live in the present and whats happening now needs to be addressed. Abbott's politics finds that too difficult it seems. Bolt finds that too difficult as well . Better to attack those asking the questions about the present because Tony looks good in history. He will be there soon. Stuff the kids suffering now.
It's amazing Bolt and Abbott are happy to talk about the people that drowned the people that no longer drown and the people that won't drown but if you dare say anything about the ones drowning now your an ungrateful Lefty bastard.
How is it Bolt is psychologically driven to highlight shootings that provide him with some benefit. Be it some sick pleasure where he tries to show us the defense of a principle he says he holds without serious conviction. Like the removal of section 18C . Or merely shootings that highlight his Islamaphobia. In either case he gets a perverted pleasure from both Schadenfreude.
His feigned dogged principle of ridding us of Section 18C only came about because he was busted twice for breaching that law. Not out of any outrage. If he was serious he'd be actively breaching Section 18C at every opportunity and he isn't. He in fact has Murdoch lawyers his minders ensure he doesn't in doing so giving it due respect. His feigned anger really appears to be little more than a want to let Murdoch media print whatever they want with less responsibility. They control the technology that disperses information but want to own it without any responsibility. The application of any enforced social contract restricts their drive for profit through perversion.
Bolt scours the world media for examples of anything that could be suggested crimes by Muslims in order to promote Islamaphobia. He overlooks anything that might suggest hate crimes against Muslims. Arson of a Mosque in Texas and the brutal murder of 3 Muslim students in Chapel Hill Nth Carolina are of no use to Bolt. These incidents fail to have practical purpose for our bigot Bolt whose tag line is "no fear no favour" . He is the total opposite in reality.

Jobs and employment directly relate to people . Economy is an abstract description as is the environment. In conversation if I say I have a job it makes sense. To say I have an economy or environment make little sense as a personal statement. So where is this double standard and whose the goat?
Abbott has no history of loyalty why? Once a Quizzling your defenders can't try to point to all the occasions you were staunch. You are a traitor you are disloyal it only takes one time. Anything after that it's only defense and excuse. How many times can you be a traitor?
Yes Abbott has a history of throwing people under buses. To paint him in any other terms is excuse. It's why he polls so low. He has never won an election the proverbial drovers dog could have won the last one. He never will win an election lack of character. " he's misunderstood "just doesn't cut it.
