This is what Morrison declares is "essential defense lessons" and theat's simply "redefining war" and the "external threat" we face. The reality however there is more immanent danger domestically from the far right and neo-fascists in Australia than from any external force. just 5 years ago the LNP insisted on the French "de nuking " the 12 subs if they wanted a contract. They were then regarded as the best of the best units on the planet and we wanted them "neutered". Today just 5 years later Morrison shafted the French and has rushed yes rushed into Uncle Sam's hand paying and placing us at the provocative end of the spear in the region making us an even greater target and less independent than we were before.
Morrison is manufacturing a postured war for little more than political reasons and an up and coming election just as the LNP has done year in and year out at every election. Menzies took us to Vietnam,Howard to Iraq Abbott to the Ukraine and the Middle East. The LNP have been sabre rattling and stirring China since 2013 but really prodding the dragon to get their do nothing 8 years off the front pages before the election. What's been ignored again is Climate Change, the Pandemic, the growing disparity of income distribution, welfare for the rich, the NBN, Corruption and a do-nothing government so intent on politicking and retaining power that it's forgotten what government responsibility is to a a Democratic Nation. There money in enormous quantities about to be let loose in a lopsided battle where every effort will be made to smother the voices of opposition. Even the voices of Liberals who have abandoned the Liberal Party and want rebuild a new one with the integrity they see now lost. Peta Credlin said it out loud "don't give them air".
The LNP needs to be assessed on the work they have done for us and not on another raft of BS and vaccuous promises and certainly not on the work we forced them to do. It's almost 4years and the promise of an ICAC has all but vanished why? Because even Morrison knows he can't bear the scrutiny beyond the photo shoots and slogans..
Lessons might have been learned from earlier failures, but
while Morrison appears to find plenty of moments to shift blame for
those failures, he takes few opportunities to reflect on moments in
which he could learn from them.
Scott Morrison: What the bloody hell are you doing
West Australians took steps to protect their State - Scott Morrison took Australian taxpayer cash and helped Clive Palmer to sue them
Richard Marles MP
“We Meet It and We Beat It.”
At that point, CBS’s Margaret Brennan could only observe that no country had actually delivered on such targets. Hardly a problem, came Morrison’s reply to the bubble’s bursting. “See, it’s one thing to have a commitment, but in Australia, you’re not taken seriously unless you’ve got a plan to achieve the commitment.” This was delightful coming from a Prime Minister who has no plans to speak off when it comes to dealing with climate change. In fact, Morrison’s tenure has been marked by an absence of plans on any major policy decision. When any have been proposed – the vaccine rollout being the conspicuous example – they have been spectacular failures.
Morrison was particularly fortunate on that score, winning over his hosts with a shameless slogan that sounded hopelessly electoral and starkly mendacious.
