Israel’s missile attack on media offices in Gaza City last weekend was successful. A gratifying response came quickly from the head of The Associated Press, which had a bureau in the building for 15 years: “The world will know less about what is happening in Gaza because of what happened today.”

For people who care about truth, that’s outrageous. For the Israeli government, that’s terrific.

The AP president, Gary Pruitt, said “we are shocked and horrified that the Israeli military would target and destroy the building housing AP’s bureau and other news organizations in Gaza.”

There’s ample reason to be horrified. But not shocked.

Joe Biden’s first big foreign policy challenge in Israel and PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Crisis in Israel ends Biden’s White House

The Biden White House is being forced to confront its first major foreign policy crisis with the week-long violence in Israel and Palestine. The conflict has cost over 230 lives, the vast majority in Palestine

The distorted neutral language of "objective" reporting is why Biden seems helpless to stop Netanyahu from what he is really doing. That's simply to remain in power. To remain in control of a rather weakened democratic state and not to be thrown into jail for corruption. He's doing a Trump but unlike Trump he's winning. Yes, this conflict cost over 230 lives. 218 Palestinians 50% of which are innocent women, children and thousands injured all in a week unable to access medical help in an area riddled with Covid and no oxygen. A Week of never ending violence by Netanyahu who has given Biden "the fuck you" finger for trying to stop it. He's not just another puffed up Trump in reality he has more power and he is using it. However, Netanyahu no longer has an American puppet like Trump in Biden. Biden's message is unlike Trump he won't be bought by America's minority of right-wing Jews with money or simply by naming developments in "illegally occupied" territories like he did Trump with "Trump Heights".

But unfortunately crisis isn't in the White House at all. It's global and in the UN, ICC and Netanyahu's  criminal but purposeful politicization of fear in Israel's citizens to reek unnecessary carnage on Gaza just to maintain power. The global crisis is that we haven't a united front able to stop him. Under the guise of Covid/GSP/Tracking the Israeli state has police and secret surveillance teams rounding up leading protesters and activists and having them detained. The 'war' isn't against Hamas it's against anyone anti-Bibi it's against thought and the freedom of the press. This war isn't just opposite religious and moral cultural beliefs it's a short term, pragmatically calculated precision action by the worst kind of right-wing Israeli authoritarian thugs used as a means to get power., a Kristalnacht. It has nothing to do with policy but everything to do about control and Palestinians, regarded as disposable garbage, are simply the tool. Israel will remain for sale and the highest bidder will still be America.

Biden isn't ineffective because despite the fact that American Jews in the majority were against Trump, against Adeleson money and against Netanyahu it's still "business is business" money and politics go together after all don't they? Biden might have a greater degree of humanism and look good in the eyes of Americans but it's still not anything like the influence money has on America and the need to maintain control of that oil rich region. This isn't a war of defense there is no crisis in the White House it's a show of power and the world UN and ICC are just watching.

Cease-Fire Announced Between Israel And Hamas

Egypt brokered the agreement on behalf of Hamas, and PM Netanyahu announced his security cabinet agreed unanimously to all of the terms.

Israel has decided it's no longer in their interests with the world watching on to continue their war of attrition on the families in Gaza. Netanyahu believes he attained his domestic goals despite the foreign ones weakened. The ever increased surveillance of the Apartheid State will continue and will allow the Right-Wing Settlers to criminally act as a colonizing front guard committing murder, mayhem and theft of property under the protection and sponsorship of the Netanyahu government. As for the any aid to rebuild, medical assistance vaccines mad available to the Gazan families well that remains yet to be decided. For now 3-4 hours of electricity a day will remain the rationed allowance in the Stalag

While Israel launched strikes against Gaza last week after Palestinians protested planned evictions in Jerusalem, a group chat of journalists in Canada was lighting up with notifications. They were frustrated with Canadian media coverage that painted the strikes without context and with a glaring absence of Palestinian voices. Some in the group, which included several Muslim journalists, shared frustrating experiences of advocating for nuanced coverage of international issues in their newsrooms. Some asked for advice on how to approach their editors about concerns with coverage, or lack thereof, of what was really going on in the region. So they drafted an open letter. “‘The Middle East is complicated. We need to hear both sides. Everyone has a lot of emotions about this.’ [sic] These are just some of the excuses news editors have provided to Canadian journalists trying to cover the escalating violence against Palestinians,” the letter read. “The lack of nuanced Canadian media coverage of forced expulsions and indiscriminate airstrikes over the last three days, which have so far killed at least 137 Palestinians, including 36 children, has been disappointing.” At the time of publication

Merlino vows to ‘completely rebuild mental health system’

Acting Victorian Premier James Merlino says the state government will “completely rebuild our mental health system,” and that young people’s needs are a priority.

A promise no prior governments were prepared to ever tackle but now can it be executed without simply building more prisons and park benches?  This is an investment in our future and far from a burden.

Andrew Bolt's Blog,6/5/19; Yesterday Andrew Bolt put up a post. Here is what he didn't say; LNP and the economy 1st to 21st:

via Poll wrap: Newspoll and Ipsos have contrasting leaders' ratings trends; Abbott trails in Warringah

The Sun-Herald reported that a Lonergan poll of Warringah for GetUp, conducted May 1 from a sample of 805, gave independent Zali Steggall a 56-44 lead over incumbent Tony Abbott. The only primary vote reported was Abbott’s at 38%, down from 51.6% in 2016.
These aren't all Abbott haters Bolt

HOW SCARY ARE THE ABBOTT HATERS?

The campaign against Tony Abbott in Warringah has brought out people seemingly deranged by hate. They include some of our biggest activist groups. From my editorial on The Bolt Report: why the haters are the real problem, and why their candidate, Zali Steggall, is a strange global warming extremist. What, no solar panels?

20m Link

To be in opposition to Abbott defines "hatred" according to Andrew Bolt. What is the opposite of hatred then, Tony Abbott ofcourse. So yes if you're against Tony Abbott, you must hate him as he's an exemplary person around and around Bolt goes forgetting the man's political past altogether.  There is no mention here that Abbott's been riding the on again off again climate denier carousel and is back a warmist supporting the Paris agreement when he was once was Trump insisting on getting out of it.
No mention transition which occurs over time and when asked at the turn of the last century what people wanted were faster horses and not cars. Does Bolt still burn coal in his lounge room in support of the fuel he loves so much? Has he invested in coal or technologies to make it cleaner? No, he hasn't, but he's laughing at warmists because they still fly and drive petrol driven cars. Just as those did way back when they thought the only problem was faster horses.
You know what hate is it's not booing Tony Abbott it's shutting the door in the face of a refugee. It's Tony Abbott telling his sister she's not good enough to raise her kids. It's calling the abused children of priests liars, and it's sending our airforce to the Middle East to indiscriminately bomb families and then say we thought they were the enemy. Even worse it's an Army that denies they even did it and government that has turned collateral damage into an "on the water matter" and hides their misdoings from the public.
Abbott is not facing haters Bolt he faced them when he was dumped as PM he facing wrath not of outsiders in Warringah. He's facing the wrath of his peers the residents who will vote for him and you are abusing them for being vocal that ought to impress and help Abbott swingers. Calling them shits if they dare vote against him...Great PR move it's scary!!

Death toll rises in Gaza as Israeli PM orders 'massive strikes' against Hamas

Rockets and missiles from Gaza killed four civilians in Israel while Israeli strikes killed 19 Palestinians, more than half of them civilians, in surging cross-border fighting on Sunday, according to Gazan officials and the Israeli military.

Let's get some perspective on Andrew Bolt's Paywall post of yesterday shall we? Something else was happening that Bolt wasn't referring to yesterday when he posted

'WE WILL CHOP OFF THEIR HEADS'. WELL-TRAINED CHILDREN CHANT

Children say the cutest things. Check the children at the Philadelphia Muslim Society: "We will chop off their heads, and we will liberate the sorrowful and exalted Al-Aqsa Mosque. We will lead the army of Allah fulfilling His promise, and we will subject them to eternal torture."
4hYesterday Bolt drew attention to children reciting words that seemed hateful about Israel. However when you actually consider that 66% the population of Gaza is under  25 and 45% under 14 it becomes no surprise that the words of Israeli far right and Rabbi's are out to kill children as if they were vermin. It's no surprise Israel kills more civilians than it does Hamas, and it's no surprise that Gaza is seen as the worlds biggest prison. If you consider half are women what are the odds you are going to kill civilians. Andrew Bolt intentionally tried to make out that children under 10 were a major enemy of the great nation of Israel that is one of the worlds leading weaponised countries that get billions in aid from the USA in the form of weapons and has the IDF one of the worlds foremost fighting forces.

Australia’s economy has deteriorated under the Coalition

Australia’s economy has deteriorated under the Coalition

In 2013, Australia’s economy was the best-performed in the world by a significant margin. It had been the best since 2009. This has been affirmed by many independent economists and world leaders. It now ranks 21st in the world on the IAREM, a multi-factorial measure of overall economic management.
Scott Morrison wrote in his Saturday email (and on the Liberal Party website):

‘The Labor Party has shown that they cannot manage money. If you can’t manage money, you can’t run the country.’
All the actual data shows that it is the Coalition, not Labor, which cannot manage the economy. The difference is not marginal. It is the difference between the best in the world and 21st.

I BLAME YOU FOR THIS TOXIC ELECTION

COLUMN I blame voters. They’re turning this election campaign into one of our most dishonest, irrational and frightening. They are turning this election toxic by rewarding conmen, hysterics and bullies. They are accepting what they should reject, and Labor and GetUp are getting away with murder.

1h Bolt

The Economy that's meant to be "booming" has slid from 1st in 2013 to 21st in 2019. Marriage Equality was voted for by Australians in a "referendum" is being ignored and has remained unaccepted. Remember the LNP promise "no cuts" to the ABC their budget was cut by $395 million the equivalent of what it was in 1984. The NBN is incomplete and has us now at 62nd in the world from 32nd in terms of speed. Should I go on about, what is toxic and what isn't? What it is toxic is a government that's been fighting itself since 2013 and Bolt now blames voters? The man lives in cloud cuckoo land. The voters are individuals and not dishonest. All one needs to do is look at the front pages of the Murdoch papers around Australia and the meaning of dishonesty and toxicity is self-evident. Bolt is looking at himself in a mirror when he's calling out "toxic".

Andrew Bolt is an enabler and radicaliser of hate. The company he works for was banned in NZ for their continued video of a mass murderer in Christchurch. Sky News was pulled from the air. Bolt for years has been promoting hate and division in Australia so much, so we have seen a significant rise in Islamophobia. The Herald Sun printed some 3000 negative articles on Islam in 2017 alone, and Andrew Bolt was a significant contributor. Bolt helped run Yassmin Abdel-Magied out of the country while pleading for the cases of racists to be let in Milo just one. A policy to ban Andrew Bolt is minor compared with what ought to be done to recruiters and radicalizers of hate. False advertising is forbidden, and Bolt as a propagandist is an advertiser of hate and deserves to be banned.

SHORTEN'S SOCIALISM HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

Chris Mitchell is right: "The media story of the campaign is... Labor is surfing into government with the biggest policy-shifting agenda since Gough Whitlam but with little of the scrutiny Whitlam, Bob Hawke and Kevin Rudd faced when they led parties that turfed out sitting Coalition governments."

Andrew Bolt dreams of retirement in his beloved Netherlands one of the most socialist countries in the EU. Australia is Capitalist by far in comparison. Andrew Bolt loves Amsterdam a city with twice the population of Melbourne as multicultural if not more but with a more significant community of non-Caucasians and non-Christians and a city that is more Socialist than anywhere in Australia. Shorten's dreams are far less left wing than the city Andrew Bolt dreams of retiring in. Who is the con merchant the PR man not to be trusted?
Abbott was riding high as if on cocaine riding the Chinese Free Trade Train. Bolt joined Turnbull to destroy that relationship. He even supports Trump who is about to sign a deal that will leave Australia out of the trade loop built by the ALP. The Murdoch press made every effort to diminish our trade relationship with China and China has obliged.
News Corp is allowed to do what it wants as a private corporation. It can choose to be as biased as it wishes as it's private. But then so is Rugby Australia why isn't the AFL and Rugby Australia allowed to operate under the same conditions as News Corp? Filou's is a contract issue, not a religious one. Filou has every right to believe what he wishes and follow the rules of his faith he also signed a commercial contract with Rugby Australia that limited what he can and can't do. The decision now is whether or not the two parties can agree it's certainly not Bolt's.
Bolt is a stickler for rules only when they support his views. How many times has he claimed the ABC has not obeyed its charter only to be laughed at when the results of all investigations prove him wrong. The Filou case isn't a case of free speech but a case of contract and prior agreement.
