Lomborg compares is two cars built with the same power source produced by fossil fuels in this case coal powered energy. Of course they will result in equivalent CO2 outputs. But isn't it what the argument is all about changing the power source? The world agrees and coal produced energy is fading. Electric cars to operate won't rely on coal but renewables while fuel operated cars will always rely on fossil fuels. There is a dynamic operating here that Lomborg ignores and that's is a real transition is underway that the reliance on coal and fossil fuels is falling away and rapidly this premise ignored. Of greater concern than death to Bolt is $2000 and "some dodgy slush fund". The life and death of asylum seekers and Indigenous Australians is of no concern really. The whole of this country's current Foreign Aid program has been turned into a dodgy slush fund by Abbott because he can't stop spending but needs also to hide the fact that he's made some cruel humanitarian cuts. Triggs reminded Bishop she did head a statutory body independent of the government and was there to ask the hard questions of government for not only the people but the global community. If she was not doing that the UNHCR would be little more than a tool of government and not doing it's job.
