Rupert Murdoch is the ‘great rent seeker’, John Menadue says – labelling the media company a ‘rogue organisation’
“In recent decades his organisation has become a disgrace,” Menadue, 82, said. “It’s trampled on democracy in three continents, it’s damaged the media enormously in three countries.
“He is recently, of course, a supporter of Trump, a supporter of Theresa May, a supporter of Brexit; he supported the Iraq invasion and still justifies it; he’s a climate sceptic; his organisation has been accused and convicted of phone hacking; there is serial sexism at Fox News in the US,” he said.
“He is now seeking in the UK amendments to complete his $20bn takeover of Sky TV,” he said. “It’s interesting to me that his papers in Australia and elsewhere are always attacking what they call welfare bludgers and single mothers yet he uses governments more than anyone else I’ve ever known.”
Menadue said News Corp publications liked to “rip apart” activists and organisations who might be critical of them, including GetUp, the Australian Press Council and the ABC. “They are not content to dominate mainstream media; they also want to silence organisations that might be critical of them.”

At far right conferences in the United States, if journalists are allowed in, they are frequently restricted from photographing or otherwise identifying participants. Many radical right and fascist organisers habitually take pains to deny their real views and even their identities. They find ways to hide in plain sight, using alibis like “irony” to obscure the propagation of their ideas and symbols.The far right craft deliberate strategies to infiltrate seemingly less radical events, and “mainstream” conservatives – wittingly or not – frequently provide them with cover.

 

BOTH  SIDES RIGHT, SO LIBERALS DESTROYED

 Malcolm Turnbull’s government is being destroyed by Tony Abbott because both sides are right and won’t give in. Yes, this is a war between two men who hate each other’s guts. But it’s much more than that, which explains why the Prime Minister looks gone, yet Abbott is still miles from replacing him.    

  Does anyone consider when Bolt put's up video's of Conservatives booing Turnbull and cheering Abbott one thing is significant. The onl face revealed is Abbott's and Turnbull's never the supporters of the far right which Bolt calls Liberals. If you were so proud of your  position why so hidden? Why do these right wing activists hide behind the curtain. At any of their meetings the media is vetted very heavily and the camera is never pointed in their direction. People like Bolt do their speaking for them but never mention their names. People like Latham need them in order to get publicity and 

Bolt is happy to provide it but the real shakers and movers to the IPA other than Murdoch never really get named.

Who was in the select conservative audience to listen to Tony Abbott  lie on Turnbull's election anniversary? Lie Abbott did when Liberal membership was on the increase Abbott said it was on the decrease. Isn't time we saw their faces of those who the man is lying to? Australians aren't that shy. Isn't openness and visibility and Australian value? Why isn't it a conservative one?

HANSON-YOUNG'S SICK EXCUSE

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young's excuse for spending $4000 of our money to go whale-watching with her 11-year-old daughter: "My daughter that day was sick actually." But if your daughter is too sick for school, do you fly her to an overnight stay to go watch whales instead?

  The question is has the independent body that checks MPs expenses the adjudicator accepted Hanson- Young's claim? Bolt isn't a member of that body. Furthermore the claims not hidden and declared to be anything other than it is. So What's Bolt's reason for the conservative whinge other than it's the way he rolls. 98% of his bolgs are complaints about this country even on days of celebration you won't see Bolt having a positive word. Abbott is much the same. Any wonder when you see these two addressing a public meeting the cameras are facing away from the crowd no the the small group in attendance. Even then Bolt's got his fists clenched.

 

 

 

IS PELL FACING A SHOW TRIAL?

Media commentary suggests there’s little chance Cardinal George Pell can get a fair trial. We’ve been told it was “important” Pell was charged with historical sexual offences. People in Pell’s home town had been “hurt” and “the world will be watching”.  Pardon? Is Pell on trial for his own alleged offences or the sins of other priests?  

 To convince us we don't live in a democracy and we don't  have separation of powers in Australia  why is it Bolt is trying to involve himself in the influencing of due process. George Pell has been charged not the Cardinal, the priest or the Institution. Unfortunately there seems no legal mechanism with which to charge the Catholic Church. To state otherwise is simply Bolt's ignorance of Australian law. We are about to try to discover George Pell not the Cardinal.

 

A DIVERSITY OF PUNCHES

Satire usually isn't quite so obvious: "The AFL official who gave Bachar Houli a glowing character reference last week has been reported for his own on-field thuggery. AFL diversity manager Ali Fahour was captured on video striking a Whittlesea opponent ... with a right hook."

Bolt still seems peeved that that Bachar Houli wasn't sentenced more severely for being a Muslim. He showed his ignorance of the law then as well when character references are allowed however only as mitigating evidence to sentencing. Talk about the diversity of punches one's proud of it was Bolt in Carlton. He should have been charged with GBH but escaped. One wonders if he'd have had a cast of referees at sentencing?

 Ali Fahour will face charges. Unlike Bolt he won't be bragging about them and calling others to follow his example as Bolt did.  When Bolt was convicted and was found guilty of vilification & lying did he find he had a slew of character witnesses speaking up for him? Photos of the expression  on Bolt's face along with the continuous whine we've heard over 7 years from Bolt would suggest not. The APC and the Media Industry generally seem to regard Andrew Bolt's participation in media as one totally devoid of 'fair play'. Australian's value a "fair go" something beyond Andrew Bolt.

 

CNN ABUSES TRUMP; WHINES WHEN HIT BACK

Unpresidential? Sure. But the hysterical media reaction  to the spoof video of Trump wresting a man with a CNN logo on his head shows journalists aren't acting like real journalists, either.  Claims that Trump is endangering the lives of journalists  invite the contempt of viewers who long suspected journalists can dish it out but can't take it.

  So Trump is  Bolt's model of a President.  Guess he is if George Pell is his model of a Cardinal and Abbott his model of a Prime Minister. Abbott had a classic "No Speak" moment with the ABC and generally poor relationship with the media globally. Trump can't speak unless speeches are prepared for him but he doesn't want attention focused on his unsuccessful policies. So it leaves him to play with the kids outside in the sandpit who really don't want him to be Presidential. Trump is ratings Presidents aren't. National Inquirer is a success because it amplifies the flaws of the successful. Trump offers tabloid material to the media and it distracts from Making America Great. The  Trump has earned the scorn of Republicans, Democrats and the Nation has a rating of 37% but has boosted the ratings of the cable news channels. He's not clever he's easy. 
Bolt is defending this salesman whose created a new style for making America great lie, distract and entertain and let business take care of itself. It's the Abbott style of "Shirt fronting Putin" and be in permanent opposition. Bolt did the same in Indonesia promise the world get the government to build a tollway so the land value trebles then walk away. Adani is doing it to us and we are going to give him $1bill. Not the banks not investors but we the tax payers of Australia we are being Trumped. It's not great business it's a tried and true speculator's formula get the vendor to pay and provide the finance for "a promise". The promise distracts in much the same way as Trump does. In fact it's a tried and true formula conservatives apply to hide their lack of progressive ideas.
