Man declared as Australia's best Treasurer seems more than confused but in fact dishonest if he believes a single policy offered by Labor represented a total budget cure. It actually indicates Costello is Australia's most demented Treasurer and quite useless. He's merely playing the man and not the problem like the LNP are prone to do.
Costello like all conservatives simply declares an austerity budget is necessary because it reaches the largest number of people. Those who can least afford it. These are the same conservatives that demand criminal prosecution of union leaders for filching petty cash. However make no sound when the larger population have $400 mill stolen from them annually, yes annually by business. Business that pockets and fail to pay their workers Super. Add to that the 100's of millions taken by the banks and insurance companies. The property developers who run Phoenix companies that fold not paying wages or taxes and then just restart other developments months later. The ATO allows businesses to fold drained of value and taxes not paid. Costello simply writes all this systemic theft as 'too difficult' and Corman as it's 'the past' to be forgotten.
What you have are huge losses by suffered by those with the least power and wealth but the easiest accessed by government who Costello now suggests should fix the budget. However this theft of cash flow is from 65% generally to the top top 20% or overseas. The 20% Costello says can't fix the problem.
Any wonder Wayne Swan was voted the World's best Treasurer and not just Australia's. A drovers dog rates better than Costello who by the way was also questioned about his use of Singapore in minimising the tax obligations of the Future Fund.
Through out history artists have been at the forefront of government criticism. Andrew Bolt has all the time in the world for the art class as he always reminding us of their brilliance and how he wishes he could own the product of their labors . Yet he condemns their politics and disapproves of the sensibility that gives birth to that very art. He clearly only postures when it comes to compassion of 2 drug runners as he calls them and blames them and Indonesia for their forthcoming deaths for little or no reason other defend Abbott at all costs. His love of Abbott who produces no aesthetic value whatsoever far far outweighs anything produced by artists. Except $$$ of course.
The call for a ban on Lomborg is legitimate. It's a ban on yet another Captains Call by Abbott overriding the independence of universities. Is the next step Abbott and Pyne writing tertiary education curriculum?
Secondly it's the appointment of a second rate associate-professor whose last claim to fame was a book written a decade ago. The man hasn't even bothered to keep up with what has occurred in the past 10 years let alone successfully defend the errors pointed out back then.
In other words the man is under-qualified to be an associate professor in an Australian University. He was not vetted through any appropriate academic channels and was merely picked by Abbott like a rabbit from Abbott's hat. He is the enemy of process and examination by a board of peers. If Abbott has the right here to appoint he had that right with not sacking Barry Spurr. He didn't have any right then nor does he have it here.
If it's said Lomborg is not part of UWA and is only renting space then the university is not the appropriate place. The space might be better rented to him in the Prime Minister Office.

Comparisons between Transnationals and Daesh are valid in as much governments can't control either. Those against the FTTP claim Transnationals have no obligation to be good citizens their only obligation is to their bottom line. Daesh is only obliged to it's own ideology. Why are we supporting an FTTP which gives corporations power over governments?
Islamism vs Communism vs Christianism are all ideologies. Jews can find justification in the scriptures for committing atrocities invading and settling Palestinian lands just as Islamists find justification for their atrocities in the Koran. The same can be said of godless communists and Christians who attack Muslims. For Bishop to say one is worse than the other is merely updating justification for LNP action.
The cold war was based on the fear of nuclear war that isn't the case with Islamists today. Secondly Daesh focus is not on us but in forging their own territory and getting recognition. You couldn't get anyone more brutal than Stalin or Pol Pot in securing their power base. Thirdly opposition sympathizers were to be found in all territories no matter which ideology was dominant. It's that 5th column myth that allows the governments of the day to enforce, police and divide their own citizens for the purpose of increasing their own power over their citizenry. McCarthyism, KGB,FSB,ASIO,AFP all grow in strength when the governments of the day feel uncertain of their legitimacy. It applies even more so to Iran,Saudi Arabia, Egypt as it does here. Simply ask what has happened to that feeling of living in the worlds most livable city we all had under Labor?
Bishop is just justifying the extra $630 mill spent on protecting the LNP against a mythical Islamic 5th column. Never for a moment doubt that this government is hoping to help create an event to further justify their need for more control of all our once democratic and cultural institutions. When business steals $400 mill annually off workers in non payment of Super it seems trivial that a $500K loan 0.1% is being raised as major issue by Bolt. The $500,000 hasn't even been stolen. Thank god 12.5% of workers have an association looking after their interests. Did SBS sack Mcintyre for vilifying ANZACS or for not upholding the standards and reputation of SBS. There seem to be two different issues here. McIntyre could have got the sack for tweeting any number of things not just anything to do with the ANZACS. Surely the issue is when does an employer have the right to sack an employee? If Mcintyre was caught being drunk and disorderly could he have been fired? If committing a serious driving offence? Should there be a list? Do Corporations own you? Bolt seems to be supporting academics and the SMH what's the surprise? Is he about to tell Abbott to shirtfront our neighbour? Promise never to talk to them? Ban Indonesian students from studying here? Bolt seems to have nothing in mind. Which describes him to a tee. Bolt makes little or no fuss of people sitting on death row elsewhere. Is it because it's a secular democracy or is it because it's and Islamic secular democracy?

The guaranteeing of 'free speech' in law is equally as ridiculous. Laws are there in the UK against defamation against inciting religious hatred against vilification. These maybe should be strengthened by making them affordable to all groups in the most multicultural society in the EU. In fact they could be strengthened here as well. Coburg City Council is trying to create awareness of correct behaviour as is the AFL. I'm sure they will have a measure of success in making the bogans really standout by isolating them.
