Hefty cuts to JobSeeker and JobKeeper mean that Australia now faces a potentially more deadly epidemic than Covid-19. But it is largely avoidable, writes Michael Tanner.

Don’t Blame Social Media. Blame Capitalism.

A new Netflix film, The Social Dilemma, would have us believe that increasing social division and polarized political rhetoric is the product of Facebook and Twitter, and not the fact that income inequality has returned to pre–Great Depression levels

Murdoch cops multiple maulings by media monitor

More than 60% of recent complaints upheld by the Australian Press Council were against Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

Bolt denigrates minorities again

Andrew Bolt has not learned from previous adverse APC findings. Nor from losing the Popovic case. Nor from the absolute shellacking he copped from Justice Bromberg in the celebrated racial vilification case Eatock v Bolt.

His Herald Sun column in August 2019 referred to teenaged climate activist Greta Thunberg as ‘freakishly influential’ and ‘deeply disturbed’ and commented:

‘I have never seen a girl so young with so many mental disorders treated by so many adults as a guru.’

The APC slammed Bolt’s column, finding that ‘there was no public interest in undermining the credibility of a person, her opinions or her supporters on the basis of her disabilities...’.

The remedy

The APC has been in business now for 45 years. While its influence is positive overall, it has not curbed the continual distortions, falsehoods, character assassinations and smears published routinely by the Murdoch press.

For these to end, those publications must be shut down — as happened to News of the World in Britain in 2011 and to 60 unprofitable suburban and country newspapers in Australia this year.

So we must join and strengthen the boycott of the newspapers and their advertisers to ensure all Murdoch publications lose money and eventually disappear. Sooner the better.

They are down almost 40% in thpast 5 years and you can see Bolt ready to Bolt but he loves the money too much. Foxtel is looking just as jaundiced.

FAKE NEWS

VICTORIA SHUT DOWN WITH JUST FIVE NEWD INFECTIONS. INSANE

Just five new infections since yesterday in the entire state of Victoria - population 6.7 million. Yet millions of people remain confined to their homes, and thousands of businesses remain shut by law. This is no longer about protecting Victorians but protecting a Premier who knows he is finished if infections rise again.

We can see what Bolt spends his time doing while on his PC typing away in the Newd himself or watching it.
Covid-19 could be likened to Novichok, the deadly Russian nerve agent. We know it's there. We know it's poisonous and quickly spread, but we don't know where it is. One person, yes, only one person untraced in the community could be another super spreader.  Even if found, we don't know where they have or could have been could or are the trigger for another chain reaction?
The social system under which we operate was grossly inadequate, and it's that which Dan Andrews is changing and with the support of the Victorian public.
Andrew Bolt is the Quisling amongst us operating for the virus under the guise of "saving the economy" "saving our personal freedoms" with not a toss for any notion of "in the public interest" All about 'me' fuck' the 'we' I'm Andrew Bolt, and I naturally do what Dan Andrews expects. I isolate myself while telling you you don't have to go out and spread the news. Dan Andrews is a Victorian, Andrew Bolt is the Quisling

THE MADNESS OF DAN ANDREWS: POINTLESS BULLYING OVER POINTLESS DETAILS

COLUMN Has Daniel Andrews gone mad? Watch the Premier carefully explaining on Sunday which completely useless virus ban to drop and which to keep. Here’s a man losing himself in mindless detail, rather than just checking out the big picture, as if his busy-busy bullying really did make any difference.

There is no "bullying". There is Public Interest. Bolt has no position on Public Interest of any kind other than his. It's in the guise that the individual is a stand-alone entity free to do whatever he wants.  Yes, it's all about Bolt, and if he doesn't like what you are doing,he will muster all his power to gather like-minded people to stop you. The result is the minority rule. Andrews was elected to Public Service to serve the interests of us all, not Bolt's minority alone. That's what Bolt is railing about that his claims are privileged and diminished by Dan's attention to Public Service.

TRIBUNAL WARNS SENATOR AGAINST SPEAKING

Some officials should be more protective of free speech: "A Tasmanian Liberal senator and her supporters have been warned they could be prosecuted for 'insulting' the state’s anti-discrimination commissioner in a rapidly escalating war over free speech in the transgender debate. Equal Opportunity Tasmania... suggests she could face prosecution..."

Like Bolt who was found guilty of racial vilification by the courts despite the protection of News Corp these senators have been warned. Justice is meant to be blind.

TwoEyeHead👀 on Twitter: "Andrew Bolt rushes to defend Cardinal George Pell reveals he is a segment of the repugnant Human Pellipede https://t.co/j50x26wEhd #auspol #auspolcartoons #Election2019… https://t.co/sy9ZqK9pN6"

PELL RETURNS TO THE VATICAN IN TRIUMPH AS ENEMY FALLS

On Tuesday George Pell flies back to Rome, a challenge to enemies caught in the Vatican’s worst financial scandal in decades. Those enemies hoped Cardinal Pell, the Vatican’s former corruption buster, would rot in an Australian jail on suspiciously false charges of child sexual abuse. But Pell returns in triumph, and his nemesis faces jail instead.

We don't hear the bells ringing Bolt is suffering from Tinnitus. Nobody will be carrying Pell on their shoulders. The Pope certainly wont.
