Sky News commentator Andrew Bolt says the bubonic plague has been blown out of proportion.
The controversial commentator said the governments of the Middle Ages were reckless in shutting down their economies when only a third of the population died.
“It was a massive over-reaction. All of those stories at the time that said ‘Fears that the plague could kill 50% of the total population’, when in fact it was much lower – more like 30%. What a beat up,” Bolt said.
“The whole thing was devastating. Getting people to shut up their houses, stopping trade and shutting down shops. People were basically prisoners in their own homes. A lot of people lost their jobs. It totally changed society. It definitely killed the economy”.
He said modern governments tackling coronavirus could learn from the mistakes of those in the Middle Ages by doing much less to stop the spread of the disease.
“If those governments back then hadn’t overreacted in shutting everything down, think how much stronger the economies of Europe would be right now”.

Not only are Chinese-Americans facing discrimination, but “other Asian Americans — with families from Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar and other places — are facing threats, too, lumped together with Chinese-Americans by a bigotry that does not know the difference,” The New York Times’ Sabrina Tavernise and Richard A. Oppel Jr. recently reported.
In the past few weeks alone, The online reporting forum Stop AAPI Hate has received more than 650 direct reports of discrimination against primarily Asian Americans.

 So Bolt is an expert at bullying so we must give him some credit for identifying the bullies. DISHONEST ABC MUST CORRECT PELL FALSEHOOD

The ABC still hasn't corrected this falsehood: "Two new accusers say George Pell abused them." The truth: these accusers aren't "new". The allegations of one collapsed at a committal hearing. The allegations of the other were deemed too weak to go to trial. Why has the ABC chosen now to pretend Pell faces "new" claims? This is shamefully dishonest.

The ABC needs only report what is occurring the facts are as they stand & verified. They then aren't falsehoods. Any new accusers now are simply reborn opinionators worthy of being reported. They aren't part of the current context or court proceedings but they have the right to be mentioned and to that extent are new or reborn. Does Bolt declare reborn Christian isn't new? He kept telling us time and time again Abbott has changed or will change and be new or reborn that was a falsehood. There's no MUST no duty of care here. Bolt's merely scapegoating the ABC because he can't suspend the inevitable on Tuesday that an independent legal decision will be made. A process that has taken years will have come to a conclusion that might not satisfy him.

Other states don't release daily counts of those who have recovered - which in Victoria show a fall in the number of those now sick.

It's apparent that Bolt is using the prism of his anti-climate change arguments to frame those against what he claims is a pandemic overreaction. Australia still remains in the top 25% of nations with the most cases. However, according to Bolt, there is no pandemic here. Proof look at the numbers that have recovered and not that a cancer patient died. We are being withheld the information on recovery as if it were some conspiracy by whom Bolt can't say for what purpose he won't say. However, it's somehow because we see ourselves as part of this planet which we aren't we stand alone.

 However "Pandemics" aren't about "recovery".  The denial of Tsunami isn't spoken of simply because everything wasn't destroyed. So what Bolt is arguing is there aren't any pandemics or global disasters so it best we don't do anything.  Somehow Australia is an elected state that has dodged the bullet. Only Bolt and his exclusive brethren seem to be privy to this. Sweden and the Netherlands are doing what Bolt proposes and aren't faring too well. Bolt's argument has no basis, in fact, we don't know how many people have been infected as we haven't the capacity to test.  If you concentrate only on what wasn't damaged you delude yourself and say COVID -19 is just another cold and nothing special about it. Just as Trump has been doing until now when he now says 240,000 lives are expendable but Oligarchic Capitalism isn't.

Has Bolt the advocate against Safe Schools suddenly reversed everything he stands for and joined the left? He was quite clear that it was he that determined whether his daughter was suitably dressed or not.
