blog is financed by the Exxon- and Chevron-funded Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT); and Inhofe has received nearly $1.8 million
from the oil and gas industry over the course of his congressional
career, more than twice as much as he's taken from any other industry.
The Heartland Institute frequently makes claims about the causes and impacts of climate change that directly contradict
the nearly unanimous findings of climate scientists. Heartland made
it's climate science denial perfectly clear when it organized a
publicity stunt to disrupt the Vatican's April climate change summit, stating
that the purpose of the effort was "to inform Pope Francis of the truth
about climate science: There is no global warming crisis!"
Morano, who was recently featured in a documentary about climate science deniers titled Merchants of Doubt, has long denied that human activities are responsible for climate change. He's described climate science as "primitive" and "crumbling," and climate change models as "akin to medieval witchcraft."
Inhofe is the author of a book titled, "The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future." In February, he brought a snowball onto the Senate floor to dispute the scientific finding that 2014 was the hottest year on record.
We don't hold the media to account for the stupidity of one of it's own Andrew Bolt. Of greater concern than death to Bolt is $2000 and "some dodgy slush fund". The life and death of asylum seekers and Indigenous Australians is of no concern really. The whole of this country's current Foreign Aid program has been turned into a dodgy slush fund by Abbott because he can't stop spending but needs also to hide the fact that he's made some cruel humanitarian cuts. Aid is now to be redefined as the deployment troops so as to appear more generous than we are.
Remember when the current MP's used their expense accounts as they saw fit as their very own private slush funds when none but Peter Slipper needed to be investigated by the AFP. Bolt berated Paul Kelly's lack of insight when it come to himself and the constitution. Further when the executive wish to remove from law decisions such as citizenship rights or rights of any kind and place them in the arbitrary hands of a minister it's taking away from the spirit of Magna Carta and it's emphasis on the separation of parliament and the judiciary. Triggs reminded Bishop she did head a statutory body independent of the government and was there to ask the hard questions of government for not only the people but the global community. If she was not doing that the UNHCR would be little more than a tool of government and not doing it's job. It was there to examine the government on it's performance of human rights and not just there to laud it. The very esscence of democracy.
