As a psychiatrist, I was blown away by the latest Joker
Kamran Ahmed
Being a psychiatrist, I abhor negative depictions of the mentally ill but as an ardent Batman fan, I was hopeful. As it happens, I was blown away. Joaquin Phoenix’s towering performance and Todd Phillips’ masterful direction undoubtedly helped, but mostly it was the way it approached mental illness.
THE JOKER IS A WHITE SUPREMACIST? NYT CRITIC GOES PEAK WOKE
Peak woke at The New York Times?: "What struck me most is what the film [Joker]... says about whiteness... It is essentially a
depiction of what happens when white supremacy is left unchecked. It
shows the delusions that many white men have about their place in
society and the brutality that can result when that place is denied."
Let's fact-check.
Woke as a political term of African American origin refers to a perceived awareness of issues concerning social justice and racial justice. It is derived from the African-American Vernacular English the expression "stay woke", whose grammatical aspect refers to a continuing awareness of these issues.
Andrew Bolt loves to deride anything "Woke" as if he's "up with it". In doing so he amplifies his "white supremacist face" next we'll see him taking back the use of "nigger" and "boy" stolen from his white vernacular in the 60s.
As for the NYT's reviewer of the Joker he's as entitled to depicting Phoenix putting on his white face as being just another Andrew Bolt and being far more accurate than Bolt was when depicting Canadian PM Trudeau of being black as did recently. Seems Bolt has taken the NYT review personally which shows just how accurate it is.
The above comments by the psychiatrist, Kamran Ahmed is far more relevant and seemed to have missed Bolt's attention but then Bolt's personality reminds me of another deranged cinematic killer Brady Hartsfield in Mr Mercedes whose ambition is to fuck everyone's mind up to be like him even after death.
