BOYCOTT WESTPAC LIKE IT BOYCOTTS COAL

My editorial from The Bolt Report: Westpac should be boycotted liked it's boycotting new coal mines and the thousands of Australian jobs they'd bring. It is weak for caving in to green extremists.

 Boycott Bolt and bring sanity back to media. Proof that he's vulnerable to a  boycott of News Corp advertisers was Fox News where  even the top dogs get the sack Ailes and O'Reilly have been shown the door despite the fact Rupert wanted them to stay. The profit margin and bottom line says all and the loss of advertisers would have Andrew Bolt go the same way. 
Westpac will stay why because it has  the moral majority on side but it has also invested in the most economic and positive position. It's the most rational no matter the ideology. Clean energy employs more people than the whole fossil fuel industries  coal, oil and gas put together and it is growing at a faster rate. No private sector investors are investing in the Adani mine.  Bolt seems to think it is a sure  to make investors a profit but he certainly doesn't invest in it . If actuarial data, science economics and rational analysis haven't a positive outlook on coal so why should Westpac?  So Boycott Bolt's and News Corp's major advertisers and yes a change is possible even in a business that's content to hemorrhaging money. Their financial backers aren't.

 

HANSON: CUT FUNDING FOR THE ABC

Pauline Hanson calls for the ABC's funding to be cut. Unfortunately, she's not backing One Nation Senator Brian Burston's threat to block other savings unless the ABC is cut, too.

  News Corp's priority in the USA , UK and Australia is to get greater control of MSM. Their means is not commercial competition but political skullduggery and interference wherever their is opportunity. If you can control the political decisions you can gain control of the commercial space. News Corp supports the right wing parties, the major business associations who as political donors  influence particular politicians and parties who  scratch News Corp's back. In Australia that's demanding the cuts for the ABC and Turnbull is not their man as he and Rupert have a history dating back to the days when Rupert and the Packers were at war. Turnbull wasn't on Murdoch's side. Andrew Bolt is the window through which  News Corp's tactics are self evident  when he  cheers and supports the hardest opts for the politician with the hardest anti ABC line. Murdoch wants the media news space occupied by the national broadcaster for his global control of English speaking news. The BBC and the ABC interfere with that politically powerful ambition.

PAULINE SAYS NO TO CORY

I loved the face Pauline Hanson pulled when I asked her if she'd want Cory Bernardi to join her One Nation party. The answer, eventually, was no. He'd want to run it.

 

It seems Bolt had Pauline Hanson on his show just to stitch her up for Tony by using her as a woman for his own entertainment and amusement. What will eventually occur and it's beginning to happen because time is running out is seeing  Tony Abbott trying to steal  the Hanson policies. He  did it 20 years ago and Abbott's an old dog with no new tricks so he will try to do it again as the year rolls on.  Abbott hasn't given up his effort to take over the Liberal Party once again and News Corp hasn't stopped backing him. Because this time he will have promised Murdoch the ABC on a platter.

Bolt even disguises the fact that it's News Corp not Fairfax that is the biggest complainant here. The fact is in the history of media in this country the ABC was the only national communicator providing services that News Corp will never do or even wants to do.

Bolt goes as far as to demand a change in Australian core democratic values that all public servants be required to declare their voting intentions before being offered a job in any public institution and no doubt their spiritual position too. Some how he denies the principle of the privacy of ones vote Isn't that the core of Fascism as Mussolini presented it. The marriage of the state and conservative powers? It's the direct opposite of what Bolt claims to represent the "freedom of individuals to chose" except in matters of control.

The technological revolution has changed the way media is delivered not politics it remains a fact that News Corp only wants to dismantle those aspects of the ABC that will increase not just their economic influence but their political influence and that being news and information and transform it to commentary and opinion the model of Fox News USA. It's why 85% of Australians trust the ABC and some 40% trust the integrity of News Corp . It's those figures Bolt keeps buried. In the face of Andrew Bolt's print The Bolt Report pretends to be balanced however true balance and debate looks radical when it's compared with Sky or 2GB.

Example the attack this week on Yamine Abdel -Mageid  was Bolts attack on the ABC dictating the ABC was anti- Anzacs. Yet it was the ABC that devoted some 6 hours if not more of programing to the Anzac day ceremonies. Bolt fails to mention that fact and what did News Corp  offer? A haranguing and Xenophobic barrage  of abuse against those not in support of his and Abbott's  abstract Team Australia. The picture of a divided country.

BILLIONS LOST ON DEBT-DODGING STUDENTS

One more reason not to trust the Budget's claims of  surplus in 2021: "The government [faces a disaster with an] expanding student loan book (which is held off-budget) and the increasing proportion of bad debts (loans that will never be repaid, at least in full). By 2018, the student loan book will reach $70bn, with perhaps $19bn unrecoverable."

Debt is is today's manufactured product the essence of Capitalism but jobs are running out and unemployment and underemployment is increasing. There was  a time if you were sold a faulty product you could return it and get your money back now "we will repair it". In fact we still have the ACCC. Peter Foster was jailed for selling false products and Pyramid schemes made illegal . However not so todays education system that sells the false carrot of a job at the end with it's pot of gold. Sold  by telling you that without an education your opportunities are limited. Well Andrew Bolt certainly would have been a debt dodging student if he made to pay what it cost not to have him educated in Adelaide. Today he professes to have been educated at Adelaide University without the (failed) in brackets after it. It seems you can go to Adelaide Uni read a book for a day and say you were taught there.  Bolt did that and we paid. His jobs and career were in no way reliant on his education but more so on who he knew.
The government disaster was the closing down of trade schools and apprenticeships the creation of semi- privatized education and debt. Semi privatizing tertiary education is a compromise when they really want to fully privatize it and create debt factories which is the American model that's currently collapsing.  They are now selling  false product which can't be returned. Bolt even wants to give away critical thinking and replace it with compulsory ideological training. Who you know rather than what you know has always been the foundation of capitalism what school you went to and who you married and it is more so today. You can get a double degree in Law/ Arts but you need to know someone to become articled to before you can become admitted to the bar. Why is it there is an abundance of Asians and Muslims with degrees but working in areas they haven't been trained for cab drivers hospital cleaners they can't get their money back?
How is it we are one of the most expensive degree factories in the world. Slovenia, Norway, Cuba and other countries know what it means to  invest in their youth where even today education is free in English and even for foreign students. So much so that foreign students from the US and I'm sure even Australia are going there today to study the sciences.
When globalization truley arrives will our professional associations  be able to protect the financial interests of their members by locking out. People with degrees from other universities like famous heart surgeons who can't practice here unless they re sit exams intended to lock them out? The war is over and associations cant' protect themselves from fraudulent papers and identity theft.
Bolt as usual doesn't focus on the systemic fault of the education system itself  but he focuses on only a part  debt avoidance among the weakest and then blaming them for failing the system. Basically he  is saying they are  staying poor hiding income and scamming the system.
Banks do the same  they are in the business of debt they are happy to give dogs and cats credit at 20% knowing they are an accounted for loss in the interest rate charged. We all know if the banks can't manage debt the socialist solution is call on the government  to bail them out.  Thus saving the asses of the richest and biggest debtors in the community. Those who are the poorest pay by losing not just some savings but their jobs homes marriages  and families and a blamed for their condition because they never saved in the first place. 40% of the American population live below the poverty line because of the GFC and Wall st is booming.
Remember when conservatives hailed the nuclear family as the best financial social unit to bring about success. Well Bolt will soon be arguing the extended family is the best and then the extended community of the homeless because of the un-affordability of housing and under employment of the population. Who Bolt from his priviliged position calls scammers. A house with grandparents, parents, and 4 kids will be welcome to apply for $200k -$300k debt to get and education and a job not in the field trained for but in hospitality that pays $30,000K and Bolt calls them scammers. His sons first job the IPA yes it's who you know not what you know that's the education  Bolt married it as his career path Sally didn't marry Andrew for his connections.

GOOD DEBT IS $5 BILLION FOR A RISKY AIRPORT

What the Turnbull Government calls "good debt": "Sydney Airport’s decision to decline an offer to run a second airport at Badgerys Creek clears the way for the government to build the $5 billion dollar project. Sydney Airport said ... “the risks associated with the development and operation of WSA are considerable and endure for many decades". 

  No Sydney airport know it's in a better position to let others do the heavy lifting while it can raise it's costs in the short term should the option arise down the line in the long term it might be considered. The decision is not based on need but greed. The $5 bill spent on ansecond Airport for Sydney one of the worlds busiest air ports is not for a shrinking violet like coal so yes it's a reasonable move.
