'Torture you to an absolute delight': Far-right extremist's violent threats ignore
11 hours ago - Tropical Cyclone Idai ripped through Mozambique as a high-end Category 2 storm with 175 kph (110 mph) winds last week before moving ...
Did climate change play a part in this?
Put simply, yes. Warmer air and waters result in more moisture in the atmosphere that is available for storms.
And as we saw with Hurricane Harvey and last year's Hurricane Florence, climate change is resulting in more abundant rainfall-producing tropical cyclones and hurricanes.
Mozambique ranks as the third most vulnerable nation in Africa to climate change due to its susceptibility to extreme weather such as floods, droughts and cyclones, according to the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.
It is predicted to have been the worst recorded in the southern hemisphere. Will it get Climate Change deniers attention? (ODT)

The thing that stands out more than most with Bolt these days is that he went totally silent on Tony Abbott's jump to the left. When Abbott totally compliant on the Paris Agreement the once again and his acceptance that Climate Change is a reality. He's no longer for coal-fired power stations to be government funded or that the government's policies are just a gratuitous waste. Direct Action is still ok and the way to meet our obligations. Not a single bleep from Bolt. Bolt's been having a hard time lately because the 24/7 media cycle can't move fast enough for him.

PERROTTET AND HAMMOND CHANGE THE CLIMATE
Journalists are again reacting with horror without actually asking: is he right? Because he is: "NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has doubled down on comments where he claimed government spending on climate change is a 'gratutious waste'." Add the scepticism of impressive new candidate Celia Hammond and we may finally get a serious debate.

ERDOGAN'S THREAT AND DUTCH KILLER HELP EXPLAIN CHRISTCHURCH'S HORROR
COLUMN The Christchurch massacre set off a savage witch hunt in Australia for politicians “complicit” in this horror. But the shooting of three people in Utrecht should help us to better understand why our world now seems to crackle with danger. So should the threat by Turkey's President to kill Australian Christians. The tribalists are our real enemies.
TOO LAZY TO ARGUE: BRANDS OF OPINION
COLUMN We no longer have debates. We instead have branding exercises for people too stupid to think but too vain not to have an opinion. Two perfect examples in yesterday’s media - a serious report by serious experts warning of the damage Labor's emissions policy will cause was lazily dismissed with claims it had the taint of "Abbott" and "Trump".
Branding exercises; merely turn on the Bolt Report is the format anything like the ABC's The Drum, Q&A or even Insight where the guests are of diverse opinion. Argument and debate are the focus and the outcome of that diversity. Does The Bolt Report in any way shape or form resemble that or is it a replica of Fox Corp USA? Andrew Bolt is an opinionated Anchor reading and autocue travelling a one-way street named rhetorical question here's my answer or here's my guest's response. Now that's too lazy to argue.
Bolt has to have sensationalism or else his show is boring as batshit repetitive night after night and his advertisers are becoming increasingly worried about their association with him who and what he represents. After Christchurch looking back Bolt comes to relief particularly when he was silent for 3 days to come out and then declare "it wasn't me" drawing attention to the fact he was very much an accomplice in the young shooters life along with the guardians of conservative culture that took us to Vietnam to fight the 'gooks' and commie 'slopes'
One of Murdoch's attack dog's to destroy the ABC Bolt spends an enormous amount of time focusing on our Independent Statuary Public owned broadcaster 50 % of Bolt's career has been due to the ABC. Where would he be without it?
The ABC was getting $1 Billion a year back in 1984 and Bolt makes out that's a lot. Would he accept his 1984 wages today? The private media are entitled to be biased according to Andrew Bolt, and they are. However, are they entitled package their bias and sell it as news in most cases the ACCC would class that as a fraud, not news. The ABC has been investigated by this government and Bolt ignores the result that no bias was found, so we have only Bolt's opinion on the matter which then is biased and fraudulent. The fact is the government has been dog whistling on Immigration and now has dropped the immigration intake by 1%. For the past 20-years, infrastructure failure has congested our cities, and the Federal government has held the states to ransom as we well know in Victoria.
As far as the Faine interview goes it's long, and Bolt asks you to listen to it or just take his word for it, and Bolt does that a lot knowing full well people's attention span isn't that long. Faine is testing Tudge, and he has every right to the ABC is there to challenge both sides of government to get to the truth. Such as the government claims it cut immigration when it hasn't it's capped it at where it already is. The government hasn't done anything about infrastructure for 6 years and it says it has to negotiate with COAG is that's what's held it up? It's improving "planning" so what Tudge is saying is yes John we've fucked up.
Remember Bolt's original statement "I'm private and can say whatever I want and can be biased to the max". Well, he's just proved it, and he does each time he speaks about the ABC. It's why he's not trusted, and the ABC is, and it's why Fifield had shit up and admit there is no bias at the ABC.

In all 21 countries included in the OECD study, more than half of those polled said they were in favour when asked: “Should the government tax the rich more than they currently do in order to support the poor?”
The OECD said the survey of 22,000 people was “deeply troubling” and revealed that nearly 60% of respondents do not think they are getting their “fair share” back for the taxes they pay.
