'Game-changer': Crude oil surges over 10pc following Saudi attacks

The attack on Saudi Oil has only one real beneficiary, and that's Trump's Republicans the surge in oil prices and the release of America's reserves for export appears more a case of insider trading and market manipulation than any real intent other than to help save Trump's economic disaster. Any global problem could easily be solved by the drop in trading embargoes currently being enforced on countries like Venezuela.
An attack on a major oil processing facility in Saudi Arabia has led to a spike for crude oil prices.

Adam Goodes' Australian Dream

Adam Goodes' Australian Dream

I've eagerly awaited Stan Grant's film on Adam Goodes, titled The Australian Dream. If it were half as good as The Final Quarter, it would be worth the wait. It was certainly worth the wait.

The taxpayer may have to foot the bill for casual 'double dipping', employers warn.

Taxpayers may foot $1 billion bill for casual workers' back pay.

Why is a casual worker defined legally as permanent being roasted and accused of "double-dipping" and employers not accused of "wage theft"? Why is it that employers will be let off the hook and the workers across Australia have to pay that will be a case of "double-dipping". When Unions are charged, they are forced to pay when employers are charged workers are threatened. It's time the oneway street was closed.(ODT)
Taxpayers may have to foot the bill for as much as $1 billion worth of casual worker backpay claims, as workers file claims with the government's Fair Entitlements Guarantee.
A landmark Federal Court case last year ruled that a coal mine worker employed casually through labour-hire firm WorkPac was actually a permanent employee because he worked regular hours, sparking fear of similar claims of up to $8 billion across the nation's economy.
The latest class action, a $12 million claim filed by the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union, is listed in the Federal Court on Monday, and a sex shop worker became the first casual retail worker to file an annual leave backpay claim in July.
With at least seven such cases now in court, employer peak body Australian Industry Group warned many employers could be pushed out of business if hit with similar claims - leaving the Fair Entitlements Guarantee to pay out any successful claims.
Tree planting and other environmental programs can inject cash into the economy.

Why going green is the best way to fire up the economy

Large scale infrastructure spending might be a good idea for the Australian economy at a difficult economic moment in which we find ourselves. But both capacity constraints and budget-busting nature of that type of spending make it highly unlikely that it can be implemented on a time-scale that achieves the full fiscal stimulus that we need.
By contrast, a green stimulus focusing on environmental remediation and restoration around Australia is a practical and productive approach that could be rolled out quickly, and which would help both the economy and the environment.

How boring! If anybody uses Andrew Bolt's name, it's like a lightning rod for the attention-seeking opinionator who can't resist talking about his favourite topic "himself". Long before Andrew Bolt tried to pathetically insert himself as the Bill, O'Reilly, Sean Hannity Fox carbon copy down under he did have a gig on the ABC's Insiders. It was a time when the ABC hadn't been neutered and financially shredded as it is today. Long before Tony Abbott's bullshit of "NO CUTS" to the ABC was being touted as an election promise. Back then, as it does today, the ABC uses professional journalists as their anchors to programs that invite the diversity of Australian opinion on its current affairs discussion panels. Outstanding shows like The Drum, Q&A, and the Insiders anchored professionally by the quality of Julia Baird and Barry Cassidy.  Professional journalists that have actually done some research and homework on the topics being discussed rather than opinionators like Andrew Bolt and Miranda Devine who invite-only like-minded guests on their shows.
Ita Buttrose is nobody's fool when it comes to the media and knows here way around the block on a two-way street. She didn't "ban"  Bolt who has only ever travelled one way around that block. I can't speak for Miranda Devine, who is a quick thinker and more qualified than even Andrew Bolt is for the jobs they do. Anyway for Ita to state the obvious that neither is a "good fit" for the ABC has raised Bolt's shackles, his ego not intelligence. Bolt has been on the ABC before yes, but never as an anchor, moderator or even a professional journalist but merely as a contrasting voice to somebody else. There is no Andrew Bolt Show on the ABC as much as Tony Abbott would have liked or other members of the LNP would have. Because the ABC is authenticly Australian and has more trust and legitimacy in the eyes of the Australian public than anything or anyone found in Murdoch's media stable apart from Steven Speers who has abandoned ship for the ABC because of "fit".

LIU CASE: WHY PM'S RACE CARD IS A THREAT TO OUR SAFETY

COLUMN Scott Morrison, what have you done? Australians are in greater danger now that you’ve played the race card to defend Liberal MP, Gladys Liu. The reckless Prime Minister last week didn’t just stir up racial tensions. He also made it harder to discuss the real threat from communist China. Here is just how he got this so very wrong.

"The tyranny's useful idiot" What has Andrew Bolt been other than an example of just that for the Murdochian media empire? He's written 2 columns which have taken him a week to complete. Both subject's origins other media personalities who penned them. Bolt's grabbed the work of others and ran with their opinions rather than anything of his own.
Bolt's a racist who claims he's not a racist but accuses the PM of misplaying the race card as if racism doesn't exist but is simply a tactical game. Bolt's indigenous and Gladys Lui isn't Chinese she's British, and so race doesn't exist it's merely a social construct, but Africans either Muslim or Christian should never have been let into Australia because they aren't culturally like Andrew Bolt.
You won't find another journalist in Australia who doesn't use race as often as Andrew Bolt, not just as a political tactic, but as a god-given justification of his own superiority and social position in his Australian hierarchy.
Proof of Bolt's internalised white supremacist racism was delivered the night he mocked laughed at and got his rocks off with his son James and Peter on the IPA sponsored Podcast. When Dad couldn't help himself laugh at the idea that the South Sudanese  Community here in Melbourne could dare run a Beauty Contest. Bolt wasn't playing that night he was as real and genuine as you'd ever find Bolt a danger to the cultural unity and fabric of this country.

Anti-Science bean counter Andrew Bolt once again takes an individual meteorological forecast to let us know the planet is cooling and global science is wrong. It's the equivalent of saying that Capitalism is good because he can point to a philanthropist. You don't explain a forest by showing us a tree.
Bolt knows the difference between an individual event like Andrew Bolt, who isn't an explanation for the Murdoch News Corp model of business and journalism. Instead, he is explained by that model and the real rationale for its right-wing ideology, money.  Bolt doesn't merely fade and become left-wing by calling Morrison wrong for playing the race card against Gladys Liu. He is still very much a cog in a biased right-wing system.
Snow today doesn't mean the end of global warming as much as Bolt would have people believe.

CRIME AGAINST JOURNALISM: STITCHING UP BRETT KAVANAUGH

UPDATE: MORE TRASH This New York Times hit job on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is not journalism but a frame-up: "A classmate, Max Stier, saw Mr Kavanaugh with his pants down at a different drunken dorm party, where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student.” Guess what crucial fact the NYT omitted?

Crime by definition, according to Andrew Bolt, is any investigation of the members of the upper echelon of the conservative elite not so however others. Information and data investigating the history of an individual's past of a Trump's appointee like Kavanagh's standing are private. However, on how many occasions have we seen Trump's appointees shown to have been total character failures. On those occasions, the less wealthy persons have just been left abandoned.
Trump far wealthier than Kavanagh automatically uses his money in a pinch to keep information hidden and says Kavanaugh should "sue". It's the defence that the 1% have always had over and above those lesser funded.
Note however if the facts attributed to the SCOTUS judge prove to be accurate and Trump's man Kavanagh loses Trump simply washes his hands and says"I didn't know" and in the most extreme case appoints another in his place.
Impeachment of Kavanagh is nigh on impossible the best outcome would be the revelation of the man and his character as recorded outside of any rigged hearing as was previously held.
