HOPE FOR TURNBULL: WE LIKE HIGHER TAXES

Malcolm Turnbull may get away with this Budget. Two polls suggest Australians actually like being taxed even more through a higher Medicare rebate. Or else, of course, they assume that higher tax means more handouts. Either way, it's dispiriting.

Andrew Bolt is dispirited he believes "the rich" are the driving force of progress and the economy in Australia. They aren't! It's that's the false premise he basis everything on. The rich apart from a few whiz tech heads like Elon Musk aren't entrepreneurs. In the main they have inherited their money and are simply rent collectors who park their money in property, finance and corporates and sit back and do little more. Any fantasy about living in a meritocracy was dead and buried long ago and that funeral was broadcast by Rupert Murdoch himself in the USA when he declared something needed to be done and done fast about the growing inequality or a social democratic upheaval would come in the redistribution and equality. That warning was for Australia as well because until Tony Abbott came onto the scene  the unfairness wasn't so clear as it is today. 

There isn't just a slow drumbeat for social democratic reforms but a demand. A demand  that leaves the real unproductive people with money despondant because they are now the standout welfare recipients that drain us . $65 bill corporate tax cuts go 1) to the bottom line 2) to the share holders 3)  but not to the average Australian family who aren't investors but are the hand to mouth weekly survivors the labourers if lucky in this country. They are the ones  still willing to share the burden of 0.5% increase in Medicare, an increase in education and in welfare because they are in all probability the recipients of that safety net the increasing unemployed and casualised workers. Bolt's heroes live in 4 bedroom houses while he demonizes those who share their households not in Bolt's prized 'nuclear family ' fashion but in over crowded and extended ones if not on the street. All these things Bolt never talks about unless Indigenous of course or Immigrant and then only to blame them for their living condition. 

Have you ever heard Bolt even talk of the "idle rich" let alone blame them for anything. For Bolt they are the "deserving rich" where social examination of their life styles or drug testing is unnecessary.Budget 2017: Taking a scalpel to the poor, unemployed, students and workers

 

FIRST POST-BUDGET POLL: LIBS 47, LABOR 53

Malcolm Turnbull's Budget threw everything into getting a poll lift to save his leadership - more spending, bank-bashing and a handout to pensioners. The first poll since suggests it won't work: the Liberals are 47 per cent to Labor's 53, with just 11 per cent of voters saying they will be better off.

Talk about a weather cock here Bolt saying he's dispirited by the the Sky ReachTEL polls  but now here he's saying the opposite.  However there is no link to this poll but just a quote from his troll Peter BH. So let it be said Bolt with his track record of being a known liar it's suspect when he says he's despirited and then pulls a poll figure out from nowhere telling us the polls are negative. They can't be both. But Bolt would have us think they can.

"PRAGMATIC". A NEW WORD FOR A PM WITH NO CONVICTIONS

 The media agrees. Malcolm Turnbull is being "pragmatic" with his Budget. That's their kind of way of of saying he's got no ideas and no fight and has given in to Labor. Check the log list of journalists now hailing his defeat as "pragmatism".

an approach that evaluates theories or beliefs in terms of the success of their practical application." Definition. Andrew Bolt doesn't know the meaning of the word when he says it's a'way of of saying he's got no ideas and no fight and has given in to Labor. ' Bolt No Mr Bolt it's a way of evaluating your ideas and their ice blocks chance in hell of success. It's the dropping of $13bill worth of Abbott's ideological ideas that were little more than pipe dreams in an ultra conservative fantasy land that couldn't be passed with a bulldozer as a negotiating tool. Here is Bolt's bull "As if his embrace of global warming catastrophism is not ideological."Bolt. There wasn't a mention of Climate Policy in this budget so take it as delivered by Bolt he is the one doing what he generally does to make his points lying.

The opposite of pragmatic is an idealist who has an image of his heaven on earth but fucked if he knows how to get there. Bolt flounders about in cloud cuckoo land with no practical solutions that convince others to think the same. It's why he's less than 5% of the Australian electorate and standing with his back to the wall calling us all lefties.

MORE PELL CLAIMS,BUT BEWARE

With so many allegations against Cardinal George Pell disproved, and police unable after a year to prosecute Pell over shaky claims aired on the ABC, an ABC reporter tries again: "A soon-to-be-released book about Cardinal Pell contains detailed claims that he sexually abused two choirboys at St Patrick's Cathedral." But check her sources.

He hasn't mentioned Tony Abbott very much since the Budget deflecting from the shellacking he took from the Turnbull/Morrison one just delivered. So it been Gillian Triggs and Pell media noise to distract. However it seems Bolt has mellowed and covering himself when he now says "Of course, I don't know whether the allegations are true or false." Gone is the blind certainty of George's innocence. Now it seems the police have just been doing their job when accusations are made and have been doing so since 2015."Police have investigated these claims since 2015 without laying charges." It seems Bolt is no longer accusing them of a dreaded conspiracy against the conservative Pell. Bolt has done a Donald Trump turnaround from his past insistence that Pell was Christ being crucified again.

BRANCHES RESIST TAKEOVER BY TURNBULL PARTY

It's an odd appointment: "Malcolm Turnbull is facing an unprecedented split in the national campaign operations of the ­Liberal Party [over] the ­expected appointment of 32-year-old Andrew Bragg, a branch member from Mr Turnbull’s electorate, as the party’s next federal director...  Mr Bragg ... has never run a state or federal campaign..."

It seems to me The battle in the Liberal Party has been running for a very long time and It's why Tony Nutt didn't come the help Tony Abbott out of his PMO travails. When party insiders begged him to get rid of Credlin and Mr Nope dug his heels in, in blind faith. Nutt has left why? He's sick to death of the internal war raging within with the tail trying to wag the dog and we are witnessing that on going event here with Bolt. Given the budget has been announced let's see just how this scenarion Bolt is trying to put forward now plays out. It's too soon to say what happened before the budget will continue.
