What's been happening in politics this week is utterly abnormal. But some journalists continue to treat it as business as usual.
At what point will so much of Australia’s mainstream media, and the press gallery in particular, stop pretending what’s happening in politics is even remotely business as usual?
One of the lessons of the last four years in America was the struggle of a media class resisting the normalization of Trump’s behaviour — the open corruption, the constant new lows of presidential misbehaviour, the trashing of institutions and centuries-old political norms, the attempts to intimidate the media, constant attacks on science and facts, indifference to the deaths of hundreds of thousands, culminating in his incitement of an effort to overthrow a democratically elected government.
We’ve not plumbed anything like those depths in Australia, but nor is much of the media resisting the rapid deterioration in political standards.
Plenty of journalists, mostly female, have been prepared to call this out. When will the laggards of the press gallery see that this isn’t normal? Or are they too deep within the culture to see it?

"And in this corrupt human rights council, this Chinese-Communist dictatorship now lectures Australia about human rights?"

The fact is Bolt the outspoken assimilationist is here throwing shit at China totally ignoring our human rights abuse of "Asylum Seekers", First Nations People, Muslims, Africans, and NZers. Bolt advocated Muslims here in Australia need be treated more like the Chinese treat them. More like Aborigines are. They are the most incarcerated indigenous people in the world, their deaths in custody ignored, wage theft not compensated, and their culture blamed for their dysfunction.
Assimilation policies while still in place as advocated by Bolt need to be increased and immigration of Muslims stopped. A new necessary best practice needs to be adopted to counter our declaration of being the world's best multicultural nation. Beijing has ‘growing concern’ about overseas opposition
The Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Michael Shoebridge says Beijing wants to “stoke” internal debates and anger overseas as it now has a “growing concern” about opposition. Mr Shoebridge said Beijing is “really starting to worry” about the growing opposition to their country’s “actions and behaviour”. “When the EU puts sanctions on individual Chinese officials that are right in the middle of directing those atrocities in Xinjiang, that gets Beijing’s attention,” he said. “There’s growing concern that other countries are starting to see that we’re all facing the same problem with China.” He told Sky News host Andrew Bolt the problem with China is “rooted into behavior of the Chinese Government”. Mr Bolt pointed to occurrences of China “lecturing” Australia and the United States about human rights. “What an incredible and offensive lecture from a bunch of hypocrites,” Mr Bolt said. “As we speak there’s two Australians – including a journalist – locked up simply for criticising China – a country that is so racist that it is trying to virtually wipe out Tibetan and Uighur culture.” Mr Shoebridge said China’s accusations are about “distraction and misdirection”. “They’re able to talk about our internal debates because we have political systems where we can have internal debates, we don’t end up getting locked up with our organs harvested because we disagree with the government,” he said.
Can you believe just how authentic Andrew Bolt is in his pretence that he really cares what happens to Muslims in China? Wasn't Bolt loud enough voicing that Muslims needed special treatment in Australia. Expulsion. incarceration and reeducation programs were a must for all Muslims because all Muslims posed a danger to Australia. Now he's their protector ho ho.

Instead he praises and holds up a Dutch passport where even more of the cultural qualities he complains about here exist.
Bolt's really is a fake Dutchman who dreams of his retirement "nirvana" as a writer in Amsterdam. Twice as populated, battling climate change, more multicultural, far more socialist and where women have won wars he still wants to fight here. Yes, he dreams of writing but there but so do all of us in one way or other who can't but are better writers than he is. Writers he criticizes for having won awards from left wing boards. Good Australian writers who don't pretend to be better that their fellow man like Andrew Bolt does.
